Abigail the Witch’s POV
When I was younger, I was an outcast, a loner. I don’t have many friends like my cousin, Cornelia. She was the center of attention when she had the most advanced training in magic. We were the Fire witch, but my levels will never be the same as her.
it was one evening when the moonlight was shining so brightly that I was alone, on my way home. I was being attacked by some naughty werewolves when he showed up.
‘i suggest you run along, fellas. I don’t want to hurt you,’ his voice was velvety as I was on the ground. He was standing so proudly in front of me, trying to protect me.
‘what are you gonna do, little warlock?’ One of the werewolves asked him. He smirked before he turned to look at me. His ruby orbs were shining under that moonlight. He turned back toward the werewolves before icy shards were coming out of nowhere.
‘i will not shred you to pieces,’ he said before the werewolves ran away from us. He turned to look at me before the icy shards were disappeared, as it did not appear in the first place.
‘are you alright?’ He asked me before he offered his hand and helped me up. I nodded before I went up and our faces were closed to each other. I drew a sharp breath. I felt something stirred up in me.
‘My name’s Clive, what’s yours?’ He asked me as he was looking at me. I blushed.
‘my name is Abigail. Abigail Hayes,’ I blurted at him. I closed my eyes as my voice was not like it used to be. I cleared my throat before I smiled at him.
‘well, Abigail Hayes, nice to meet you. I’m Clive Thompson,’ he said as he put his hand to shake with mine.
‘nice to meet you,’ I said as I took his hand and it was the starting of my new beginning with him.
My time with him was more than magical. We were inseparable. I was enjoying every day of my life with him. Whenever I was in the academy, he would come and sit by me. I was alone whenever I was in school but he came once in a while when he was not busy with his student council and other kinds of stuff that he had going on.
‘so, I thought we should go out for a picnic if you’re free this weekend,’ he said as he was eating his food when we’re on our lunch break.
‘sure, I have nothing going on as well,’ I said as I smiled at him. Before I knew what was going on, Cornelia was sneaking up on me and she told my aunt about this.
‘i did not send you to the academy to date, you useless troll,’ she said as she was torturing me with her mind control. I was useless as I cannot combat with her.
‘Please, aunty, I don’t mean to do it. please, have mercy,’ I said as I was begging for her to stop. Cornelia was smirking at me before she whispered to my aunt. Her face lighted up before she had another idea on her mind.
‘well, if we made a deal for this weekend, I can let you go,’ she said as I just nodded because the pain was too unbearable.
‘i want Cornelia to take your place in that picnic and you will have to clean the house before you can go there,’ she said before their wicked smiles were showed at me. I knew it was too good to be true if I can get out of here right now.
‘yes, aunty,’ I said weakly as I was laying on the ground before they went out of my room and locked me in. I was sobbing quietly as I know I can never see Clive again.
‘Well, I’m off mother,’ Cornelia said as she went out of the door.
‘have a nice picnic, dear,’ my aunt said as she waved at her daughter.
‘clean this mess, and don’t ever think you can go out now missy,’ she said as she was putting all the locks on the house. I sighed. It looked like I have to get out in another way.
After I had done all my chores and my body was exhausted. I went to my room which my aunt also locked me in. I faked myself on the bed as I wanted her to think that I was too tired to go out.
‘sweet dream, my niece. My daughter will be the next daughter-in-law of founding family, I think it would be wonderful for you to have this home afterward,’ she said as she laughed wickedly as I was sleeping soundly.
‘Oops, better go before she wakes up,’ she said as she went out of the room. The door locked. I threw the cover off me before I pulled the candles, some herbs and chalk in my hand.
‘Oh, Lord of the Underworld, come to me as I summoned you. You will bid to me and I will give tributes to you,’ I chanted as I drew a pentagram that resembled Satan’s logo. I chanted 3 times before the candles were shaking and I can sense a dark aura was coming to me.
‘Well, well. Look what we have here,’ the Lord said as he appeared in front of me. I gasped as I saw he was not like how people would depict him.
‘what, you’re surprised I have no horn and all that shit they said in the book that you learned?’ He asked as he arched his eyebrow at me.
‘no,’ I said before I cleared my throat. ‘i want you to make me a powerful witch,’ I said with determination. He arched his eyebrow at me.
‘oh? And what is it for me?’ He asked me as he sat on his make up the throne. He conjured it up from the wind.
‘i…i…i—‘
‘i want you to surrender your soul to me,’ he said as I was trying to come up for my payment.
‘what?’ I asked him as I don’t understand what he meant.
‘i want you to be my servant in your death and you will do my bidding,’ he said as he smirked darkly at me. I think I made a mistake summoning the Lord of the Underworld.
‘All I wanted was to be more powerful, why should I do your bidding?’ I asked him as I felt I was being lied to. He was looking at me as if I was a little dwarf.
‘very well, I wanted you to find someone for me then,’ he said before he waved his hand and an envelope was on my bed.
‘i want her to be sent to me before Halloween next year if you failed, you know the consequences,’ he said before he was about to disappear.
‘what about my power?’ I asked him as I was looking at him.
‘ah, yes,’ he said before he waved his hand and I was struck with something, something powerful.
‘try not to overuse it,’ he said before he vanished from his seat and my room. I opened my eyes and I can see fire out of my hands. I smiled as I can overcome anyone now.
‘now, time for a payback,’ I said as I waved a fireball toward the window and it burst open.
‘It’s time for our duel, cousin,’ I said as I went out and shifted into a dragon to find them. okay, maybe shifting into a dragon was a new power but who cares?
As I was flying around, I saw Clive and Cornelia were strolling down the park. I went down with a grunt before I flew in front of him. I shifted back before I saw their shocked expressions.
‘Hello, cousin,’ I said as I stepped out of the mist that covered my transformation.
‘Cousin, I thought you were sick,’ she said as she was holding Clive’s hand. Clive was happy to see me but something was holding him back.
‘Abigail, your power—‘
‘yes, I have improved, do you like it?’ I asked him. I was smiling as I wanted him to be proud of me.
‘no, your power, it has dark forces to it, I don’t think you improved, Abigail,’ Clive said as he was stepping closer to me. Cornelia stopped him.
‘No, Clive. I think she made a deal with the Devil,’ she said before she surrounded me with her fire. I was panicking as I never in an enclosed space of fire before.
‘Clive,’ I called for him as I was trying to get out.
‘No, you demon. Stay inside there and I will end this,’ she said before she chanted me and I was burning with her fire.
‘see, Clive? She was not pure anymore. She had dark power in her,’ Cornelia said as she was throwing herself at Clive. I was shocked to see that she was smirking as Clive shook his head. I sobbed before I shifted again into a dragon and I went into the Enchanted Forest, the only place where no one was brave enough to explore, except for me.
I landed there before I shifted again and I was trying to clean my wounds from her fire. It was hurting me but I think it felt like a fire that I ever sensed before. I was by the river that has the power to heal the magical attack. I was brushing it over my wounds when a twig broke.
‘i thought I might find you here,’ Clive said as I turned to look at him. I was undressed as I was burning the whole body.
‘Why are you here?’ I asked him as I tried to cover my naked body. His ruby orbs were glistening with mischief before he came closer to me.
‘no, stay away. I was impure, remember?’ I said as I turned my back on him. He went to take off his clothes before he joined me in the river.
‘i never said it, and if I did, I’m sorry. I should not believe your cousin,’ he said as he caressed my cheeks. I looked at him as I was trying to find words for something, anything.
‘don’t say anything. I just wanted you to feel it,’ he said before he kissed me deeply on the mouth and we were lost in each other arms.
