Infinity slept in a different bus that night. Cameo lay shivering alone, curled up around her pillow, clutching it to his chest, crying into it. By the time morning came, his arm was throbbing, his head was pounding, and the mattress and pillow below his head were soaked in tears. He felt like death, and he knew he looked it, too. He rummaged in his backpack, trying to find a shirt, but came up empty handed. “Здорово.”
He climbed out of the compartment, swiping furiously at his tear-stained cheeks. He walked over to the bus Infinity was sleeping in and knocked on the storage locker.
“Infinity? It’s me. I want to talk to you.”
Silence.
“Please, Fin? I need to tell you something.”
Nothing.
He sighed and began to walk away, head hanging.
“Wait.”
The door on the under section opened slowly, revealing a tear-soaked Infinity.
“What do you want?” she asked, voice breaking.
“I want to apologize. I am so sorry. I don’t know what happened; I don’t know what happened that made you so mad. I thought we had worked my leaving out. But I love you, and I can’t live without you, and I need to work this out. I want you. I need you. Please.”
Infinity turned her head, trying to hide the tear sliding down her already wet cheek.
“Infinity!” he pleaded.
“Cameo, I don’t know what happened. Sometimes you’re here, sometimes you’re not. I need you here. I need you! You’re not… stable. You go crazy, going off in Russian. Now you’re hurting yourself, and I need you to stop. I don’t know what you’re going through, but you need to stop!” At this point, silent tears were flooding Cameo and Infinity’s cheeks. “I love you, and you’re too stubborn and broken to see that!” She choked back a sob. “I need you to see that.”
Cameo let out a whimper, stifling a wail. He turned and ran back to his bus. Slamming the door behind him, he cried out in anguish.
“Почему? Почему я все испортил? Это было все, что я хотел, и я все испортил! О, Фин, мне так жаль! О, я такой идиот!” Closing his eyes, he cried until he heard a knock on the door. “Oh, please don’t be Fin,” he whispered.
Luck was not on his side. The second he opened the door, a crying Infinity stood staring back at him.
“I’m sorry, Cameo. I didn’t mean it. I didn’t mean a word of it, except when I said I love you. I love you so much. So much more than you could ever know. Oh, Cameo, I’m so sorry!” she gasped out.
He stood up and took her in his arms, wiping the tears from her cheeks.
“Fin, I forgive you. I know I’m unstable; there’s no doubt about that, but I want to be there for you. I want to always be there for you, and there is nothing you could say that would change that! Please understand that, Fin.”
“Cameo-”
“No, hear me out. I would give my life to protect you. I love you.”
“My word, Cameo, shut up already!” she yelled, pushing her lips against his.
He moaned, falling, pulling her back onto the tiny mattress. “О, Фин, я люблю тебя. Ты мне нужен. Я не могу жить без тебя. Ты мой якорь. Я ненавижу себя за то, что наслаждаюсь этим, когда все, о чем я могу думать, это то, как я собираюсь предать тебя!”
“Shh, Cameo,” Infinity whispered, stroking his tangled, matted hair. “You’re okay, I promise you’re okay. Oh, I love you so, so much.”
He ran his hands along her sides, praying that this moment would never have to end. He squeezed his eyes shut, trying not to cry with all the knowledge he held. Infinity’s fingers were delicately tracing his hairline, her lips were sealed with his own, and the most beautiful girl he had ever met was lying on top of his bare chest. Why must all good things come to an end?
But all too soon, someone was standing in front of the open compartment. The figure knocked on the side of the bus, since neither lover had noticed it.
The loud noise startled Cameo and Infinity. He sat up quickly, holding Infinity close with one arm.
“Oh, hey, Ethaniel,” Cameo said, pressing his free hand to his heart. “You nearly gave me a heart attack.”
“Yeah,” Ethaniel cocked an eyebrow, “I can tell you weren’t expecting visitors.”
“Heh, what made you think that?” Cameo smiled sheepishly. “On a serious note, do you have a shirt I could borrow? I don’t think my current attire is proper, especially when I have to teach a bunch of girls in hand-to-hand combat.”
“Really?” Infinity rolled her eyes and wrapped her arms around his neck, draping herself across his lap. “I think you look just fine.”290Please respect copyright.PENANAPd9xeVouyU
