Sebastian’s arms were still around me, his back towards the trees as he nestled his nose in my neck. I could feel the over abundance of heat that was radiating off of his body as he held me close. It felt so good that I didn't want it to end, but a faint thumping, barely discernible caught my attention.
Slowly pulling my eyes away from him, my ears picked up the loud thumps as they increasingly grew closer until my eyes picked up on the cause. A shadowy black mass, perfectly blended with the inky darkness of the forest, was charging straight toward the car.
It's amber eyes glinted menacingly, hunger and loathe reflecting effortlessly. Its lips pulled back, releasing a growl, revealing a perfect set of ivory canines.
Without fail, it started charging the car, threatening to crush us to death, our air cut off by its weight.
“SEBASTIAN NO!” I screamed, just as everything went black.
Coming to my senses, I carefully pressed my hands against my throbbing head and looked at my fingers that were splattered with blood. I felt the warm fluid leaking down the side of my face shuddered at the feeling. I was alone, and Sebastian was nowhere to be seen.
"Sebastian? Sebastian!" I cried out.
Trying to peek through the busted windshield, I was able to make out two masses. One was inky black and the other was a snowy white.
"What the hell is that?" I almost shouted, adrenaline pulsing through me wildly.
Carefully, I pushed my door open and stood up slightly to see what was going on. Trying to make out the blur of masses in the dark that were jumping and attacking one another, it was impossible to make out their exact forms.
A growl. This was not just any growl from any animal. It was blood curdling, hair raising. It belonged to a wolf, a wolf that was attacking and out for blood. The sound shuddered through my bones and shook me to the core.
The two masses were inching closer and closer to the car. I snapped out of my trance and threw myself back into the car, locking the doors. I refused to be caught in another wolf attack.
The black wolf pounced on the other’s back, growling and snapping its teeth in an attempt to grab its scruff. The white wolf quickly advanced forward dropping the black wolf to its feet. Charging towards each other again, they collided with an earth shattering bang. I could hear the crunching of bones as the wolves howled in pain, but continued forward, refusing to
For a minute, the two wolves stood their ground, regaining their breath, eyeing the other cautiously. Strands of drool dangling from their mouths, muscles rippling with every bated breath. The white wolf’s tail swished back and forth rhythmically, almost waiting for the black wolf to act first.
The yellow orbs narrowed, and the black wolf sprung on all fours, its dirt ridden claws outstretched towards its opponent. Cleverly, the white wolf rolled out of the way and dug it's fangs into the other’s charred black tail.
This white wolf was strong, agile, and had human-like intelligence. Its muscles rippled powerfully in anticipation as the black wolf prowled towards it, lips curling up to a human-like sneer. Both wolves hunched down, circling each other, waiting for the other to strike.
Lunging forward, the white wolf slapped its white paw down on the others snout causing its head to snap upwards. Within a second, the white wolf had its jaws around the throat of the black mass and ripped away its fur and throat, blood spurting in all different directions, decorating the white ones coat.
Howling into the air, the victorious wolf stood tall and shook out the blood from its fur.
"Holy shit," I whispered, panicking, praying it couldn't smell me in the car.
The anger glowing in its yellow eyes had slowly started to dissipate. The yellow was becoming softer tinged with hints of sadness.
Calmly, the wolf started wandering to the side of the road, inching closer but stopping every few seconds, hesitating.
"What is it doing?" I thought, my body shaking with profound fear.
From the passenger side window it stared at me, cocking its head to the side. Its snout was glistening crimson and little specks of dried blood dotted its head.
It's eyes now dulled to a blue with swirls of gray. Deja vu spurred through my consciousness, but I hastily brushed it off. I was possibly hallucinating right now from that horribly gruesome scene.
"Get away. GO, GO!" I screamed at the wolf. "Not again, please." I pleaded, my vision starting to distort from the building tears.
I climbed over the small center console of the driver’s seat in hopes to moving farther away from it. I just wanted to be in my bed, safe inside my house, away from all this maddening chaos.
My hands started trembling and breathing started becoming ragged. I couldn't fight the spinning butterfly effect that was working from my stomach up to my throat.
The one thing I didn't want to do, I did. Pulling my legs up to my chest, I placed my head on my knees and cried.
My sobbing was getting louder and the internal pain worsened with every tear that fell. After several minutes, my tears had run dry and I looked around blankly outside. The realization of being lost finally hit me like a ton of bricks.
I didn't know where I was, I didn't know how to get home.
Stretching my arms and upper body from the driver space to the passenger seat, I grabbed my purse and furiously started dialing the only person who could help me right now.
"Tessa," I croaked, "You have to come get me."
Her voice instantly turned panicky. "What's wrong? What happened? Where are you right now?"
"I don't know. A wolf attacked our car and now Sebastian is gone." Stumbling through my words, I tried to compose myself enough to tell her what she had to do.
"Track my phone, Tessa," I demanded, “I don't know if it's going to come back.”
