I went to the armory and grabbed whatever weapons I could see as being useful. An XE-39 Laser pistol, an Archet brand Laser rifle, and a small plasma sword. As I left, the FNN was reporting that the regime had finally come to learn of the Prophets involvement in recent events, and was preparing its own raid on the base, separate from the Federations, due to still not trusting them. The regime, in general, appears the be becoming more and more paranoid as the days go by. According to Keti, we had gotten a group of 1,500 Flashtroopers to come on the attack, along with seven Er-33 gunships, two squadrons of 15 ZX-98 StarFighters, and 35 XJ-53 bombers. These would all be brought to Rackaret by the large warship named the Aratrum, which would be able to arrive in a few minutes.
During the few minutes, I still had before the Aratrum arrived, I hung around the hangar, waiting for the order to move out, and chatting up other generals. Most of them said that the operation would most likely be short, as we had much more power than the prophets, and they didn't have enough power to make a large move before we could destroy them first. Soon, we were given the order to move out, as large amounts of transports had started to arrive in the hangar, and I split off from the other commanders.
We were all put on transports, where we would be brought up to the Aratrum, the main ship to be used in this operation. The Lightspeed journey would take about 5 minutes, and we would set off within 30 minutes. I arrived in the hangar out of boredom, after 15 minutes. They were already starting to move transports into the hangar, as the Aratrum was set to arrive at the planet in a few minutes. Most of the Flashtroopers had already arrived at the hanger and were milling around waiting for the time to leave. Within a few minutes, it had, and we began loading into the transports.
I was traveling in an unmarked carrier, with General Zanchot. The general who was sent to oversee the operation. When we made our way up to the Aratrum, all the fighters and bombers along with their respective crews had been loaded up there. With everything in place, we finally set off, towards Rackaret. I was given access to the cafeteria, and thus spent most of my time hanging out there, along with the other soldiers, and pilots. In particular, I made acquaintance with the fighter squadron commander, a man named Zadot, who ended up chatting with me the most way through the journey.
In the last minutes before arrival, we were briefed on the battle plan. The prophets main base was in a clearing, in the middle of a mountainous area surrounded by a river on all sides. The base consisted of a compound of 3 buildings, with a main one in the middle. There were around 2,000 people guaIt was heavily guarded, with numerous turrets positioned atop the mountains, and hills, alongside the ones guarding the base itself. The fighters and bombers would take out the turrets, and the remaining Flashtroopers would be sent down in the transport to and would split up to attack the buildings, taking out Prophet leaders one by one.
When we finally arrived at Rackaret, the Federations star fleet, headed up by the Zagornt was already blockading the planet. The Aratrum Pushed through the blockade, Their main turbolasers were up, but the Prophets had their main shield up, and therefore they couldn't be useful, in any way. The Aratrum moved closer to the planet's atmosphere, before rriving at the Phrophets command center. The turrets slowly noticed us, and began to fire in our direction.
We finally stopped at a good few meters above the compound’s location. The turrets were still foreign, but our shields were holding. Zadot was already starting to head towards the hangar, along with the other pilots to begin to execute the battle plan, when we started receiving alarms from all sides of the ship. As we went to the window, we saw hundreds of tiny dots. As they came closer, we saw that they were fighters. Thousands of them, heading straight for the ship! I heard the door open behind me, and I saw that Zadot was already gone, heading towards the hangar to be ready for battle. As I turned back to the window, the fighters opened fire, blasting the window open, and knocking all of us on our back.
