Jade finally made her bed around ten that night. She added a few more blankets than what she was used to. Her dad had went to sleep the second they entered the door.
As Jade laid in bed, she couldn’t stop thinking about their landlord. She looked at her hand again.
Soon, she closed her eyes, and drifted into sleep.
That night, something felt different, out of this world. She didn’t feel like she was asleep, she felt like a ghost, out of her own body, floating. She was lost, not sure where she was going.
Out of the blackness, a hallway appeared, and she started walking down, one foot in front of the other.
There was a strange sound, whispers calling to her. “Allisilon.”
She was confused. She kept walking down the hallway. A door appeared towards the end, and a cold chill hit Jade. She didn’t want to open it.
Under the door, shadow like sharp hands came out, crawling towards her. She screamed, trying to kick them away. There was not much she could do. They grabbed her, and forced her to open the door, and pushed her out. She landed hard on the ground.
When she looked up, the door was slammed shut, and disappeared. “Hey!” she screamed. She sat up, bringing her knees in closer to her chest. “Where am I?” she asked herself.
“Allisilon,” a voice whispered.
She looked around, not sure where it was coming from, but stood up and started walking one direction. She was in a forest, the sky gray above her, and the grass below her feet were dead.
In the shadows, eyes could be seen, watching her. Big, bright, and following her. She started to run.
“Allisilon,” the voice said.
“Please, leave me alone,” she started to cry.
She looked over her shoulder, and saw the shadow hands from before, running after her.
“Allisilon,” the voice said one more time. A figure appeared in front of her. It was a man, long, tall, so skinny that his ribs were poking through. He grabbed Jade’s wrist hard.
Then she woke up, kicking the covers off of her. Her breathing was fast, her forehead was soaked with sweat.
“Meow,” a little voice said. She looked to her floor to see the orange cat that Noah had from before somehow made it into her room.
“George . . . how did you get in my room?” she asked. She looked to her wrist, the one the figure grabbed. It was tingling, as if the it had done it in real life. George hopped on the bed, looking at her wrist with her. He started to lick it, making Jade laugh.
“Meow,” he said.
She laughed some more, and said, “Thank you, kitty. You can stay here for the night. I don’t know how you got in, but I just had a nightmare. Well, you wouldn’t really understand.”
The cat stared at her, purring. He crawled closer to her face.
“You are a very strange cat, you know that right?”
She must have been very tried, or maybe she imagined it, but the cat nodded it’s head, agreeing.
“I was running, in the forest, and this . . . thing . . . I don’t know. I’m going to try to get some sleep. You do the same thing, okay?”
The cat lowered its head, and closed his eyes, along with Jade.
