What have I allowed myself into? Wondered Magpie with doubt as she slowly climbed her way down. Sweat and rain mingled on her clothes and skin while the cold wind roared at her ears.462Please respect copyright.PENANA49eGJbYY3r
Suddenly her long knife at one end began to slip out, and the rubble around it crumbled. It happened so fast she lost grip of her long knife and let it drop down below her. Her feet dangled in the air more than ten meters to her estimation. "Damn it!" Magpie mutter under her breath before pulling out another long knife from her corset to continue her descent. Her hands ached of the cold rain and holding tightly onto the blades. At times she tried to find a grip with her feet to rest her hands for a brief moment, but below her was still a long way down. I'm a thief, not some climber or mountain goat. If only I knew a spell to fly or soften a landing. She sighed and looked over her shoulder to the other, broken down and collapsed buildings. Her mind wandered to Ignatius and what he said before Shadow appeared. A shudder went down her spine. "I hope it was real." She muttered to herself. Once I'm down, where should I go? What should I do? Go and find the others? Or should I stick on my own-462Please respect copyright.PENANARW9608wd9N
Suddenly she lost her footing. The sudden shift of her weight on the knives made them crumble out of the holes and soon found herself falling. Magpie gasped hoarsely in fear as the air blew strongly against her face and noticed how fast the ground nears. Without thinking, she held out her hands in front of her and hoped to cast some magic to save herself, to stop from falling. Immediately the air around her moved differently and began to hold her at the shoulders and feet to avoid falling. Faintly violet light glowed from her palms as the wind gently held her and placed her at one corner of a cracked and crumbled square. Magpie fell to her knees and hands of exhaustion and stared at the hard cement ground. Relieved to have firm ground beneath her feet and vowed never to do something that ruthless again.462Please respect copyright.PENANAoyD3l9wx64
Little did Magpie know that nearby, hiding in the shadows smiled Shadow and flexed his right hand with the tattoo. "Your end will come when I say, dear Magpie." He whispered to himself, knowing he saved her from falling.462Please respect copyright.PENANAgAQWaYbTW3
After eaten a protein bar and a few sips of rainwater from the broken down fountain, Magpie found new strength to find her knife she dropped earlier. Her search was of no avail and sensed she is on limited time somehow. I still have two knives at my corset, hope they will never come to use. At a large slab of flat stone, she sharpened her dagger and knife until they were sharp to her content.462Please respect copyright.PENANAsFsgCra24n
Soon Magpie lifted her head as she sensed a different presence of magic nearby, one she has encountered before, and it wasn't Shadow's. Blindly she followed her senses with a hand ready at her sword and her ears ready to pick-up any unusual sound other than rain. After a long, while walking, she began to hear voices from the sizeable round-shaped building (stadium). There was no roof and in the middle was field growing grass and other wild plants. At an open gate, she stood up against the wall and slowly peeked over the edge to get a glimpse. Immediately her eyes were locked to Caecius. Magpie gasped and hid but she knew it was too late.462Please respect copyright.PENANAk7N3oWw3t3
"Come out there. We've no means to fight." Called Caecius.462Please respect copyright.PENANACSlTYDZLlK
Yeah right, not taking your word for it, grunted Magpie in her mind. Wait, we? He's not alone? She took a deep breath to muster her courage and stepped out, facing Caecius. He was alone. "I'll hold to my word if you do too." Remarked Magpie sternly, showing no hint of fear.462Please respect copyright.PENANATy8Al8AYlV
"That I shall." Spoke an icy cold voice from behind her. Before Magpie could glance over her shoulder, a dark tentacle slithered to her sword and held the blade against her throat. "I owe you a good cutting for what you've done, but it seems this is your lucky day." Hissed Gideon.462Please respect copyright.PENANACgeJavThxu
"Another shift has cut in and time is running out. We need your help and so do you from us." Spoke Caecius calmly.
"Is there an option to walk away?" Cut in Magpie with a smirk.
"The only option would be death. It would be my pleasure to arrange that." Smiled Gideon.
"But we would be then at a disadvantage. I'm aware your friend Shadow is a talented magician of sorts and can create illusions. You need to summon him." Stepped in Caecius. Gideon slowly removed her sword from her throat.
"I don't work with him." Spat Magpie angered. "He's a son of a b**** for all I care."
Gideon whistled amazed. "That's some loving words you have for him."
Caecius hummed amused as he noticed the tattoo on Magpie's right hand and tilted his head. "Then explain this." He pointed at it. Gideon wrapped a tentacle around her wrist and lifted it to inspect closer.
Magpie sighed to their ignorance and ripped herself free from Gideon's grip. "He wants me for some reason and is a stubborn bastard, having hopes I might change my mind."
"So this tattoo is a summoning spell?" Asked Caecius.
"What do you think?" She hissed, annoyed. What have I allowed myself into?
