Chapter 20: Little Angels

Late at night, the activity of the guards was constant, their mission: to find the two small thundercats who had disappeared after the banquet their king offered to the members of the expedition.

“Any news?” asked anguished Leonore, who was hugged by Lion-O.

“None," nodded Lynx-O, "my super-developed senses find no trace of the little ones inside the capital.”

“That just means that Minino and Minina left the capital," said Lion-O, surprised.

“How could they have gotten out? They are so small," said Leonore.

“Any theories, Lynx-O?”

“Pumyra told me that she was the last thundercat to see them in the palace, well, she and Rauri.”

“And what does Rauri say?” Lion-O asked.

“Risu just informed me that she's not showing up either.”

Lion-O and Leonore exchanged worried looks.

“What could this mean?” Do you think someone has kidnapped them?

“Oh no, my children!”

“It's a probability," Lynx-O nodded, "after all, Yuubi informed us this afternoon that factions loyal to Mumm-ra's henchmen are still mobilized. Factions that are very interested in the asistedroids, since they are all safe with Yuubi, were Rauri the only one left unguarded.”

“Perhaps the children were present when Rauri was abducted and the captors had no choice but to take the children as well.”

“No, Lion-O!”

“Don't worry Lenore, remember that the one they are interested in is Rauri, I don't think they will harm the children. But why would they want the asistedroids?”

“Perhaps," Lynx-O reasoned aloud, "they would want them as an army, as their plan was frustrated, they captured Rauri, if they read her internal memory and proceed to disassemble her they might manufacture more asistedroids.”

“That would require factories," Lion-O said, "it would involve understanding and the use of technology, there are only a few such places on the Third Planet, all controlled by us... and by our allies.”

“Do you think Lion-O that any of them have betrayed us?” Lynx-O asked.

“I don't see the advantage they could gain from supporting a faction that would want to see them displaced by one of Mumm-ra's former generals, yet we must investigate.”

“Lion-O, this is terrible!” shouted Tygra, who had rushed into the room.

“Tygra, what's wrong!”

“As I looked for the children I went to the chamber of the sword of omens and saw that Mumm-ra's gauntlet, the Plundar sword and the other stellar stones were taken away.”

“What did you say!”

“Lion-O, all they left was your gauntlet and the sword of omens.”

“Surely they tried to take the sword of omens and gauntlets," Lynx-O said, "but the sword is magic and it watched over it and the royal gauntlet, that's why the thieves couldn't steal them.”

Faced with the seriousness of the situation, Lion-O sent for the other thundercats and informed them of the situation, and Risu and Tara were also present.

“We have to find out somehow the whereabouts of the children and Rauri," Risu said worried.

“There is a way," Cheetara said, "Lion-O can use the sword of omens to find out where the children and Rauri are.”

“It's true," said Panthro, "with the eye of a thundera, we can also know the nature of our enemy.”

The group headed for the sword room and Lion-O took the sword of omens.

“Sword of omens, show me that which is beyond the obvious.”

The eye of thundera vibrated and roared as it sent images of a floating city into the mind of its owner. The Thundercats children were in a cell, while Rauri stood still in a room full of monitors.

“They're in Avian!” said Lion-O.

“Damned Vultureman," damned Bengali, "in the end he betrayed us.”

“That plucked bird always gave me a bad feeling," said Tara, who cracked her knuckles, "if I catch him I'll twist his long neck.”

“With the technology that the avians have," Pumyra said, "it is the best place to create their army of asistedroids.”

“That would mean disassembling Rauri first," said Risu, who lost the color of his face.

“In the end, Yuubi's decision to transport the asistedroids was a good one," Cheetara said.

“If we already know where they are, why are we still here!” Wilykat shouted impatiently.

“Let's go and rescue my brothers right now!” Wilykit also shouted.

“But we don't have any fighters at our disposal," Tygra said worried.

“Yes, we do," Risu intervened, "my ship, the Thundercat, has a transporter that was not damaged on landing, so we can take it and go to Avian.”

“Why not take Mumm-ra's fighters?” asked Lion-O.

“If this was planned by Vultureman, he's probably already replenished his fleet of fighters, Mumm-ra's fighters are scarce. We'll take them, but they'll just be a distraction, we'll go on the transporter and if all goes well we'll get out on this one too.”

“Perfect," said Bengali, "now it is only a matter of contacting Yuubi to provide us with the fighters.”

So did Risu and Yuubi's performance was perfect, he assured them that the asistedroids in his charge would pilot the fighters, but Tygra insisted on piloting some. He and Cheetara would go to the pyramid of Mumm-ra.

The rest of the group would go to the Tundercat, the Cathian ship fell and then go to Avian. Lion-Ore and her children, along with Jessie and Sebastian, would stay in the palace.

Needless to say, the children were unhappy, but Lion-O's severe gaze convinced them to stay in the palace.

“Rescue my children and please take care of yourself," said Leonore as she hugged the young king.

“Don't worry Leonore, we'll follow Risu's plan and everything will be all right” Lion-O calmed her down and then took Leonore delicate face in his hands and brought her lips to his.”

“Ahem, ahem!” toasted Sebastian and the two adults separated at lightning speed.

“You know," said Jessie, "if Wilykit and Wilykat see you like this, another fight will break out.”

“Hmmm, I must go now, Leonore, take care of Wilykat and Wilykit... and also these two, lest they get into trouble.”

“Hey!”

“It's not fair!”

As the "Thundercat" was farther away than the Mumm-ra pyramid, Lion-O's group left first. Tygra and Cheetara, they would do it hours later.

“Leonore," said Sebastian to the thundercat moments before the adult thundercats left for Yuubi, "it seems that Wilykat and Wilykit saw how you and Lion-O were very affectionate hours before and locked themselves in their room, they say they will not go down to say goodbye to Tygra and Cheetara.”

Leonore smiled sweetly at them and the children said goodbye to her.

"Pumyra, Cheetara and Tara, you are unfair to them, they are really little angels," thought Leonore and went down to say goodbye to the thundercats.

Like Lion-O's group, Tygra and Cheetra, they set off in a wheeled vehicle that once belonged to Risu. The two thundercats were in the cabin, while in the back were a few boxes of various materials, including a dirty brown hand-woven travel bag.

Lion-O and the others arrived at the location of Risus ship and a nervous-looking Cathian received them.

“Any sign of the city avian?” Lion-O asked.

“No your majesty. The floating city is located in the northeast sector, but it has not been in that sector for a week, we do not know its current position and attempts to communicate with the avians have been unsuccessful.”

“Before we do anything," continued Panthro, "we must find out the exact location of the city.”

“I can put together a radar to help us locate the city," Tara offered.

The Cathian led the group into a corridor of the ship and before opening the door raised both arms.

“I'm so sorry, Your Majesty, I had no choice.”

Pushing several ventilation grilles located on the ceiling and the raised sides of the walls, several torsos of asistedroids peeked out, all of them pointing their weapons at the group.

Lion-O and the others began to counteract but instead of using laser weapons, the asistedroids shot them with paralyzing gas grenades.

A couple of emergency vents opened and blew the gas out of the corridor, however, the entire Lion-O group was already unconscious on the floor.

The doors that the Cathian wanted to open were opened and it was through them that Salamander, the former Slithe Captain and now president of the Reptilians, appeared.

“It's true what they say," Salamander said with an evil smile, "everything comes to the one who knows how to wait.”

In the capital of the kingdom of Lion-O, Leonore insisted once again that her children open the door for her.
