~Chapter 6~
Corri and the sparrow flew along the skies before landing on a sky island on the way back to the city. The sparrow stayed close to her, seeming to trust her. She looked on the red-feathered bird and decided to call him Rojo. She allowed him to rest for a moment before they continued onward.
While she waited on that island, she noticed a stirring in the winds around them. The sky began to turn grey, the clouds a dark black. It was another storm. Corri climbed onto Rojo.
Corri eyed a black cloud near them which seemed to draw closer. Several crows burst from it towards them.
"Time to go!" She shouted and she flew off on Rojo from their pursuers.
A red blur streaked through the sky, followed by several pitch black blurs. As Corri and Rojo flew, more crows appeared as if from nowhere. They evaded the crows by taking harsh turns through the air, cutting around other sky islands to throw them off, but with the sheer number of them it was no use.
A crow charged into Corri and Rojo and they fell to a nearby sky island. Dozens of crows surrounded them. Corri threw Focus bursts to keep them at bay, but there were too many.
One of the crows came forward with the mysterious being from before riding on it. He looked down at Corri with his luminescent orange eyes, his thin face was almost expressionless. If anything, he seemed to be curious.
Suddenly, whirling winds surrounded them, tossing the crows around in the air. A giant figure emerged from below, spreading out its massive wings in air and with a single powerful flap, created gusts of winds that launched the crows away. The figure appeared to be an owl, far larger than any other bird that soared through the skies.
The orange eyed being whistled, and the flock of crows grouped around him. They fled from the owl.
The turbulent winds that the crows brought with them seemed to subside, and the weather became tranquil. The owl landed on the same island as Corri and looked down at her, cocking its head to the side. It wrapped its wings around it like a cape.
"Are you okay young one?" A booming voice came from the Owl. It stared at Corri waiting for a response.
"...You can talk?" Corri stammered out.
The owl chuckled, "Yes. I am the Sky Deity Ool, a Servant of the Goddess. May I ask again if you are okay?"
Corri stammered again, "Yes, I'm fine. Thank you so much!"
Ool extended one of its massive wings towards the sky city, "Would you like me to escort you back to the city?" Ool asked respectfully.
Corri smiled, trying to convey her thankfulness, "Yeah, if you don't mind!"
Corri and Rojo flew along the skies with Ool. With each flap of Ool's wings, reverberations were sent through the air which Rojo had to adjust to.
"Ool, can I ask you something?" Corri asked.
"Go ahead young one."
"There was a man commanding those crows, but he didn't look normal. Who was he?" Corri asked, the figures orange eyes still clear in her mind.
"That was Lunahreim, a being that disgraces the Goddess with his very existence. I have tried to vanquish him in the past, but he always manages to escape." Ool said, spite in his voice, "I could not allow him to harm you."
The people of the Sky City watched in amazement as the Sky Deity Ool approached their city with Corri. It had been years since anyone had seen a glimpse of Ool and none of them could recall a time where he associated directly with mere mortals. Seeing the Sky Deity so closely was like something out of an old legend. Ool perched himself atop one of the largest buildings in the city and Corri landed on the sky dock with Rojo. A crowd grouped around her and the sky deity.
"Thank you so much Ool!" Corri said as if to a good friend. Ool nodded. He launched off the large building and descended into the clouds, disappearing from sight.
When Cielo had found Corri returned, there was a mix of relief and amazement. He had worried that she had fallen to her death when the crows attacked, and was amazed to see that not only had she tamed a bird and made it back home, but that she was accompanied by the Sky Deity. Who exactly was this child from the ground below? 322Please respect copyright.PENANAxFjmPt3g7n
