I went home. He was gone. They were gone. It was just me and my mom just like always.
"Emma!" Mom called out to me as she grabbed a towel. She handed me the towel, but the walked past her heading to my room.
I didn't care if I was soaked, I laid on the bed. I don't know how or when but I fell asleep.
The next day I woke up feeling tired. It was a school day and I wouldn't miss school. I got ready and headed downstairs.
"Emma..."
"I am off to school!" I said as I walked out the door. I wanted to avoid her for now.
I arrived at school and the first thing I noticed was that Roy was not in class.
"Emma! Yikes! You don't look so good!" Olivia walked up to me as I was about to sit.
"I am okay," I said flashing a smile at her. I wasn't going to ruin the day for her.
"Are you sure? Emma? Do you have a col--"
"Hey, I finished reading a new book." I cut her off.
"...Emma are you okay, what happened to you?"
"Do you know what? Today I really feel like taking books to the staffroom after all what are class monitor for!" I said energetically as I walked to the front and carried the heavy English exercise books. I smiled at her before walking out the door.
For some reason, I felt mushy and hot.
"Emma!" I heard a familiar voice.
Knowing better than to stand I increased my pace. I walked into the staffroom, placed the books on the teacher's desk, and exited the room as quickly as I could only to bump into him.
"Ow." I couldn't help but slightly moan.
"Emma..."
"Roy..." I found myself closing my eyes.
I woke up staring at a white ceiling. For some reason, everything was spinning and at the same time, my head felt heavy. The air in the room was filled with medicine. I knew for a fact that I was in the nurse's office but how did I get there? Did I collapse?...Roy. In my attempt to get up, I found myself falling back onto the bed.
"I wouldn't move If I were you...you are still unwell." The nurse walked in and gave me a reassuring smile.
"Um...How did I get here?" I asked her.
"Oh, you didn't see him? He might have left." She placed what seemed to be bottles of medicine on her desk before walking to me. "A boy in your class brought you here...he insisted that I should let him stay until you woke up. I could tell he really cared about you." She placed her hand on my forehead. "The fever is reducing but you should still get some rest." She got up and left leaving me alone with my thoughts.
