From the dark void, Magpie heard a soft murmur of different voices. She tried to concentrate on what they are saying, but cost a lot of strength and gathered only fragments. "Jayden... danger... explain..." After that, the voices began to grow louder and at times, speaking faster. A discussion or a brawl? Soon Magpie had enough strength to open her eyes. She soon found herself lying on a strange sort of bed but comfy nevertheless. Her eyes wandered over to the source of the brawl. Two men and two women. One of the women had a shimmering outline of what appear to be wings folded behind her back, almost invisible. A faery? With caution, Magpie sat up but gave out a soft groan as her back twitched. Quick-witted she recalled the wound and run a hand over her back, no dried blood but a faint scar and slightly warmer than the rest of her skin. Healed?
Suddenly a soft voice spoke. "How are you feeling?"
Rapidly Magpie turned her head to the front. A young girl with brown hair grinned warmly at her. A kind and tender personality are felt from her aura. There was a unique marking on her left cheek, but that didn't bother Magpie. She nodded to the girl and wanted to say 'yes' but her throat was dry; a cough passed her lips instead.
"Here." She smiled and handed her a glass of water.
Magpie gave a nod of appreciation, took the glass with both hands and held it up to her lips. It was cool and refreshing to the body and soul.
"So, you're Magpie?" She gave shyly.
She nodded and licked her lips. "Aye, like the bird and you are?" She looked further around the room.
"I'm Nu." She followed Magpie's glance. "This is our hideout. Sorry that they argue so loud."
"Nu, is it normal to argue so?" Magpie wondered.
Nu slowly shook her head.
Magpie felt uneasy how the others argued. Usually, something like this doesn't bother her, on the streets she grew up, it was a daily basis, but somehow, right now in this world, it felt wrong and foolish. Rapidly she swung herself to her feet and paced up to step in between. Nu barely had a chance to warn nor halt Magpie. "All of you stop it!" She took a deep breath and looked to all three directly in the eye.
"Some nerve to step in between when you don't even know what we're talking about!" Spat the faery bewildered with crossed arms.
Magpie heard a lot about faeries but never met one until now. "About the sinister man and the dark creature?", guessed Magpie.
"In case you hadn't noticed, that sinister man looked the same as him." The faery walked over to a young man with short dark blond hair and grass green eyes. Magpie recalled seeing him, holding the unconscious faery. The young man frowned nerved. His aura is entirely different than what she sensed from the sinister man. This man here has an atmosphere of good but there is also pain. "His aura is different." Assured Magpie calmly.
"What do you exactly mean with 'aura'?" Wondered the other man. "The name's Vandal."
Magpie gave a nod as a greeting. "Every living being emits energy along with a part of their true character. Some people can see them in colours and shapes, and others like me can sense them."
"And you can because you have magic?" Asked Vandal.
"Yes but I prefer to stay away from it however I can."
The faery scoffed annoyed.
"Why? You saved me back there." Stepped in Nu.
"I'm glad you're safe, but it requires more strength than a toe-to-toe sword fight." Magpie drew in a deep breath as the painful emotions swelled from her chest up to her throat as she thought of Ignatius. "My closest friend is a caster, and he used good magic but-" Magpie bit her lower lip to hold back her tears. "He somehow turned to necromancy."
"How?" Asked the blond man. "That's Jayden." Whispered Nu to Magpie.
"I don't know," Magpie answered with a sigh.
"That's helpful." Muttered, the faery annoyed. "That's Senshi." Whispered Nu.
"Maybe you can explain what sort of world this is?" Asked Magpie calmly to Senshi but feels the anger slowly rising due to her annoying behaviour.
Senshi scowled at Magpie.
"None of us knows what kind of world this is. We're trying to figure it out." Answered Vandal.
"With disgusting dark retching monsters at our heels and a 'sinister man' on the loose." Snaps Senshi.
Immediately Magpie recalled her encounter with the shadowy figure and the evil creature. They are both dark and frightening but have different auras. The dark shadow mentioned this world is a place for the deceased. No, it can't be! I'm not dead! Magpie clenched her trembling hands into fists to the shocking thought and stared at the floor before her feet. "The land of the deceased?" She whispered.
"What?" Asked everyone in unison.
