Feeling proud of myself I walked home. I could say that this was the best day ever. Suddenly the thought of Roy patting my head flashed and I blushed. I arrived home and to my surprise, both Mom and Roy's Father were there. The two were glaring at each other like they were rivals.
"How long do you think, we can keep this from Emma?" Mom asked.
"I don't care for how long but I will never allow Roy to..."
"All, you have been going about is Roy and Emma, They don't even get along!"
I did not understand what was going on. The two have never even once fought.
"Still, the moment Emma finds out all this stops!" Hector said.
"Maybe I want her to know, I am tired to this acting."
"Mom?" I finally spoke up.
"Emma?!" Mom turned to me surprised. "Emma, I can explain what is happening."
"What do you want to tell me?" I ask quite unsure about what she wants to explain.
"Emma, I am really sorry." Mom, embraced me tears dripping from her face. "I only did this because...I wanted the best for you..."
"Mom?... What...why are you crying?! I am sure whatever, you did was for my best." I said and she pulled away a sad smile on her face.
"Actually...Emma, I have meaning to tell you this." Mother began. Hector was standing saying nothing.
"Hector and I are not actually, married." She said and at that moment I felt the world shatter.
"What do you mean? I saw you two, you had a wedding!"
"It was all a lie."
"For six years..why Mom?"
"Because...He convinced me that you needed a father...and Roy needed a mother.."
"Did, I ever tell you that? I would have been happy if it was just us! I never once asked for things you couldn't get...Mom, I always made sure that I considered your feelings too! Why..." I remained silent. All this time I hid my feelings because, I knew we couldn't be together, I wanted my mother to be happy. I thought I was doing something right. All this time...it was all fake...
"Emma," Mom, called my name but I couldn't hear. My eyes were clouded, my mind had so many racing thoughts.
Just then the door opened and Roy walked in. I rushed to Roy. "Roy, did you know?" I asked. "Did you know that they were all pretending?" I asked shaking his shoulders desperate for the answer but he kept quiet. I knew the answer.
"Why didn't you tell me? For how long did you know?"
"Six years." He said looking away. My hands dropped from his shoulder and I turned away. Not even looking back, I ran out of the house. Tears dripping.
I didn't care, if it was a lie, they all lied to me. I was the only one living as if we were the perfect family...to them, we were strangers living together! I was angry. Why would they all agree to a life with no happiness? Why would they take my happiness all for a fake one?
