Isaiah was in his study, looking at some paperwork. It was mid-afternoon and Friday, which he was thankful for. He had a tiring week. There were so many meetings he had to go to and paperwork he had to do. What made it more tiring was that he could not see Alyara. It had been two days, and he was restless, but his wolf made it worse. His wolf would not stop his mind from linking him to go to Alyara.
He knew where she lived but did not want to go immediately, for he did not want to be seen as a creep. Isaiah's wolf threatened that he would try to take control if they did not see Alyara soon. "I want to see our mate! This is torture, Isaiah!"
The man was annoyed with his wolf for bugging him so much. "I know, but I don't want to come out looking desperate."
"I'm not going to stop bugging you, Isaiah. Let's see our mate, even if it's just for a little bit! I know you want to see her too!"
The CEO sighed in annoyance. He knew Rafael had a point; the wolf wouldn't stop. "Alright, we'll go, but you better behave."
"I promise!"
It was 4 pm, and he thought it was an excellent time to go. He could no longer concentrate on the paperwork. Isaiah left his house to his car and went off to his mate's home. The cool air made him calm his nerves as he drove on the road. His wolf hummed in happiness as they were to see their mate.
"You know, there is something I have been wondering, Isaiah."
"What is it?"
"Our mate is human. How are you going to explain our true form?"
Isaiah flinched. He has forgotten that crucial aspect. "I-I haven't thought about it." However, humans were slowly accepting the possibility of otherworldly things existing. Werewolves were always part of human stories and legends, and they were celebrated in movies and television shows. He held hope that Alyara would be accepting of him. "I will tell her the truth when the time comes. I can't keep my identity hidden forever."
His werewolf mentally rolled his eyes. "What happens if she rejects us?"
Isaiah almost stepped on his breaks. The thought of Alyara rejecting him would break his heart and will to live. If a werewolf's chosen mate rejects them, the will to live becomes minimal. It would tear his heart. "She won't reject me. I have a feeling that she won't."
Rafael huffed. "If she did, would you do the decent thing and take her away?" The CEO was silent; Rafael chuckled. "You dog! You have given me hope. I knew some of you still hold onto the old ways."
Isaiah turned to the street that would lead to Alyara's home. He didn't want to resort to the ways of his forefathers. He wanted to do it in the human form of courting, which would take time, but he was willing to be patient if needed. Moments later, he arrived at the apartment complex; he smelled her scent from afar.
"She's home." He got out of his car and walked toward the building. Isaiah got in front of the door and knocked on it; he waited. Then, the door slowly opened.
It was her.
His mate.
His love.
His Alyara.
She wore a long white dress with traditional Native American designs and a shawl on her shoulders. Alyara was stunned. "Isaiah? What are you doing here?"
He looked at her and felt his heart was about to break free from his chest. "H-Hi, sorry to come here unannounced, but I was wondering if you would like to go out for a nice cup of coffee? I-I couldn't stop thinking about our time at the restaurant."
"Oh, um, well..." Alyara didn't know what to think or feel. She couldn't deny that she did enjoy her time with Isaiah. She couldn't explain why she held some excitement whenever she was with him.
"It's just for a cup of coffee. I won't take you anywhere extravagant. I realize you are more of a person who enjoys the simple things in life. I know a nice small coffee shop that makes their drinks more traditional. Also, their desserts are to die for. What do you say?"
It was silent. The silence was making him nervous. "You could always take her away, Isaiah! We could take our mate here and now. We can live happily ever after," said Rafael. He was ignored.
Alyara sighed. "Alright, let me put on a jacket and get my purse. Only coffee."
Isaiah sighed in relief. "Yes, only coffee. I will wait for you." He watched Alyara enter her home to change and get her purse. He felt victorious, but now he had to think of ways to convince her to go out with him. He had to find out more about her male friend, and by the end of the day, he would contact his guards to see if they had found anything useful. Maybe Alyara will tell him anything useful.
