Alice Hughes’ POV
We went outside of the restaurant as they were laughing and cheering up. This family was sure happy and I would love to be a part of them someday.
‘ah, my son and Alice, come, come, come sit beside me,’ Connor’s mom said as she was sitting on a bench in the backyard. Connor pulled me toward her. I was being all nervous and cracked up inside. I don’t know if she would like me.
‘my dear, come sit here,’ she ushered me to sit beside her on the right. I obliged as Connor urged me to go there.
‘How are you, ma’am?’ I asked politely as I was trying to be a good girl to her. Not that I was faking or anything but I think it would be best to show that I was a good girl.
‘ah, come on, Alice, my dear. We’re about to be family, of course, you need to call me mum,’ she said as she was looking at me, warmth in her eyes. It eased me a little bit and I was being comfortable around her.
‘lookup there, my dear. What do you see?’ She asked me as she pointed at the sky. I looked up and there was an Orion and some stars that I don’t recognize yet the shape of it.
‘well, I only know Orion over there,’ I showed it to her. She laughed at me. I was smiling at her before she took my hands into hers. It was warm that I have been looking for beside Connor’s.
‘and do you know about that story of Orion?’ She asked me. I nodded as I was smiling at her.
‘yes, my father use to tell me the story about constellation when I was little and I think some of them are true,’ I said as I looked at Mum. She was smiling as she patted my hands.
‘you’re lucky, Connor never had a father figure in his life so that’s probably why he such a sissy,’ mum joked with me. I laughed before I looked at Connor. He rolled his eyes at us before he smiled at his mother’s joke.
‘anyway, the reason why I called you is that I saw something in my reading today,’ she said sadly as she looked at me and Connor.
‘what about it?’ Connor asked. Mum looked at him before she sighed.
‘well, it’s hard to say but the balance of the world is at stake. There are some dark forces has been lurking around you guys. I don’t know if it is because she has been awakened from that memory or perhaps something bigger was happening here, more than we can handle,’ she said firmly as she stood up from her sitting.
‘i need to go back to the monster realm,’ mum said before she looked at us.
‘mum, you know the deal. The Lord of the Underworld would kill you if you ever step back there,’ he said as I was trying to understand about this. Mum just smiled at Connor before she looked at me and took my hands to stand up. She then took Connor’s hand and gripped it firmly.
‘you guys have each other. And he only said it’s you guys that cannot go to the underworld. me, however, was excluded from the deal,’ she said before she sighed as she looked at the ground.
‘i want you to take care of your sister, Connor and your bride. I know I can count on you,’ she said as she kissed Connor’s forehead. She then kissed my cheeks before she released our hands.
‘mum, please don’t do this. You don’t have to,’ Connor said as he was about to stop his mum. But some invisible wall was trapping him from going any further.
‘i have to my son, I have to redeem my mistake of the past,’ she said before she waved her hands and made a pentagram? I blinked as I saw in my memory.
‘mum, no!’ Connor shouted as a door was coming from the pentagram. His mother looked at us and she was smiling weakly.
‘remember, my dear, I love you all,’ was the last thing she said as she walked through the door and a blinding light was shining from it before I was unconscious. What the fuck just happened?
I tossed and turned as I was trying to get to the bottom of the story. Connor’s mum, his sister, Connor. Everything seems vague and I felt like I was the one that caused all this.
‘My love, my love, Alice, wake up,’ a voice was shaking me. I was in the darkness as I was opening my eyes and the first thing I saw was Connor’s ruby orbs.
‘Alice, you’re alright? It seems that you were having some kind of nightmare,’ Connor asked me as he handed me the water. I drank it until it’s empty, I don’t know that I was so thirsty.
‘it’s…it’s your mother. She was conjuring a door and when we tried to stop her, she did not listen. She was gone, Connor. She was gone,’ I said as I was trying to reason with him. He arched his eyebrow at me before he caressed my cheeks.
‘my love, you must be dreaming. My mum was at the house that we visited last night, remember?’ He asked me as I was looking into his eyes. I was trying to search for truth in it, and it was. I sighed. I pinched my temple as I must have been dreaming that it felt surreal.
‘yes, I must be dreaming. I’m sorry. I don’t mean scare you by telling that your mother was gone,’ I said as I looked at him.
‘shush, it’s okay now. You’re safe, you’re home,’ he said as he hugged me. I nuzzled his neck and took a whiff of his cologne.
‘i’m home,’ I said as I was smiling. Connor was my home now and I will do anything to save him.
Connor O’Sullivan’s POV.
After I calmed Alice down, I went to the living room of my house. It was lonely and silent as I went to flop myself onto one of the sofas. I sighed before I sensed someone from behind.
‘well, if it’s not Connor O’Sullivan,’ the familiar voice was lacing through my ears. I sighed as I turned to look at the figure that was leaning on the wall in the dark. The sun was about to set but I don’t think he would be here this early.
‘Hello, Logan. Fancy seeing you here. Don’t you have somewhere to be?’ I asked my cousin as he just chuckled at my question. The sun was getting down by the minute and when it was dark, Logan went to take a seat beside me.
‘well, I must say, I was being very busy with the business doing so great and I have a marriage to attend to,’ he said as he was looking at me. I looked at him warily before I understood what he was telling me. I laughed.
‘well, my wedding would come soon, but no later than next weekend I supposed,’ I said as I leaned on the sofa. My cousin arched his eyebrow at me.
oh, and that reminds me, the father sends his regard for you,’ he said as he took a wedding invitation and I looked at the names. It was my mother and my father’s old card.
‘what it got to do with this?’ I asked him as I waved an old wedding invitation. Logan stood up as he was holding his cuffs. He looked at me before he shrugged at me.
‘how do I know about that? If you want to know, ask my father then,’ he said as he drew a pentagram and went to walk through it.
‘you know I can’t go there,’ I said as I pointed at the monster realm. He turned to look at me.
‘of course, you can, your mother made a new deal and if she succeeded, you can come home again,’ he said as he was looking at me. I arched my eyebrow before laughing at him.
‘i think I will stick to the mortal realm for now. Beside my bride doesn’t exactly like it after our first visit,’ I said as I looked at Logan. He smirked at me.
‘maybe but you just show a part of it. Maybe next time, don’t bring danger and I think she would be delighted,’ he said as he was about to step into the door before my question stopped him.
‘how’s your new bride?’ I asked him. He turned to look at me over his shoulder before smiling at me.
‘well, she was still adjusting to it but I think it would be fun to show the other side of me to her,’ he replied as he was stepping closer and closer to the door.
‘just don’t hurt her, you know she’s my wife’s best friend right?’ I asked him before he turned to look at me.
‘don’t you know me already, cousin. I never hurt a woman, well the ones that piqued my interest anyway,’ he said before he disappeared. I looked at the invitation. Eva Thompson and Danial O’Sullivan. Hayes did that mean I was related to Clive. Clive Thompson?!
‘urgh, this is killing me,’ I said as I went to look at the bedroom. I smiled as I saw Alice was sleeping soundly. Perhaps I should join her and forget this shit. I think I would love to have a normal life now. I smiled at that thought before I put the invitation in a box., The House of Celtic before it disappeared from my sight as I went inside the room and closed the door forever.
