CHAPTER THREE 864Please respect copyright.PENANAWhvPbq8M2A
(Seth’s PoV)
I told myself countless of times not to call her early in the morning so that I won’t look like a stalker or to avoid being creepy.
But here I was, at 7 A.M in the morning, waiting for her to pick her phone up. And I was contemplating to put it down before I embarrass myself but someone answered on the third ring.
“Yes?” Her voice asked.
“Ashantee, I hope you don’t mind me calling early in the morning.” I replied as I rubbed the back of my neck. Nervous as hell like I was speaking face to face with her.
She laughed. “No, it’s actually an invited distraction since I’m walking.”
“Walking to where?”
“School, dumdum.” She answered with a laugh.
I felt my face going red with embarrassment. Of course, she was going to school. Unlike me, she’s still in high school. I mentally slapped myself and laugh nervously.
“What about you?” She asked, as if she didn’t noticed my mistake. “Don’t you have classes?”
“I have. But not ‘til one.” I answered as I poured myself a drink.
On her side, I could hear people chatting and a bunch greeting her which she returned. Suddenly, I pulled the phone away from my ear as I heard a shrill female voice shouting. I could hear her laughing and faintly speaking to whomever shouted.
“Sorry about that, Seth. But I have to go.” She said in a rush. But before she could end the call, I heard another voice.
“Ah! Don’t! I want to-“Then the line cut off.
I laughed to myself. Her friends must have been bugging her to talk to me. I only have met her yesterday but when talking to her feels like I know everything about her. And I’m talking about her like I’ve known her for ages.
“Yoohooo!” Someone shouted as the door burst opened.
I dropped my glass in shocked and I rolled my eyes at my cousin’s flair for dramatics. Taking a dust pan and a broom, I cleaned the floor out of any shattered glass. While I was cleaning, my cousin entered the kitchen with a bright smile. He couldn’t see me but I could perfectly see him.
“Seth!” He called, screaming my name. Really, this man doesn’t act like 21 years old. “Seth!”
I stood up from below the counter so he could see me and so that he would stop shouting. “Damn, Nickelodeon. Stop shouting.” I ordered and used the nickname I gave him.
His name was Nick. And he was a year older than me. So, we basically grew up together and did everything together. And his secret pleasure, even now that we were both in college, was watching Nickelodeon. And he would die if someone outside his family finds out.
“I told you not to call me that.” He pouted. “Anyway,” His mood quickly lighten up. “I’m here to ask if your free this coming Saturday.”
“Why?” I asked, pouring myself another drink.
“Well, mom and dad were planning a barbecue Saturday night. And since you’ve always been busy with school work and rarely visits them anymore.”
“Okay, then.” I said, agreeing. “I wasn’t planning anything that day. And I’ve missed your mom’s cooking.” I finished with a grin.
He stayed for breakfast before leaving because he had classes. With nothing to do, I stripped naked and took a shower. I stayed in there for an hour.
By 12 o’clock, I had my phone in my ear again. On the third ring, she answered.
“Hey,” She greeted. I heard someone asked her who she was talking too but I didn’t heard her answer.
“Hey,” I greeted back. “I was wondering if I could come and pick you up after school.”
“Afterschool?” She repeated and I could hear a bunch of girls shrieking. She tried shushing them but their voice only grew louder.
Suddenly, I could hear girls talking simultaneously.
“Who is he?”
“The boy Shantee met on the rink yesterday.”
“What does he look like?”
“Is he handsome?”
“So, are you guys dating?”
“Shut up, girls!” Ashantee pleaded. “Uhm, Seth. Sorry about that. Anyway, about your question I’m busy today. I have Drama club.”
“Oh,” I couldn’t mask the disappointment in my voice.
“Maybe next time?” She said.
“I’ll hold onto that.” I asked flirtatiously.
I could just imagine her blushing and by the shrieking of her friends, I’m guessing I was right. After a minute of talking, she had to end the call because her lunch was up.
I guess I should just go to class. Picking my bag up, I went out my apartment and drove straight to campus. Today I have Math. A subject I’ve hated since I they added letters to it. I mean, why would I even divide A and B? Not to mention minus X from Y.
I sat in the last chair. Avoiding any contact with my Prof. I wasn’t really looking forward to these three hours of torture.
But in the middle of the class, my mood definitely change when I felt my phone vibrated. Slowly, I took it out from my pocket and made sure it was out of the Prof’s sight.

A smile formed on my lips and hid my phone back into my pocket. I just found a reason to get pass this torturous subject.
By 6:00 P.M, I was on my way to a newly opened family diner near Sarah’s school. I have promised to treat her since she have passed her exam on her most difficult subject. You could say that I have spoiled her. Since, she was the only girl in all of my cousins, that was to be expected.
Not like I have many cousins Just her and her brother Nick, because aunt Jenna wasn’t gifted with a kid.
I parked my car and got out into the cold wind. It wasn’t snowing today but the ground was still white due to yesterday. I quickly entered the diner and by the side, on one of the booths, I saw a figure that has haunted me all day since yesterday.
