The next day I woke up and Lee wasn't there. He was out already before I could even wake up. Honestly, with his recent behavior, I am not at all surprised. Lee still loves me and I know Lee drank and he doesn't drink, he was stupid enough to go home after drinking. I mean I guess he wasn't stupid enough to drive. At least there is some kind of brain inside that head of his. I kind of missed him. I mean, the night that we had laid in that bed and cuddled was one of the best nights of my life, and the night with Mystery Man was right up there with another great night. The level of intimacy was so different yet so similar. I felt the same way about both of them and it was scary because I didn't want to end up in a love triangle. I think I was already in one, because I cared for the mystery man already, even after one night. How can that compare to someone you've know for years and had sex with?
I heard my phone buzz and my mom entered through the door and sat down on the chair next to the couch. She pointed out that there was something shiny in the couch cushions and walked over to the couch and pulled out a beer bottle. She asked me if the beer bottle was mine. I said yes. She gave me a disturbing look and got up off the couch and walked away and slammed the door to her bedroom. I knocked on the door.
"Mom, you are going to school, right?"
"No, I'm just not feeling well at all today. Can you call them and tell them I am sick?" She was sleeping in the bed and I tried to pull the covers off of her head, but she wouldn't budge.
"Yeah, sure"
I called them and told them that my mom was sick and that she wasn't going to school today. I hope they aren't mad at her about that. I also told them that I wasn't feeling good either. The real reason was that I had to be here for my mom even though she was upset with me. I mean, who wants their teenage daughter drinking? Even though she was mad at me I would be here for her like she wasn't there for me.
She was always going out, and that kind of irritated me. I didn't know if she was back to old drinking habits and that is what scared me. However, I cared about my mom because she helped make me who I am. Although there are things that I don't really like about her, I love her the way she is. Sometimes she irritates the crap out of me or she acts kind of bitchy, other times, I call her a bitch.
She always says if you don't think your mom is a bitch every once in a while she ain't doing her job right. I went upstairs to my room and thought about it for a while. The sun was up and my mouth was so dry. My mom started calling me from upstairs.
"Kylie, Kylie!!! Help me" I heard from the floor of my bedroom.
I ran downstairs, almost stumbling over myself. "Mom, are you okay?" I asked.
"No, I need help, my back really hurts and I need to go to the emergency room now."
"Mom, you know I can't drive!"
"I know, just call 911."
I proceeded to pick up the phone and dialed 911, they put me on hold for a minute. Then they answered the phone.
"Hello, 911 dispatcher, what's your emergency?"
"I don't know. My mom is in extreme back pain."
"I need to know your address to send an ambulance to your location."
I told her our address, and they were there in about 10 minutes. I ran upstairs quickly to throw on a hoodie, so they didn't see my skin. When I returned downstairs, the EMTs checked my mom's vitals and mental status.
"How long has she been like this?" asked the medical personnel.
"I don't know if she got home and then she got mad at me, went to her room and started having pain in her back. Please make sure my mom is okay, please?"
"Ma'am I need you to calm down, it only stresses her out even more!"
"Okay, do you guys need anything?"
"Do you know what she was doing before this?"
"No, my mom goes out a lot and comes back everyday, I don't know where she goes, she just goes places and doesn't tell me about it."
"Okay, can you tell me your family history, does anybody in your family have health issues?"
"My grandpa died from a stroke."
"Is she on any medications?"
"No, not that I know of."
I was crying profusely and it's not like it was late in the day. I heard a knock on our door. I went to answer it and it was Lee, he was asking to come in and I told him he could. He went into the room where my mother was.
"Get him out of here NOW!" my mother yelled.
"I just need you to understand, Lee and I can be friends, he may be a little bit of an asshole, but I still care about him. I can't help it!"
My mom grumbled, Lee turned around and walked away really fast, went to his house, got in his car and drove off. He must have gone to school. I was just worried about my mother, they were ready to move her to a stretcher. So they did the blanket maneuver, moving her quickly to the cot. They were rolling my mother out of the house and into the ambulance. I started crying profusely because I was so scared of what was going to happen to her. Was she going to be okay? I asked to ride along and they said if that will make me more comfortable.
The paramedics gave my mom some pain relievers for her back. The ride was not very long but it felt like it was so much longer. We got to the hospital and they unloaded her. When we went inside the doctor took her up to do an x-ray and I was worried about my mom that I just paced around the waiting room for at least an hour. I finally sat down and my legs were shaking. I was terrified. My mother had to be okay. After all that time they finally told me that it was okay to go back and see her. She got laser treatment from a kidney stone and that she would be okay. I walked up to my mother and gave her a massive hug because that was the best thing I could think of doing. She started talking to me and told me how much she loved me. She told me how scared she was and that she wanted me to be happy.
"Everything I've done, I've done it for you!"
"What do you mean?" I questioned
"I'll tell you when I'm out of the hospital, Kylie. I love you and I just want you to have the best life you can possibly have. You may have aquagenic urticaria, but you have not let it define you, and that is why I seriously am so proud of you. I don't ever say it enough, but you have to know a mother does what is best for the interest of her daughter in mind."
"Mom, you don't make any sense," I claimed.
"I'll explain later." My mom said as she was trying to go back to sleep.
I went out the door and went to the bathroom, moisturizing my skin and all, and I put up my hood. I went back to the room where I saw her and him. I eavesdropped secretly without them knowing.
"Ray, you have no idea what is going on with me! You have no right to judge me or tell me what to do! YOU left US! You left Kylie, just because she had medical issues. You were abusive to me when you were drunk which was all the time. It will be over my dead body that I let you near Kylie. You don't even pay child support! Why did you have to come back!? You are ruining the good thing I had going for Kylie! You have no idea how it feels everybody criticizing you for raising a daughter because you're a single mother. But I mean it, GET OUT NOW or I will have you removed one way or another. Now, go find your wormhole back to hell!"
He turned around about to leave and saw me peeking through the side of the doorframe.
"Is this the thing you had to tell me?"
"Kylie, no, I never planned on telling you this. He was gone, and honey, I'm sorry, but he was supposed to stay gone."
He looked at me. He was a man who was fit, and he had hair and his ears were like mine. But, most importantly of all, this man was my father. He was scary looking, but that's because I'm not very tall. He looked a lot like me. I was intrigued to get to know him but at the same time I was terrified to know him. What if all the things mother said were true, could he really be abusive or is mom saying that to protect me. Or is she protecting me from the abuse?388Please respect copyright.PENANAl0R3nBUCMk
My mom was still in the hospital so my father ran out to get some food. He went out and it was taking a while. I sat there just watching my mom sleep, wondering what she was dreaming about. I was just disappointed that my mom would have this secret from me that she would seriously keep this from me. I remembered what she said "This wasn't what I was going to tell you." Then my father came back into the room and sat down and handed me the food.
"You know Kylie, I..." he stuttered
"What?"
"Nevermind"
"No just spit it out, what's the reason you haven't come to see me for the last 10 years?" I was not very happy to know he's been gone for so long. I demanded an answer, but this wasn't what I thought.
