Owen gulps slightly as he walks along the Star-gate hallway alone for the first real time ever in his life, clutching Sebastian & Rain's Core Control Panel Ball to his chest.
Everyone had either left him, was dead or escaped like a certain man, ex-friend who he hopes he never sees again as long as they both shall live.
Now what is he going to do, alone? Should he jump blindly into another timeline as anywhere would be better than where he is lonely or should he stay alone because it's what he deserves based on his sins to fish Rain's body from the lake and bury it alongside Avery's body next to her dead twin sister and some other friends who are no longer alive.
But his train of thought is interrupted when a pair of footsteps sound behind him. Whoever it is, they're clearly walking fast, now running to catch up to him.
"Owen! Wait up! Wait up for me!"
He stiffens, the voice familiar. Tears pool in his eyes and he immediately drops the control panel in his arm, not caring about it in the slightest as it hits the ground. He throws his arms around the persons neck and they hug back before both of them let go, stepping away from each-other.
"Harriet... I-I thought you had left, forever again." Owen speaks up.
"Sebastian and Rain should never have dragged you back here in the first place after you ran away the first time, took Julius deal or imprisoned, and locked Ethan up."
"It's all in the past and I was going to run away again, but sometimes some things or friends are more important than others so, I came back for you.
You know what they say about the Core... Every decision has multiple outcomes. Ethan took Image-on back home, my home.
She's been heavily damaged by Sebastian. A-lot of her operating systems aren't operationing or functional.
She's no longer dangerous, but also less 'human' now. His going to check her over, make list of what needs to be repaired and see what he can do for her,
No one there is angry at us for what happened, but I feel for us to apologize anyway to them would be a good idea."
"Yeah, probably for the best. Saying sorry anyway never hurts. So Harriet, why are you here?"
"I told you. I'm here for you. The Core lays out multiple paths for us and later if you want, you could come with me to see Ethan, Image-on and my home could be your home too so you're not here, lonely or ever feeling abandoned."
"I'll think about it..."
"And, Owen? Someone or should I say multiple special individuals want to say, hi. They have a mission for us." Harriet says pointing. Owen slowly turns around and a young woman with brown skin, freckled dotting and long white wavy hair pulled into a ponytail, tied off with a red bow, her eyes purple, complete wit a warm smile, wearing black lace up boots, a black woolen coat with a white dress underneath and perfectly manicured hot pink nails is standing there before them.
"W-who are you?" Owen chokes out. This mysterious woman opens her mouth to reply.
"You can just call me, Kiki. I don't believe in formalities all the time so my complete title isn't necessary. My human name will do just fine.
I called out to Harriet to return back here, but you also matter to her. You both have grown up beside each-other even if you're not biologically related.
I have a job for both of you. Complete it without complaint to the best of your ability and you shall be rewarded.
The Core Control Panel you have there." She says, levitating the ball from Owen's hands slightly who panics an
grasps it. "I want you both to spend some time here in this... Hallway. It's a safe place between worlds, timelines for people. Human or not.
If anyone ever comes through any of these stargate portals or ends up here in unknown way to you, use the control panel to send them to where ever they want to go.
I've made you half-angels for the time being so you can weild the control panel, but I don't want you moving on to develop skills, your appearances altering.
When your task is done, that you both have worked together as a team, I will notify you both and you can leave for your new home.
Now, the Core is very busy as you know so I'll leave you both to it and you can have a bit of a head start.
I have other matters to attend too soon now... See you around, Harrier & Owen." She says walking away from them, hands behind her back, blending into the hallway, a few speckles of glitter left behind.
"Was that-" Owen begins.
"Let's not question it, Owen. We do what were supposed to here and then we can just... leave for our new lives.
There's too much pain here." Harriet whispers.
It's silent between Harriet and Owen. They share a nod and then they hear the sound of a star-gate warping.
A young woman comes stumbling out of it, clothes rather old, tattered and patched, pale as can be with short black hair that is in a ponytail, clearly choppily cut and dull eyes, no life in them.
She is holding a locket in her palm and rests on her hands on her knees, gasping for air. She looks up at them desperately. "I-I'm looking for, Magic's Peak! D-do you know where that is?!" She cries out, asking them as she regains her breath and stands up straight not long after. Owen and Harriet look at each-other.
Harriet giving an encouraging nod to him, Owen slowly taps on the Core Ball his holding and it begins to glow, activating so they can help her reach her destination.
To be continued...
