Jas stops at Annabelle’s home. He gets out the car and look back in. He makes sure his little sister is still asleep. He then walks to the door of the beautiful Victorian home. He knocks on the door and a large man opens the door.
The man looks at Joseph quizzically. He bends over to Joseph and looks into his eyes.616Please respect copyright.PENANAMv2n15WO4q
“Something cold about you son. My daughter is convinced that this trip will do her some good. There are others coming correct?” Scott Lightman asked. Joseph nods quickly and respectfully.
“Good. I don’t want my little girl going with some dude by herself. I think I can trust you. You have an air about you. What do you do?” Scott asked leading him to the beautiful stairwell.
“Nothing really. I’m…kinda of a weapons designer. I don’t really talk about that a lot. Weapons kill. I intend to design stun weapons only.” Joseph said to him.
“Weapons designer… interesting. How old are you?” “17 sir.” “Hmmm. Well, I hope you have a great time in Sentry City, take your time, she’s finished with school…and protect her as if she were your own sister.616Please respect copyright.PENANAYUhFakv7OS
I shouldn’t have to tell you but she truly is something special. You’ll find that out soon enough. My little girl is my everything. Bring her back safe, sound, and not a hair missing on her head.” Scott tells him.
“I will sir.” As Joseph answered a woman came out of the master bedroom. She looks below to Joseph and scoffs.
“Who is this Scott?” she asked. “This is a friend of Annabelle’s. Remember we talked about her leaving for a time?” Scott answered. “I don’t care. I want to know his name. What is your name?” she said directing her snobbish attitude at Joseph.
“Joseph Arlington Ma’am. I’m new in town, recently moved in. Is it really so important to know my name though?” “I suppose not. I’m watching you. Don’t touch anything. Come on up and get her.” She said. She returned to the master bedroom. Joseph looks at Scott. He smiles slightly. “She’s different. You’ll find her down the hall upstairs though. Have a good trip. I’m going to sleep.”616Please respect copyright.PENANARGcx2mjjWo
“Sir, a moment please. I have but one thing to ask. Why would you let her go with me? You don’t know me and she doesn’t know me. It doesn’t make any sense that you would trust me.” Joseph placed in front of the man.
“Because, in New Heights, we tend to try and trust people before we judge them. I heard about what you did for my little girl. You saved perhaps the most important object that will ever matter to her. A man so kind could not be dishonorable. Should I find anything different after she returns, you and I will have a major problem. Go get her and get out of this house. She really needs this.”
Scott then leads him up the stairs and cuts for his bedroom. Joseph walks to the end of the hall. He knocks on the white and gold door. It opens and Annabelle steps back.
“I need to get a few more things and I will be ready.” Annabelle told him grabbing some things to care for her hair. Joseph looked at the drawings that littered the room. They were gorgeous down by a delicate hand. Then he looks at the beautiful mural on her ceiling. It was the most amazing thing that he had ever seen.
“Who did this Mural?” Joseph asked staring at it with wide eyes. Annabelle looked up and smiled. “My mom. She was…the most talented person I’ve ever known.” “And the rest of these?” “I did them all.” “I must say that you are very talented. Your mother…she is amazing.” Joseph said with his eyes glued looking at the detail.
“Is? Oh, no…um, that as my mother out there. That was the step-witch.” Annabelle said looking in the mirror. She had this look on her face, almost like self-loathing. Joseph did not notice it because he was captivated.
“That as your step-mother? She’s… … …interesting.” “You don’t have to butter it up. She’s nothing like my mother and she doesn’t want me around.” “Is that why you are leaving with me? If so, it’s not a very good reason. We all have problems with our parents.” “No, I need to get away, to think to myself, and have a little fun.” “Okay, if you say so. You done? I mean I can stay here and stare at this mural all day but…we’re on a schedule.” “You can stare at something more interesting, I can assure you of that.”

She grabs her one bag and Joseph takes it from her. He carries it down the stairs and throws it in the trunk. She takes the backseat and sits beside Natalia, still sleeping soundly. Joseph gets in the car and pulls away from the beautiful home. Looking out the window was the father. He nodded to himself.
I this will do her some good. He thought to himself as he closed the blinds. His wife was complaining and he was not listening at all. His daughter, the child from the one woman he truly cared about in this world, was all that mattered to him at the moment. No amount of yelling could break him from her spell.

Joseph pulls up to the hotel that Madison was staying at. He gets out of the car and walks into the hotel. He approaches the half-sleep clerk. He taps on the bell on the desk and he woke up.
“Yes!” the clerk said snapping to attention. “I’m here to see Madison. She would have told you that my name is Joseph Arlington. The password is nosidam skarp. Key, now.” Joseph said.
The clerks hands him the key and Joseph takes the elevator to the top floor. He enters the room that she was staying in and finds her rushing around the room. She grabs a few heels and puts them into her bag. She looks at Joseph with a smile on her face.
“Nice to see you’re on time as usual Jas. Seems that I can’t catch you on a bad day so I get all my things together.” She told him. “Are you serious? You have three bags…two of them for shoes! Madison, I don’t have that much room in my trunk.” Joseph said looking at the bags.
“Jas! I need the shoes. You know me and shoes. Can’t you make room?” she asked grabbing another pair. “Your obsession has got to stop. Let me pack for you.” Joseph says grabbing the shoes from her hands.
He throws in clothes into one bag and manages to fit 4 pairs of shoes in the suitcase. She looks with an opened mouth at him. She as appalled at what he had just down.
“Those didn’t even match! You didn’t fold them! And those shoes were not my best!” Madison said pointing at the bag. “I need to repack. Give me a few minutes.” Madison started to walk back to the drawers. Joseph throws the bag on one of his shoulders. He grabs Madison and throws her over his other shoulder.
He puts her in the front seat and places the bag in the trunk. He gets in and she has her arms crossed. He looks at her with a smile on his face.
“You’re amused but I’m not. You didn’t even consider anything that I wanted! Jas, it’s not funny.” Madison said steaming under the hood. Joseph knew what was going on with her and he didn’t say a word, just smiled.
“You keep smiling Joseph! You’re going to pay for this.” Madison said looking out the window. Joseph pulls out of the lot and starts the road trip.616Please respect copyright.PENANAReEdmND7SN
