At the end of class, Mr. Moon seemed to be happy to announce there was a pop quiz tomorrow.
He was met with moans and groans, but she didn’t think too much about it. Jade wanted to hide from Noah and Storm. She wasn’t sure what was going on between them two, but they had been fighting over her like little kids.
“Come sit with me, Jade,” Storm said during lunch.
“Jade, Mr. Moon invited us to eat lunch with him.”
“Jade!”
“Jade!”
By the 7th hour, she started to hide. She asked herself the path to not see them two. She was given somewhat of a route to hide. But then, Mr. Moon had spotted her in the hallway, and not wanting to be rude, she stopped to talk to him.
“First day, liking it so far?”
“Yes,” Jade said, without hesitation.
“Friends yet?”
“A few . . . trying to hide from them.”
Mr. Moon laughed and pointed to her. “You’re funny.”
The last hour, she had neither of them in her class, and she was so thankful. It was funny, about that Storm person. She seemed like the annoying girl, the no one really wanted to be around, and yet everyone had waved and said their hellos and acted like they’ve known each other for years.
Noah had told Jade how Storm was the last new kid.
She must have been doing something wrong in this school.
