CHAPTER TWO1025Please respect copyright.PENANA5D5Wxi6ZU5
(Seth’s PoV)
“Yes, Aunt Jenna. I’m on my way.” I said before hanging up.
I started my car and set off on my way. I was meeting my aunt Jenna for dinner tonight. It was one of the rare occurrence since she was a very busy person. She’s currently running the big company of Hunter Enterprises alone since her husband died last year.
I stopped when the traffic light turned red. I tapped my fingers in the steering wheel as I waited. And I saw Ashantee crossed the road, not even noticing my car. She was dressed exactly as she was earlier, except the added gray scarf and gloves.
Suddenly, a car honked behind me and removed all thoughts of following her. I looked up and saw the yellow lights just turned red again. Laughing to myself, I clicked on the hazard as an apology to the car behind me.
I reached the Italian restaurant where I made my reservation. I parked my car and got out. I pulled my scarf tighter around my neck as I made my way towards the front door.
Heat greeted me as I opened it and I didn’t bothered looking around as I removed my scarf and coat to put them on the coat stand beside the door.
“Good evening,” a familiar voice greeted. “Do you have a reservation?”
I looked up and saw Ashantee in front of me. She was standing behind a tall desk and she was wearing the restaurant uniform.
She smiled at me when I didn’t speak. “Reservation?”
“Ah, yes,” I was flustered. This girl really makes me speechless. “Reservation for two under Seth Jensen.”
She looked on the list that was on her desk before smiling back at me. “Your company hasn’t arrived yet, but let me show you to your table.”
I followed her inside the restaurant and sat on the table. “Would you like to order now?”
“No, I’ll wait for her.” I answered.
“Okay, then. Please excuse me.” She said with a smile.
She was all professional. If I didn’t saw the smile she had on her eyes, I would have thought she forgotten about me already.
After five minutes of waiting, I saw Ashantee walking towards me with my aunt. She had blonde curly hair that was already graying at some place. Though she doesn’t look her age. She looked like a woman in her early-thirties when the truth was she was over forty.
Ashantee pulled back a chair for my aunt to sit at. Then, she gave each of us a menu before smiling.
“Good evening. I will be your server for tonight. My name is Ava.”
Shocked crossed my face and before I could stop myself, “Ava?” I asked.
My aunt’s face flew to mine and she held a questioning look. Ashantee put a finger to her mouth that means quiet. I nodded and she continued.
“May I know your order?” She asked, as if nothing happened.
We ordered our food and she left. I followed her figure until my aunt cleared her throat. I looked to her and saw a knowing smirk on her lips.
“You know her, don’t you?”
“I’ve met her.” I answered cryptically.
My aunt spent the whole dinner trying to squeeze some information from me. About Ashantee. About my school. About everything that has happened to me since we last saw each other. I was her favorite nephew, after all.
I found out that my aunt only took a public transportation to arrive here since her car was in the auto repair. So, I offered her a ride back home. Before we left, Ashantee was assisting a couple so I couldn’t say bye to her.
“Bye, Aunt Jenna.” I said as she got out of my car.
She gave me a sloppy kiss on the cheeks before entering her house. After making sure that she was inside, I sped away from her mansion.
I was almost on my home when the traffic light turned red. I stopped my car and waited. I was looking at the side mirror when I saw Ashantee. With a smile, I waited for her to pass by me but she never did. My eyes grew huge in shock when I saw a hand pulled her inside a dark alley.
My blood boiling in anger. I quickly pushed my door opened with such a force that I was shocked it didn’t got ripped off its hinges. I ran towards the alley and saw Ashantee pushed to the wall and a man covering her mouth and holding her hands. His lips traveling to her body. Her eyes full of fear as she tried to push the man in front of her.
Without any second thought, I punched the man and he fell to the ground. Before he could even had the chance to stand, I put a foot on his chest before I leaned down on him.
“As soon as I let you go, I suggest you run. Before I make sure you never walk again.” I growled at him.
He nodded in fright and as soon as I stood up, he started running away. Leaving dust behind him. I laughed at him.
Coward.
Then, I turned to Ashantee, who was frozen still in the wall. I put a hand on her shoulder but she jumped back and swatted my hand away.
“Don’t touch me!” She screamed as she continued to fight.
“Hey, hey, hey,” I said soothingly. “It’s alright. It’s alright. It’s me.”
She looked up for the first time and recognition flashed in her eyes. Her breathing was still heavy due to fright and suddenly, she burst out crying. Falling on her knees. I knelt in front of her and pulled her gently towards me. I cradled her and ran a hand down her hair.
“I was… I. . . I was. . . I was so scared!” She cried as she held onto me.
My blood boiled in anger again. I should have beat the shit out of that man. He had no right to do anything to Ashantee. We stayed hugging for a while. Me comforting her and her calming me down. Because if she wasn’t holding onto me right now, I would have ran after that man and probably kill him.
She sniffed before leaning back. “I. . . Thank you.” She said, gratefulness was evident in her voice. “I need to go. It’s late.”
I stood up and helped her stand. “I don’t think you want to go home alone walking. Not after what happened. Let me give you a ride.”
“Are you sure it’s okay?” She asked, unsure.
“Of course.” Relief flooded her face. “Besides, I could barely let a beautiful woman like you roam the street at night.
I opened the car door for her and put my hand on the small of her back to assist her. After I closed the door behind her, I jogged towards the driver seat and got in. Due to my haste earlier, I didn’t had the chance to kill the car so, I didn’t had to start it now.
“Where do you live?” I asked her.
“Just three blocks from here.” She answered with a pained smile. “Sorry for breaking down like that.”
“Don’t sweat it. It’s not your fault.”
The drive was a quiet one. She was looking out the window. And my hands were gripping the steering wheel tightly. I wanted to punch someone. I wanted to kill that man. Most of all, I wanted to punch myself. If only I hadn’t waited for her to pass by. If only I had left the car and went to her before she passed by that alley way.
Suddenly, a warm hand covered my right one. I looked at the hand before looking at her. She had a grateful smile on her face. “Hey, I can see you’re blaming yourself.”
“Well, I am.” I answered honestly.
“Well, don’t. Because it’s not.”
I gave her a smile before turning back to the road. My mood suddenly took a turn to the light and I didn’t know why a single touch and a single smile could make me feel like floating on cloud nine.
“This is my stop.” She informed me.
I stopped the car in front of a two story white house with a light blue picket fence and a white gate. The perfectly kept lawn was covered in snow. The house gave an aura of a simple family.
“Once again, thank you.” She said before climbing out of the car.
I watched her walked up the porch and entered the house before I drove away. After I reached my apartment, I picked my phone up and typed a message.

I could just imagine the smile she will have on her face when she reads my message. And in a minute, my phone made a ‘ping’ sound as I received a text. I immediately opened it.1025Please respect copyright.PENANARKeEuIrT0J

I laughed out loud at her reply, especially in her misinterpretation of the boogeyman tale.

Good night, Seth. -A
“Good night, Ash.” I murmured under my breath.
Goodness, this woman will be the death of me. She’s not leaving my mind.
