Here’s a question: what are you worth?
We lower our standards based on our self-worth.
Are you worth the guy who treats you like crap?
Are you worth the poor actions of your friend?
Are you worth whatever you think you deserve?
Are you, really?
Don’t be so sure. You don’t have to lower yourself to something less than yourself.
We all have those imaginary totem poles in which we rate what we are worth. “Dude, that girl is smokin’!”, says your friend.
“Yeah, but she’s outta my league,” you reply.
What makes you say that? Who’s to say that that girl won’t end up being the love of your life? It’s because you’ve limited yourself to what you think you merit. You’ve set the bar and anything above that level is unattainable, right?
Why, though?
One reason might be because in today’s society, other people have made you think that. What they thought of you was how you regarded yourself. They were automatically something “better” because you let them bring you down. Those people slammed you with comments such as “loser”, “freak”, and “low-life”, etc. So, you’ve rated yourself accordingly.
You may not think of yourself as those things, but somewhere in your mind, you’ve already determined whether you’re good enough or not.
Other people’s words and thoughts should have an impact on you to an extent, but not to the point where you are degrading your own self-worth.
Being “better” is an illusion. What you see as better is what someone else may see as bad. Someone who is the kindest and most loving person may have a family that is torn apart and an issue with depression. Nothing is ever as it seems. The “better” is on the other side of worse. There is good and there is bad. Just like anything else.
Our worth should be determined by us, and us alone. No one else.
No one deserves anything less than perfect. Never settle, never lower your standards because you think that’s what you deserve.
We are great. We are beautiful. We are kind. We are brave. We are strong. We are loving. We are worth more. 905Please respect copyright.PENANAJUj0SXWzlc
