Isaiah POV
I stood on the balcony, looking at the night sky. The full moon was in sight. What a beauty to behold.
Yet, it's even more tragic when you have no one to share the sight of it. A sigh escaped my lips, and I then looked at the ground. I was staying at a hotel in Downtown Los Angeles. I was here for business; I am CEO of Boeing and other corporations known to man. I have more money than God could have.
Besides being wealthy, I have always been told that I was handsome even for my age, thirty-eight. I don't age as fast, and there is a reason why.
I am a werewolf.
I am not the only one; there are many werewolves worldwide, but we keep our identities a secret. If the human race discovered our existence, it would be catastrophic; even governments worldwide could be involved, and few of us worldwide.
That is why we hide in the dark but still live beside humans.
Besides being a werewolf among my kind, I am an alpha, a pack leader. My pack is the Crimson Blood pack. Even though I am an Alpha and a CEO who can have what I want, I am not entirely happy. There is one thing, one person, that I genuinely wish for.
A mate.
A mate is a werewolf's everything. It is a part of them that they need to love. Usually, werewolves have their first transformations when they turn eighteen and can find their mates that age, but for alphas, we transform when we turn sixteen and find our mates earlier.
I still haven't found her.
When I was younger, I wanted my freedom and did not want a mate. I slept with many women, whether they were werewolves or humans. I had the life, but my mentality changed as I got older. I have seen many of my friends and pack members having their mates by their side, either humans or werewolves and having their own families. I felt envious. Even now, I still feel it in my heart.
I wish that I wasn't such an ass back then. I wish I could have found my mate, but karma bit me in the ass. I have always prayed to the Moon Goddess to help me find my mate, but it was useless. I even traveled to different parts of the world, but nothing.
"Thinking again?" asked a deep voice.
I trailed out of my thoughts. "As always, Rafael."
Rafael was my wolf spirit. Werewolves have wolf spirits to guide them once they transition to sixteen. To my luck, Rafael was a blabbermouth who didn't know when to shut up. He was an annoying jokester who couldn't make a good joke. "Thinking about when we'll find our mate?"
"As always."
Rafael huffed. "Well, it's your fault, dummy. Since I became your spirit ally, I told you that finding our mate is important. Alas, you chose to be a male whore and whored yourself worldwide."
I sighed in annoyance. Why in the hell was I given Rafael as my spirit wolf? However, I couldn't deny that he was speaking the truth. "Well, I learned my lesson, Rafael. I still haven't given up, and I will go to the end of the abyss to find my mate."
"OUR mate, dummy. You're the one who got us into this mess. Damn right, you will keep on looking for our mate. I will annoy you to death until you find our mate."
Rafael kept yapping, and I decided to zone him out for peace of mind. I looked at the sky and moon and closed my eyes. I swear that I will find my mate, and when I do, I will never let her go. My heart won't allow it.
