Shocked? Heck, I was speechless. How is Amber fucking pregnant? It's impossible!
"Please say something," he looks at me wearily.
"Tyler, what do you expect me to say?" I add, "This is hard to believe."
"I know that, and I'm finding it hard to believe myself."
We sat in silence, each of us clouded by their own thoughts. For me, all I thought about was—God, forgive me—Amber. Yes, ladies and gentlemen, I was actually thinking about that bitch of a girlfriend. I was wondering how she was dealing, what was her plan, and how can she even be pregnant. Amber, the Queen B of the school, the girl who slept with almost all the school male population, could possibly be carrying a baby in that flat belly of hers. How can this be?
"Did you sleep with her?" I ask, and Tyler gives me a look of disbelief that basically said, 'are you kidding?'
"I mean did you sleep with her lately," I clarify.
"No, the last time was before the party."
"It must be way before the party for her to get to two months," I say.
"Well, it's not necessarily the last time that got her pregnant."
"Ok, but did you use protection?"
"Nicole, we always take the safe way, but shit happens and condoms break."
"So your condom broke?"
"Most likely," he was starting to get mad now by all the questions I've been throwing at him. Hey, it's not every day that my friends tell me they're expecting.
Silence fell upon us once again, and I waited for him to chill. I drank my milkshake, quietly looking at him to see the pissed expression slowly fade away. Once he was completely cooled down, he let out a big sigh and reached out to hold my hand. I was surprised by the gesture, but when I see the desperate look in his eyes, I softened for him and put my other hand above his.
"Nicole, you're the only one who can help me with this," he pleads.
"What do you want me to do?"
"Tell me what to do. I'm completely lost and in desperate need of advice."
"Ty, it's not my decision to make," I say. "But if you want my advice, I'll give it to you. You're not alone in this. Amber is in this too, and with whatever decision you wanna take, you gotta go back to her."
"So what if we disagree?"
"You need to understand that it's gonna be harder for her. After all, she's the one with the big belly," I try to reason with him.
He nods, "I'll talk to her."
He lets go of my hand after I rub his a little for comfort. He then folds his arms together and leans back in his chair, staring into the distance. I can feel the pressure that's on him right now. It's the toughest decision, and if I were in his place, I wouldn't even know how to cope.
"Tyler, I'll always be here for you, buddy."
"I know," he smiles at me. "Can you not tell the guys? I need to know what to do first."
"Of course," I grin, "only if you come back home with me."
"I can't, Nic, sorry. I'm just not in the mood."
"Dude, come on. Kat and Rosie are out for 2 days, and we've got the house to ourselves."
"Who's Rosie?"
"Kat's sister. She came with her son, and they're staying over for a few days till they find a house to stay. They're moving to LA for good," I fill him in quickly.
"So everyone's there?"
"Yup. Now come with me," I stand up and pull his arm.
"Nicole, seriously, I don't—"
"If this is about Jordan, then you're unbelievable. It was a fucking party. He was drunk; she was drunk; they were drunk, so they made a mistake. Get over it."
"How can I just get over it? My best friend kissed my girlfriend."
"Correction: she kissed him," I couldn't stop myself. I know that saying that would just cause a problem between Tyler and Amber, but I can't just sit and watch my two best friends fight and be quiet about it. Jordan did make a mistake, but he doesn't deserve that much hatred fro Tyler's part, especially when he was the closest one to him.
"It doesn't matter who started. I'm mad at both of them, but mostly at my best friend for betraying me."
"Well, he feels bad, too, you know. He's not enjoying his time with us as much as he did when you were around. Tyler, you and him have the strongest friendship that some of us would get jealous. I know he made a mistake, but you've already punished him enough. I can't just handle seeing you both apart, alright? I know he feels guilty about it, Ty. He's hurt that he hurt you."
"I'm just not ready to forgive him." Well, that speech was all for nothing. Way to waste oxygen, Nicole.
"Oh, but you easily forgave Amber?"
"Amber has a bigger problem on her shoulders at the moment. Also, she's my girlfriend."
"But you didn't know Amber for more than 15 years." Tyler and Jordan have been friends for 15 years. They're actually next-door neighbors, so they would spend time at each other's' house since they were in kindergarten.
"Whatever, do you expect me to apologize?"
"Well, maybe if you check your phone, you'll know how hard he did his part."
I slam money on the table for my milkshake, "Thanks for understanding, Tyler." I'm not letting him pay for me.
"Hey, Nicole," he calls for me as I leave the coffee shop.837Please respect copyright.PENANAm1Qtq2ZGPu

I slam the front door and strode to the living room. I find Dylan and Will sitting on the couch, each with a controller in hand and a beer can in front of them. They seem so engrossed in a game of COD, yelling at the screen and at each other that they barely noticed my presence. I remove my hoodie and throw myself on the couch, in the tiny space between them.
"OW!" Well, I think the space wasn't big enough. They moved farther apart to let me squish in between the two. I'm that annoying, forgive me.
"What's up with Tyler?" Dylan asked.
"How did you know—"
"I told them," Will said. He must've known from my conversation with Tyler on the phone earlier.
"I'm not in the mood right now, D," I leave them and walk to the kitchen. I find one last beer in the fridge, and I thank God for that. Seriously, I need a drink. I take a huge gulp from it before going back to the living room.
I sit back on the couch and put my can on the coffee table. I place my head on Dylan's lap and my legs on Will's, but I manage to hit his arm on the way.
"And you didn't even bother to remove your shoes," Will comments after looking at my comfortable position in disbelief. Oh, Will, you still have a lot to learn about me.
"You still haven't met her, man," Dylan says, resting now his hands on the side of my head as I watch them play. We just get comfortable around each other like that. They lose the game, and both of them let out a curse of their own.
"Dammit, we were close," Will exclaimed.
"You guys suck at this. I can beat both your asses like this," I snap my fingers.
"Oh, yeah?" Will gives me a challenging look.
"Oh, yeah, I can win this level as I'm lying down," I take the controller from Dylan and restart the level. We start the game and I get into it immediately.
"So this is completely random, but do you guys think I should go back to school?"
"Where is this coming from?" Dylan asked.
"I just thought of it," I shrug, my eyes still on the screen.
"Well, do you miss school?" Dylan asks again.
"Not really, but I do have some good memories in it."
"Like what?"
A grin spreads across my face when he asks. "Like that time Jordan tied your shoes together and you fell in the cafeteria in front of the whole school."
"Thank you, Nicole, for this pleasant throwback," he says with a fake grin. I'm shaking from laughter right now, and I can see Will laughing too.
"You're welcome, buddy."
We shoot down the last one and win the game.
"YASS!" I throw my arms in the air, "take that, losers." I slap Dylan's cheek playfully.
"I gotta admit you're good at this," Will said, lightly moving his hand up and down the bare part of my leg, which my leggings couldn't cover. I tense at his touch and look at the action of his hand. He looks like he wasn't aware of what he was doing like he was absentmindedly moving his hand on my bare skin.
"While each one just took a room upstairs, I feel like I'm on a girls night," Dylan laid back on the couch.
I hear my ringtone in my hoodie on the floor, and I jump to get it.
"You really need to change this tone," Will commented.
"Man, she had it for two years now," Dylan said.
It was Ryan.
"Hey," I say.
"Hey, how are you doing?"
"Great,"
"When am I gonna see you again?" After a short pause, he added, "I miss you."
"I miss you too," I say in a low voice, and I start leaving the living room once I notice Dylan and Will frowning.
"Well?"
"I was thinking about what you told me the other night, and guess what? You actually managed to convince me."
"So you're going back to school?" I can sort of hear the excitement in his voice.
"Maybe. I'll talk to Kat first, and I promise you'll be the first to know when it's final."
"This is awesome! I'm really happy you took my advice."
"Well, you were right. I wouldn't wanna miss Senior Year," I start going up the stairs to my room. I open the door to my bedroom and an indescribably amazing image on my bed.
Please note my sarcasm for I am not that fond of seeing Kyle's ass on my face.
I let out a scream and slam the door.
"Nicole, are you ok?" Ryan sounded worried on the other end. I almost forgot he was with me on the phone.
"NO! I just had an unpleasant image printed in my head for the rest of my fucking life!"
"Guess what, Nic? Kyle's banging a girl in your room," Will said from behind me.
Talk about a girls night. Looks like I'll be braiding Kyle's hair tonight. And it won't look pretty.
