Four years later.
Emma's father died when she was born. With her mother, Lisa they moved to Roy's neighborhood.
Roy on the other hand, his mother left him and since then he lived with his father.
The two families would always visit each other thus the developed friendship of Roy and Emma.
One night, their parents made a shocking announcement.
"We have something to tell you." Hector, Roy's father said as he reached out to grab Lisa's hand.
The unusual gesture caused the two ten-year-olds to stop eating and focus on their parents.
"We..." Lisa turned to Hector as if asking for permission to go on. "We have decided to get married!" She said and the two smiled at each other.
"What?!" Roy spoke up abruptly getting up. It was either their mouths were speaking wrongly or his ears were hearing things! There was no way they were getting married!
"Yes. You and Emma are going to be siblings!" Hector added excitedly.
"No! I won't accept it!" Roy said before rushing out of the house.
"Roy..." Lisa called out.
"Don't worry, give him some time, he'll come around." Hector rubbed her hands gently.
Feeling awkward Emma got up and said "Thank you for the food." She then went to her room.
Weeks later, with Roy ignoring Emma, Hector and Lisa got married and moved to a new house with children.
Roy continued to ignore his parents and Emma and would only say a few words if necessary.
It was until when they were going to high school when Roy announced that he wants to study away from home. After a heated argument with his father, Hector finally agreed to send him to a boarding school.
That broke Emma's heart. She couldn't help but cry silently.
