“Hey, Mrs. Smolov, I didn’t see you for a long time.” Katya greeted me with a smile, and I, in return, pulled her into my arms because I missed her terribly.
“Oh, I’m in chaos right now. I have a couple more exams until the end and believe me, I can’t wait for that to pass,” I complained, although I’m actually doing very well. I guess that’s normal when you study what you love.
“I’m trying, but I can’t imagine Vlad’s face when you finally graduate from the Faculty of Philology,” she began to laugh, which made me roll my eyes.
“I am not even trying to imagine it. I broke up all my connections with him a long time ago, and I am very glad about that.” To be honest, I would say that I have never been happier.
After the agreement which we made four years ago in front of the airport, everything started to get better. He did not allow me to return to my family after all, but he insisted that I move in with him permanently. At the time, it seemed like a difficult decision, but now I understand that it was the best decision I have ever made.
I was no longer under their roof, which automatically meant that I was no longer under their influence and that I could finally live my life the way I wanted. Some things from the past were too late to change, but at least for the first time, I was able to influence my own future.
The first change I made was the choice of university. With Fedya’s support, I used the September admission deadline and got on the Philological faculty, just as I had dreamed of my whole childhood. Only now, when I am at the end of the fourth year, do I realize that this change was necessary for my recovery.
But I am not the only one who has decided to change her life radically. Mom decided to do the same after I moved away. She finally stopped worrying about what anyone would say and filed for divorce. She has been doing her best ever since to improve our relationship. I can tell she’s not doing badly.
“And where is your hubby? I thought he couldn’t separate from his wife.” Katya asked about Fedya, bringing a smile to my face.
“He is at training. He has a very important game on Wednesday, so now he is completely committed to it.” I am especially proud of him.
He proved to everyone that you can make a great career without going abroad. I know best how much effort, work and sweat he invested in football, so I guess that gives me the right to say that the captain’s armband of the national team, as well as the one in Lokomotiv, is completely deserved.
“Where’s Dan?” I asked about my brother because I, just like her, thought the two of them weren’t separating. Just as Fedya decided to stay here because of me, Katya decided to go to Spain because of my brother. And I’m glad she did. They are an amazing couple.
“He and Matvey are visiting the granny. The auntie is next,” she smiled, letting me know that I needed to prepare for my two-year-old nephew’s hyperactivity.
I love that kid.
“Fedya will come by then. He left early this morning.”
“It’s been half a year since you got married, and you haven’t told me a single detail about that mysterious wedding.” I knew she would come back to that at some point.
“It’s not mysterious at all. We were on vacation, and Fedya thought that getting married there without a lot of noise and chaos would be a good idea. I liked St. Barth too much to refuse such an offer, so I simply agreed. Believe me, it couldn’t be better than that,” I really mean it.
“I believe. Fedya sent a couple of pictures to Denis, and I’m sure I haven’t seen anything better.” As always, she starts to exaggerate.
“Love, I’m here,” his voice interrupted us, coming from the hallway, so in just a few seconds, I found myself in his arms. We haven’t seen each other much lately because of all the responsibilities.
“Did you miss me so much?” He asked with a smile after placing a gentle kiss on my lips.
“You can’t believe how much.”
“Hello, you are not alone,” Katya shouted, killing the romance.
“Oh, we have guests. Where is my favorite child? ”He immediately asked about Matvey, with a huge smile on his face. I don’t know if it’s him or me who gets happier with their meeting. Every time I melt at the sight of him with the kids. It’s just perfect.
“He should come with his dad soon, but we all know what Denis is like. Mom’s son.” Katya commented, rolling her eyes, which made the two of us just laugh.
“When are you two finally gonna make some children?” I just wonder if she has any filter between her brain and her tongue. I shot her a look because I literally hate that question. It will happen when it happens.
“And who says we don’t work on that?” Fedya responded with a huge smile, and I blushed. How exactly did it happen that the topic of our conversation became our sex life?
“But no, seriously, Vika’s uni is the most important thing right now. Everything else should go its own way. We are in no hurry.” Fedya hugged me from behind and put a short kiss on my neck. I fall in love with him more and more every day. I love him more and more.
“All right, all right, here we are. Slow down a little.” We all turn towards the hallway, and we see Matvey, who is pulling Dan so that he can reach us as soon as possible.
“Auntie!” He screamed happily after seeing me, which made us all laugh.
“Auntie’s love,” I took him in my arms and kissed him loudly on the cheek, which made him laugh.
“And you didn’t miss me?” Fedya starts to tickle him, and he starts squirming in my arms.
“Hello, madman, the kid will fall because of you,” I say seriously, but I can’t hide my smile.
“I am crazy. But only about you,” he whispers in my ear, which makes the smile on my face even bigger if that’s even possible. Slowly my cheeks start to hurt from laughing so much.
“Uncle!” Matvey shouted again, and Fedya took him in his arms. And here I am melting again. There is no better view.
Maybe it’s time to expand the family.
