Previously:
Mariah had also told me I could stay as long as I wanted to. That she would always have a room open for me, wherever she is living. I was so happy to have someone like her in my life. 756Please respect copyright.PENANArflqwTyFWy
Throughout our whole phone call my mind kept going back to my friends but I didn’t want to bring it up yet. It would wait till I was at her house and we could talk face to face so I could tell her everything. I could always talk to her. 756Please respect copyright.PENANAFPJ4jgWQ86
After we had hung up I had fallen asleep before I could call the nurse back into my room to giver her the phone the back.756Please respect copyright.PENANAiG6AnremFW
Now:
The next day went by fast. When I had woken up my parents had already been to the hospital and signed the release papers and left again. All my stuff had been packed and set in the chair next to the bed and the nurses were unhooking everything connected to me.
I was up and ready to go by 9, I still had an hour before Mariah was picking me up. Julia had talked to a nurse, telling her she and Star were on their way. I was waiting on them.
They showed up around 9:30 with all of Star’s things. We talked for a little while waiting on Mariah. Star and Julia were a little sad that they wouldn’t see each other any more which made me decide to let Julia visit. It was the least I could do to repay her for taking Star in and raising her when I couldn’t.
When Mariah got to the hospital she came to my room to help me with what little I had and Star’s things. As soon as I saw her I ran across the room to hug her. We stood like that for a few minutes and then I introduced Star and Julia.
Later that night Mariah had told me that she was really glad it was Julia that raised Star and that she did a good job.
Once the four of us had loaded everything from the hospital into Mariah’s car we all said bye to Julia and watched her drive away.
When the car was out of our view I put Star in her carseat that Julia had given me and buckled her in then got in myself.
Driving to my house there was no conversation in the car. I was too caught up in my own thoughts about what was going to happen at my parent’s, Star was asleep in the backseat and Mariah was giving me time to get my thoughts cleared up. For that I was thankful, Mariah was always like this, letting there be silence for someone else who needs it.
A few minutes from my old house Mariah told me to call and let them know I was stopping to get everything. The conversation was short; I told them I was coming, they said they had already packed everything up and would have it waiting for me. That was it, no bye or anything.
Hearing that everything was already packed up made me wonder if this was done before I woke up. I didn’t have much stuff but it would take at least a few days to pack it all up. If that’s what they did it wouldn’t surprise me. It’s not like they ever really cared about me, it was only ever their ‘picture perfect family’.
At the house I could see they really weren’t kidding about having it waiting. There were boxes all over the front lawn with my name written across them, as if they were just thrown out. We left Star, sleeping in the car and loaded all the boxes. They just barely fit in Mariah’s SUV.
On one of the boxes my mom had written a small note. “We kicked out, that means don’t come into the house.” That stung. They could have had the decency to say bye or at least show they cared a little bit. But I guess this just tells me that this is for good. I would never see them again. I was dead to them and according to them, they should be dead to me.
I had stopped to read the note, Mariah saw and came over to see what it was. She noticed the way I flinched while reading it. She took the box to the car and hugged me. She told me that it would all be okay, that I had her now and wouldn’t have to deal with them ever again.
I knew this but it still hurt to know that my own parents wanted nothing to do with me.
After we loaded everything in the SUV we finally headed to Mariah’s house. It was a short drive from my parents house. We got there around 6. We had stopped to get drinks and chips from a gas station a few blocks away.
Her house was amazing! It smelled like fresh baked cookies and was very homey. Much different from my old house. That house never felt lived in it, it was only for show, not homey. She had some newer things and some older things that were most likely passed down through her family.
There were three bedrooms, one for Mariah and her boyfriend, who was still at work, one for me and I decided to give Star the other room. The downside was that there was only one bathroom, we would all have to share.
Star was still sleeping when we got there, so I took her in and set her on the couch in her carseat and then went back to the SUV to help Mariah bring all the stuff in.
We carried all my boxes to my room and Star’s to hers. There was already a crib in one room, when I asked Mariah about it she said that it was needed so she got it just like mine in my room. I told her that wasn’t necessary and she had said she wanted to and that was the end of that. I put Star in her bed and unpacked her stuff while she slept. Then when I finished I went and unpacked my stuff. I finished unpacking around 8 and went downstairs to Mariah.
I heard talking in the living room and followed it to find Mariah and her boyfriend cuddling on the couch and talking.
I walked in and they instantly stopped talking. “Aviana, this is Jeff, my boyfriend.” She stood up and pointed to him. Then to Jeff she said “Jeff, this is Aviana the girl I’ve been telling you about.”
I was waiting for him to extend his hand for a handshake but instead he stood up and wrapped his arms around me. “It’s nice to finally meet the young lady I’ve heard so much about.”
He threw me off guard doing this but I slowly wrapped my arms around him and said, “You too.”
He let go and they both sat down in their previous positions gesturing for me to sit down also.
I complied and sat in the chair next to the couch they were on. “So where’s the beautiful baby I hear you have, Avaina?” Jeff asked me while smiling.
“She’s upstairs sleeping. She should be waking up soon though.”
“I can’t wait to meet her.” I could tell I was going to like him as much as Mariah. He was nice and he obviously didn’t care that I was a teen mom.
The three of us sat there just talking. They told me about themselves and I told them as much about myself leaving out everything about the coma.
Mariah and Jeff both had taken of work the next day because Star and I were coming today and we could all get to know each other and get things settled.
The day had wore me out causing me to go to bed early. Star didn’t wake up till later in the middle of the night so Jeff didn’t get to meet her yet.
Overall today had been good, except my parents house, and I was glad to have Mariah.
In bed all I could think about was my friends. I still needed to talk to Mariah about them and the coma, but that could wait till tomorrow. With that thought in mind I fell asleep.
