The shower felt so refreshing as the water pounded against my sore skin. Deciding to not put lotion on, I shrugged on a simple t-shirt and a pair of sweatpants. The pack doctor would probably need me to take my shirt off so I opted for a sports bra underneath.
Walking into the bedroom, Sebastian was lying still on the bed, scrolling through his phone. His hair was messy from today's activities and his wrinkled shirt hung loosely on his frame. Even now, I can't help but drool at the sight of him.
"I just called the pack doctor. She’ll be here in a few minutes." He murmured, his eyes still glued to his phone.
Climbing into the bed next to him, I rested my head on his chest. His heart was beating simultaneously with mine, each thump calming me down, drawing me closer to zen mode.
Rolling onto his side, he nestled his nose in my neck and inhaled deeply, sending waves of pleasure through my body. Stroking my face with his thumb, he began to trace my lips, causing them to part.
It was at times like this that I begged for his lips to touch mine. For the soft sensation to send my body into overload.
"I want you to be with me forever," He whispered. "Like this, in my arms."
Leaning closer, I placed a gentle kiss on his lips. I wanted this man more than he knew. I wanted to tell him so badly, but the fear of rejection overpowered my feelings. I didn't know how to run a pack. Hell, I didn't even know how to be a girlfriend. The one thing I did know was that I was unconditionally in love with him.
A knock on the door interrupted our moment.
"Come in," Sebastian sighed, obviously annoyed at the timing.
"Let's see what we've got here shall we?" Dr. Ellen grinned, flipping her medical bag on the bed.
Dr. Ellen was a new doctor for the pack, and a good one for that. Her small frame made her look fragile, but when she spoke, it was feisty and brimming with confidence.
"Take off your shirt please. Alpha said that your ribs are pretty bad."
Swiping away the red curls that hung in front of her face, she helped me take off my shirt. The pain was bearable but lifting my arms felt like a million needles stabbing at my skin simultaneously.
Sebastian let out a low growl as I winced from the pain, his protective nature showing even when I was receiving help.
"How does it look?" I questioned, straining my head to the side to properly look at my body with her.
"It's all pretty superficial. Take some Advil and rest. If the pain worsens, we will take some x-rays of your ribs, but for now I think you're good," She winked, helping me back into my shirt.
As quick and easy as she came, she was gone, leaving us in silence.
"If you were a werewolf, they would be healing already," Sebastian sighed, breaking the silence.
"Could I be a werewolf, or become one?" I thought, but quickly shook the questions out of my head. There was still so much I didn't know or understand.
"Will you teach me how to be a Luna?" I asked, my eyes heavy from the fight.
Propping himself on his elbows, he ran his fingers through my hair. "I will teach you whatever you want, my love."
Closing my eyes, I could see Sebastian waiting at the altar as rows of metal and white chairs lined my way to him. With each excited step I took down the black silk path, white and pink rose petals floated gracefully to the ground while others landed lightly on our guests.
Faces I’d never seen before and smiles I was destined to meet watched as I got closer to the man I loved. Their voices were booming in my ears like music from an orchestra, on cue and in unison.
But then, their faces started to contort, the silk beginning to rip and tear from the floor. Then, the room began to spin; White and pinks flashing and blurring into one. Faster and faster the images spun until I allowed the looming darkness to consume me.

Waking up in the middle of the night, I was in agony. Movement was not an option as my body felt paralyzed. The pain coursing through my veins was enough to kill even the strongest of men. Beads of sweat rolled down my face as Sebastian hastily wiped them away.
"Why does it hurt so bad?" I cried out.
He tried to comfort me but I could see his hesitation. His eyes were tired with bags underneath them, a shade darker than grey.
The blood boiled painfully inside of me, erupting into millions of blinding stars. "Make. It. Go. Away!” I screamed in pain, my body jerking and shaking against my will.
Engulfing my body in his, he held me close and rocked me back and forth. My vision was going in and out, everything becoming a blur.
The door slammed open as Erik and Noah stormed through it. Their conversation with Sebastian was muffled, "He's gone, alpha. We have trackers on him now."
A growl filled the room as Sebastian winced at my pain.
"Everyone out!" Ellen demanded, watching the scene unfold before her eyes. "She has to be sedated!" Her growl was deeper than the rest, almost menacing.
Kissing my forehead, he cupped my cheeks in his hands. "I love you, Veronica."
Pain surged through my veins, my back arched, and my eyes lolling to the wall behind me. A mask was quickly placed on my face, causing my tense muscles to finally loosen.
"Am I going to die?" I asked Ellen through gritted teeth.
Sadness filled her face, and her brown eyes looked deep into mine.
"I don't know."
