Jim got home around ten that night. Jade was already in bed when she had heard the front door open. When she tiptoed out to the living, she saw her stressful father pacing around the kitchen.
“Dad?”
“Oh, Jade, I am so sorry for getting home late.”
“It’s okay. I know you are adjusting to your work. How is it going by the way?”
“Well, I was thrown into the middle of a project, with no background on the subject. We are having this thing ship to our museum, and . . . well, it’s all boring I believe. I rather much hear about your day.”
She gulped. Mr. Moon had told her before she left, “You must not tell anyone.”
“What about my dad?”
“Not even your dad.”
Jade thought about her words, trying to push down the ones that she wanted to say. She found herself looking to the ground. “It was boring."581Please respect copyright.PENANAkVx6fuNvIW

“You’ll make friends soon enough.”
“No thanks,” she said, thinking about Storm. Jim gave a confused face.581Please respect copyright.PENANAnqOgXDu3By
She paused for a moment, and turned around to her dad, walking over and giving him the tightest hug she had given in years. Jim was taken back by it. "Everything okay?"
"Yes, dad, I just really love you."
"Uh, oh, love you too, honey," Jim said, slowly hugging her back. She let go and he watched her walk down the hallway, with that orange cat two feet behind her.
