Abigail Hayes’ POV
We were suddenly in the academy courtyard. I don’t know how we get there but after I broke the kiss, we were on the air before we hit the ground.
‘ow, what the hell just happened?’ I asked myself as I was brushing off my butts. It was a pain in the ass, literally.
‘well, it looks like we have discovered your new power, I supposed,’ he said as he was looking at me. I looked at Clive confused as he was smirking at me.
‘what?’ I asked him before he got up and offered me to get to my feet.
‘well, your power. It’s growing. I can sense it,’ he said as his red rubies were glistening with mischief. I scoffed at him. I never had such a thing that happened to me before. Even after that stupid promise Satan gave me.
‘i think you’re delusional. I never been good at this remember? I have to make a deal with Satan himself. urgh! Why is my life always this hard?’ I said as I kicked a small stone on the ground. It was afternoon, all of the monsters must be sleeping now. I sighed before I basked myself in the sunlight.
‘Abigail, do you remember what the envelope contains about?’ Clive asked me after a few minutes I was trying to calm myself.
‘well, I never had the chance to open it. I went flying across town to get to you guys that night. And when I was back into my room that morning before the royal guards came to get me and hang me the next morning, without anyone knowing. I think my aunt would throw all of my stuff away at this point,’ I said as I was looking at Clive. He was very patient at listening to my stories which were why I liked him in the first place.
he nodded as he was thinking about it. I can see it in his eyes as he was holding his chin in his left hand. It made him even more handsome than he already was.
‘well, the first thing we need might be looking at your room then,’ he said at me as I was arching my eyebrow at him.
‘how do we know it was not being demolished yet?’ I asked him.
‘what is?’ He replied. I sighed.
‘my old place. My aunt must have sold it as she had moved into the castle,’ I said as I looked, Clive. He smirked at me. Something about him was not right today.
‘well, we can always try,’ he said before he appeared in front of me. now, how did he does that?
‘ready?’ He asked.
‘what—‘ was the last thing I said before he kissed me and we were gone from school.
When I opened my eyes, we were inside storage that was not my room. I scoffed at him before I looked around. No trace of the envelope.
‘well, that was worth it, getting stuck in this small storage,’ I said as I moved a bit, my hand hit Clive’s arm. All of a sudden, desire struck me. I looked away for a while before I cleared my throat.
‘so? What’s next?’ I asked after I have cleared my mind. I don’t know what to say but it would be the best thing to do was to make a backup plan. I looked into Clive’s eyes as they were hooded from my view.
‘if you look at me like that, I need to kiss you, my love,’ he said huskily as he turned me around to make eye contact.
‘I—‘
I was cut from my sentence when he kissed me. It was sweet and tender as I can sense his hands were holding me steady. I sighed in that kiss as I snaked my hands around his neck. I leaned in closer as I can sense my erected nipples were grazing his chest,
‘oh my, I’m sorry, I don’t know there were people in here,’ a voice interrupted our kiss before I looked in the direction of the voice.
‘sorry, I just want to grab something but it seems that I have come upon something,’ she said as she blushed when Clive looked at her. So she has a feeling for my man.
‘excuse me, but where are we exactly?’ I asked her as I was looking around. It was not in a house, it was outside the house but in the backyard.
‘ah, you’re in my backyard but it was just for the Senior Folks orphanage. We take care of them. You see I am a nurse there,’ she said as she was looking at us. I felt Clive was draping his hand on me.
‘excuse me to ask you about this but I supposed you don’t have any old boxes and stuff that might belong to the House of Hayes, aren’t you?’ Clive asked her. She blushed before she looked at us.
‘oh, yes, we have some record of that but we don’t know where it is now,’ she said before she blinked her eyes again.
‘Come this way please,’ she said as she went inside the house. I looked at Clive before he urged me to go first.
‘After you, my love,’ he said before he was walking behind me.
‘now, I suppose it was around here,’ the nurse said as she was rummaging through the old stuff. We were looking at a very specific box, just a medium-sized one.
‘ah-hah! Here it is,’ she said as she was holding the black box that I was familiar with somehow.
‘is it this one?’ She asked me as she was holding the box. I was mesmerized as it was not gone. The envelope must be in there.
‘yes, that’s the one,’ I said as I was looking at that box. Could it be? Our mess will be over after I know the content of that envelope.
‘well, here you go. You can have it. We don’t have any use for it anyway,’ she said as she smiled at us. She then showed us out of the old folks home.
‘Well, thank you for coming. Come again soon,’ she said as she waved at us. I was confused as she was being all nice to us as we were not strangers to her.
‘Why is she so nice? Is she under a spell or something?’ I asked Clive before he looked at me. He smirked at my question.
‘that my dear, you don’t need to know. now, let’s get down to business,’ he said before he urged me to go to a cafe that was not far from the folks’ home.
‘alright, it’s the moment of truth now,’ I said as I was about to open the box. I felt different like I have been waiting for this moment ever since I was dead.
‘hang on,’ Clive said before he drew a pentagram and chanted a spell before he blew it around us before he looked at me smirked.
‘you may continue,’ he said proudly. I arched my eyebrow at him.
‘show off much?’
‘only for you, my love,’ he said as he was smirking at me. I rolled my eyes at him before I laughed. I went to touch the lid before I said a prayer.
‘here goes nothing,’ I said as I opened it. To our surprise, it was containing the envelope, untouched.
‘wow, seems you guys back in action,’ a voice in front of us startled me and Clive. I looked up and saw the familiar red eyes again. Those evil eyes. He was smirking at me as well as at Clive.
‘Satan,’ Clive whispered as he looked at him.
‘Please, call me Lucifer. And I love how you guys get back together again,’ he said as he was leaning on the chair as the pentagram did not affect him.
‘surprised? You should be because I was the father of all magic, dark and evil,’ he said as a wine glass appeared out of nowhere.
‘oh, how rude of me. Want some?’ He asked as two glasses of wine appeared in front of us. Its bubbly appearance made me questioned if it safe to drink it?
‘it’s fine, I took it from the bar. My treat,’ he said as he was smiling at us. I looked at Clive as he was holding his breath.
‘what do you want, my lord?’ Clive asked but he never dis the respect for the Lord of the Underworld.
‘i want what you guys promised 500 years ago. You see, the Hallow’s Eve is tomorrow and the next day will be Halloween. Now that you guys are walking among the living again in that host’s bodies of yours, I suggest you delivered what you promised to me soon or there will be consequences,’ he said as he was sipping on the wine.
‘We were about to know what you want, my lord, before you showed up in front of us,’ I said as I tried to reason with him. He looked at me before he looked at Clive. then, he smirked.
‘I see, so you don’t look at the envelope yet, I assume?’ He asked as I nodded at him.
‘very well, I leave that to you then. Don’t worry, I won’t tell anybody, particularly that person, you guys are here,’ he said before a portal showed up behind him as the time seems to stop.
‘what do you mean, my lord?’ I asked him. He smiled at me.
‘you’ll see,’ he said before he entered the portal and be gone with it. Then time started to move as usual and we were still in that enchanted shield of the pentagram.
‘shall we continue?’ Clive said as I was looking at the envelope. I nodded before I went to open it. My hands were shaking as I pulled out a card that has a name to it.
‘Cornelia Hayes,’ I said. It was the name that I was familiar with.
‘you mean Cornelia Bartok, the queen of this realm?’ Clive asked me. I grimaced.
‘remember, this was before the marriage 500 years ago, I guess we owed Satan his bride-to-be whose already married,’ I said as I looked at the tower that stood proudly among the castle of the royalty.
