We blasted towards Bruna at speeds that I never thought possible. A sonic boom ripped through the air as we clashed with Bruna.
Gorta- “You Angels are always the same, looking down at everyone that does not worship the ground you walk!”
Bruna- “And you Demons are always the same, mindless animals.”
We broke off the clash and shot a blast of darkness at her while she shot a blast of light at us which caused an explosion that covered our vision and in that time Bruna closed the distanced and tried to stab us but we dodged by flipping around and then we knocked her back to earth.
We follow her down with a crash creating a massive crater but she was no where to be seen.
Bruna- “I think you might be the last one.”
Gorta- “An Angel bragging about genocide, how funny.”
Bruna- “At last our people can be free from the rule of humans, I won’t lose this battle demon!”
We noticed too late, she came from beneath us with the spear engulfed in light which blinded us. The spear struck our chest but-
Bruna- “!”
We created an illusion and went behind and attempted to impale her with our claws.
Gorta- “!”
Bruna- “Nice try but you should know that mind abilities don’t work well against us incorporeal beings.”
Gorta- “Oh yes, I forgot to add hypocrite to the list. Who’s the poor girl you’re possessing.”
Bruna- “A sweet girl, one of the few people left that still honor us or our late father.”
Gorta- “And you’re going to kill me for possession, kill yourself first!”
Bruna- “She was willing, that boy I’m sure was not.”
Gorta- “You know nothing of Hashi!”
We grew wings of darkness and flew up to meet Bruna.
Gorta- “That spear looks heavy, let me take it off your hands.”
We used tendrils of darkness to attempt to take her spear.
However, she pulled us using our tendrils and gave us a hard hit to the face.
We returned the favor by kicking Bruna in the abdomen which sent her flying a ways back.
As she flew back she threw the spear at us at a speed we couldn't dodge.
Gorta- “Gah!”
The spear hit us and pushed us back to the ground but thanks to some darkness covering where the attack landed we didn't get impaled but it still caused a lot of damage.
We lay faced up in a crater with the spear still trying to pierce us. We grabbed the spear and threw it on the ground.
Gorta- (Getting up) “You shouldn't have thrown the spear.”
Bruna- (Limping a bit) “Worth it considering you can barely stand.”
Gorta- “Funny.”
Gorta- “You might as well give up now.”
Bruna- “And why would I do that?”
Gorta- “Because I can see your mind.”
Bruna- “!!!”
Gorta- (Laughing) “You took too much damage, despite being incorporeal like me I can still read your mind if you take too much of a beating especially if the body’s original owner is dead.”
Bruna- “!!”
Bruna- “What do you mean!”
Gorta- “Oh, didn’t you know? The girl who owned that body died a long time ago.”
Bruna- “B-but how?”
Bruna looked as if she found out her entire life was a lie, she almost fell to her knees.
Gorta- “Overuse, the fact your probably never gave her body back to her, who knows.”
Bruna- (Whispering) “L-lily I-”
Bruna- “….”
Despite her moment of weakness, she wiped her tears and stared us down.
She ran up to us with all the might she could muster and began trying to hit us but it was no use, we could see her every move and thought.
Gorta- (Laughing) “Why are still fighting.”
Bruna- “….”
In that moment we, I could see and hear her thoughts and memories. Bruna is fighting to save her people.
If she wipes out all demons then her race would be spared in the end.
Is what I’m doing right?
Dispelling my thoughts was the sensation of flesh tearing and teeth breaking. My fist smashed into Bruna’s face pushing her back yet she would not fall.
Bruna- “….”
Gorta- “Still you stand angel, you have some nerve to fight for those people.”
Bruna attempted to punch us, me, again but Gorta caught the blow and punched her again spraying blood everywhere.
Gorta- “Where was this determination when our people burned huh?”

Gorta- “What happened to family first Bruna?”

Gorta- “As soon as you angels got praised by the humans, you left the rest of us to rot as the villains of your made up story!”
(Hit)
Gorta- “And now that they’ve turned on you, you have the audacity to hunt us down like dogs!”
(Hit)
Gorta- “Out of all the Gods, the only one I was glad to see go was our father.”
(Hit)
Bruna- “I’m sorry.”
Gorta- “What?!”
Bruna- “I said I’m sorry.”
Gorta- “….”
Bruna- “But!”
In that moment of hesitation Bruna headbutted Gorta.
Bruna- “What do you expect me to do!”
Bruna- “If I don’t sacrifice you and the others then my own people will suffer.”
Gorta- “….”
Gorta- “We used to be your people….”
Bruna- “The decision was before our time.”
Gorta- “….”
Gorta- “Then I have no more to say.”
Gorta sped towards Bruna ready to claim her head but In that instant I could see Bruna close her eyes as if accepting her fate.
I could not help it….
Gorta- “!”
Bruna- “….”
Bruna- (Opening Eyes) “!”
Gorta- “Why Hashi, why again!”
Hashi- “Because she lost something too, I can’t take her life!”
Gorta- “Stop being so stupid, remember your anger and hatred! She was going to kill Kate!”
Hashi- “But….”
Gorta- “Weren't you going to protect your friends no matter the cost to them or others!? Where’s your motivation!?”
Hashi- “I’ll still protecting them but….”
Hashi- “I want to protect her too. I don’t want to sacrifice their entire race or yours.”
Gorta- “!”
I focused my will and reclaimed my body causing the darkness in the area to disappear and my appearance to return to normal.
With Gorta’s influence gone I felt all the pain from that wound from the beginning come back. I held my abdomen to lessen the blood loss.
Bruna- “Why?”
Bruna- “Why spare me?”
Hashi- “You have someone to protect too and someone you’ve loss.”
Hashi- “You’ve suffered enough.”
Bruna- “Why do you care so much?”
Hashi- “Because I don’t want to see my heroes cry.”
Bruna- “….”
Bruna- “Hashi I-”
Before she could get another word in a lightning bolt came down from a cloudless sky striking Bruna leaving her on death’s doorstep.
Hashi- “Bruna!”
I rushed to her side and cradled her.
Bruna- (Barely able to speak) “Hashi, save…. my …..people.”
Bruna- “And... give... this... to... Lily’s... family.”
Bruna hands me a blue enhanced succulent flower and a necklace with a pendent.
Bruna- “Tell... them... I’m... sorry.”
Just like that, another life fades from my arms.
I took a moment of silence and then looked around to see what caused the lightning bolt and to my horror and surprise I found Moryuu standing among the shadows in the forest.
I tried to get up and chase him but the words that floated into my mind stopped me.
Moryuu- “I’m pretty sure you can pick these thoughts up Gorta, tell Hashi he needs to be more ruthless to survive. His desire to protect all the races will get more killed then he realizes.”
Moryuu- “Oh and also, don’t try to read my mind for more info. You can only read my mind if I allow it, goodbye you two.”
After that I looked back in his direction but he was gone.
I took a look at Bruna laying there lifeless, the least I can do is give her a proper burial. I can’t do it in my condition so I head over to Kate and Albeis.
Hashi- “Hey Kate I need som-”
I soon noticed Kate cowering behind Albeis and looking at me with fear.
Hashi- “Kate?”
Kate- “What are you?”
Hashi- “Kate, I know it might have been scary but I’m still Hashi.”
Kate- “You have a demon inside you and not only that you can use magic despite me telling you not to learn it.”
Hashi- “But it was all to protect you.”
I tried to reach out to her but she recoiled.
Hashi- “Kate….”
Kate- “That demon of yours damaged my pocket watch and he can use mind magic.”
Hashi- “But-”
Kate- “Don’t you understand?!”

Kate- “You have a demon inside you, one of the most evil beings in the world and a mind magic user!”
Kate- “Every mind magic user has been a blight on life, how can I trust you despite all of that!”
Hashi- “I-”
I could feel my consciousness fading away but I need to say this.
Hashi- “Gorta may be a Demon but he’s not as evil as you say, he may be annoying and full of inner hatred but just like you he’s in pain.”

Hashi- “You can trust me because you know me Kate, I’m sorry for hiding things from you. I promise to….”
I could hold out know more, I passed out from the blood loss.
