"And then I walked in here." I finished my heartfelt narration to Olivia as we warmed up for the competition. Olivia was a tall girl with brunette hair. She had brown eyes and she would wear glasses. Today, she had no glasses.
"Sounds like you had a fantastic morning." She replied.
"What is fantastic about almost dying!" I said and she laughed.
"I am just glad you are alive. You know you should be thankful to your brother."
"Well, I would have if he hadn't given me a reason not to!" I said as I winced at the previous remark 'brother'.
Soon the competitions began and It was now my turn. I was nervous but I didn't let it get to my head.
I stood on stage and took a deep breath. The music began playing. As the thrumming rhythm of the classical music whispered in my ears I began dancing. Arms flailing in above me, I whirled around. Foot forward, Back just like I had practiced. I felt great. I loved it. All kinds of emotions were flowing out and into my dancing. The crowd cheered and applauded.
Just then I looked into the crowd and spotted a familiar figure. Roy was seated at the back watching me. For a minute our eyes met and my heart palpitated. What is he doing here? Didn't he have somewhere to go?
I finished my dance with a long jump. Everyone began applauding as they stood up. Cheers were being heard. I looked to the back where Roy sat but he had disappeared. With the last bow, I went backstage.
"Wow! You did great!" Olivia complimented me as I walked in.
"Thanks I am sure you will do great too!" I encouraged her.
"Yeah, I hope so."She said before going to the stage.
I had a lot in my mind. With the other dancers, I sat and turned my attention to the screen and watched as Olivia danced with clear joy on her face. She danced with so much elegance that I wouldn't be surprised if she won.
The announcer announced that the competition for today was over. He announced that we would be sent the overall results once the competition was over.
With Olivia by my side, we walked home.
"Wow, everyone danced so well. I beginning to feel jealous." Olivia said.
"You also did great. You should have confidence in yourself."
"Speaking of which, On Monday we are starting school!" Olivia said and we both groaned.
"Why!!" I whined.
"Yes Why!!"
"Wouldn't life be better without school?" I said.
"I wouldn't count on it, sweetie," Olivia said and we sighed at the same time.
"Hey, do you mind if I stop somewhere?"
"Sure. I am going to head home and sleep because unlike some people I woke up early!" she said as she ran away.
I decided to head to the arcade. Maybe I would find Roy there. Just maybe.
Within minutes I was in the arcade.
Rows of machines with glowing screens filled the room. Everyone was focused on either a game or a conversation. No one seemed to notice my insignificant presence.446Please respect copyright.PENANAn0bvNx2pqG
One could hear either bleeps or bloops in the room.
I squinted my eyes in the low light, searching each row for Roy who I was not sure he was there in the first place.
"Ro--" As I am about to yell his name someone approached me.
"If you are going to shout I advise you this is the wrong place. Unless, of course, you want to be swallowed by cold stares."
"Oh. Sorry." I replied to the handsome blonde who seemed to my age or older not less than one.
"Anyway, who are you looking for?"
"My br--friend."
"Well, what is the name of this friend of yours?"
"Roy."
"Roy? He is your friend?"
"Yes. You know him?"
"I am not sure if they are the same person but he hasn't shown up today."
"Oh. Then I will leave." I said as I turned.
"Wait, why don't you play one game with me."
"Me? I don't know how!"
"Everyone has a first." He grabbed my arm and led me to one machine."I am Caleb."
"Emma."
"What a nice name..." He said as he inserted a coin into the machine in front of me. 'Return of king Zombie' is written on the screen.
"Ready to play? I'll show you." He began playing and I stood in awe. The way he handled the gun shooting the zombies like were mere pieces of meat.
He then allowed me to try. I failed many times but started to get the hang of it and soon I was enjoying the game.
We exchange contacts and I head home that evening feeling refreshed.
Surprisingly no one questioned my whereabouts. And Roy, well, he was in his room all along!
