Isaiah's eyes widened when he saw the silver coin. Mojag seemed indifferent, but his eyes said a different story. "I knew it. You're a werewolf."
"M-Mr. Mojag, I don't know what you're talking about."
Mojag glared at Isaiah. "Don't lie to me, young man. I can sense two spirits within you, and one is not human. It is the spirit of an animal. I wanted to do this to confirm my suspicions. You would not be concerned with silver if you are not a werewolf." Mojag motioned the silver in closer to Isaiah. "Touch it."
The Alpha felt sweat form on his neck as he backed away. "This is not good! This is not good! You can swipe the silver coin from his hand!" said Rafael.
"I don't want to be rude. Either way, Mojag knows what we are. It's best that I tell him the truth."
Rafael rolled his eyes. "Yeah, and then what? He will take Alyara away from us! Like hell, I will let that happen! It took us many years to find our mate! I told you to let me take over! I can be persuasive."
"You said you would push him over the railing; you damn wolf! I'd be crazy if I let that happen. I should come clean to him since he won't believe a thing I say; he's too smart for that."
"Well, if I were you, I would turn into my wolf form and give him a bite in his bum if he tried to take Alyara away from us."
"Shut it, Rafael!" Isaiah cleared his throat. "Suppose we say you're right. What then?"
Mojag stood silently as he took the silver coin back to his pocket. "So you won't deny it?"
"I'm curious about what you will do and say. Especially for Alyara, I know she's your daughter, and you love her dearly. I love her too."
The older man stared at Isaiah. "So you're not denying that you're a werewolf?"
"No, sir."
The silver coin was put away. "In our culture, we would call your kind 'yee naaldlooshii,' a skinwalker. Skinwalkers don't usually have the best reputations and are feared within our culture. My people wouldn't even dare utter their name."
"You may consider me a skinwalker, a werewolf, or a monster; I don't care. What I do care about is Alyara. She is my mate."
The older man crossed his arms. "Which means she is bound to you."
"Yes, we werewolves believe in the Moon Goddess; Alyara was given to me by the will of the Moon Goddess. We werewolves love our mates."
"You said that your mates are chosen, creating a bond. How can you be sure what you feel is love and not just a measly spell?"
The Alpha knew that Mojag was testing him; it did annoy him a bit. Yet, Isaiah couldn't entirely blame Mojag. The older man is a father who loves and cares for his daughter.
"This old man is getting annoying. Can I take over and scare him off, please?" pleaded Rafael.
Isaiah ignored Rafael. "When I smelled her scent and saw her for the first time, I felt my whole world stop. I felt my entire existence was meant for her. My life had a purpose once again when I first saw her. My heart would only beat for her; I had this strong need and want to protect her from all harm. All I want is to give her the world, have a life together, go through the good and bad times, and die together." The Alpha then gave Mojag a determined look. "I know you're a Father who wants what is best for Alyara, but I will not let her go because of your disapproval."
Silence reigned again as a small gust a wind went through them. "Does my daughter know about what you are?"
"She does. Alyara was surprised at the beginning but accepted me. She was afraid that you and your wife would find out. She didn't want you to get the wrong idea."
Mojag sighed. "My daughter is an adult; if she knows of your identity, I can't do anything. Though, I would have never imagined that I would meet an actual werewolf."
"You will not keep us apart?"
The older man shook his head. "My daughter would never forgive me if I did. I am slightly surprised about your identity, but you seem a decent young man. However, you know what I will do to you if you harm my daughter."
"Of course. I would expect that from any Father."
"I will keep this a secret, especially from my wife. My wife is a blabbermouth. She will yap away to our reservation if she finds out what you are."
Isaiah chuckled. "We wouldn't want that."
The two entered the apartment, where mother and daughter spoke. The men took their seats and continued eating. Alyara got close to Isaiah's ear. "Is everything okay? Did my dad give you a hard time?"
"Don't worry, everything is fine."
"See, everything went well! I didn't even have to do anything!" said Rafael.
Isaiah mentally rolled his eyes as he ignored Rafael.
