SASUKARIN ANIME VS MANGA MISCONCEPTIONS FYSK: POINTERS FYSK: LAP THE BOND KARIN'S CHARACTER
AME NO UZUME: //A COMMON MISCONCEPTION OF KARIN'S UNDERSTANDING OF SASUKE'S CHAKRA
The anime has Karin saying “Cold as ever. He’ll never change. But still…” when she talks about Sasuke’s chakra in Box Land (the name I’ll be using to refer to the weird dimension into which Sasuke and Karin are sucked by Tobi during the Kage Summit right before the Tsuchikage almost obliterates…
Ugh, thank you for writing about this! I swear I will never understand what was Pierrot thinking when they added that random filler scene ._. That line alone completely contradicted the point Kishimoto had been literally drilling into our skulls, not only through Karin’s observations but also through her interactions with Sasuke: Sasuke had changed. And no, his chakra wasn’t always cold - otherwise Karin wouldn’t have made such a big deal of pointing out how cold he had become, because there wouldn’t have been such a striking change. So yeah, forever facepalming at it.
On top of everything you accurately mentioned, it’s also worth pointing out that Kishi has Karin comment on Sasuke’s changes, yes, but she doesn’t do so simply as a sensor who is capable of noticing that his chakra is going dark - but rather, as someone who knows him; which is something that can be noticed from the get-go in the contrast between C’s comments about Sasuke’s chakra and Karin’s, but that is ultimately illustrated by that page in 482, where the Sasuke who smile to her is explicitly contrasted with the Sasuke he is becoming. Which is pretty relevant~ but I already rambled about that in the manifesto so I won’t bore you all by repeating myself.
