Oh my gosh. Everyone’s heard about the new Snow White movie right?
disney is just pushing it now. Look I didn’t really care about casting Ariel as a person as colour, but then I heard they didn’t make Ariel’s sister all the same race which I just like…doesn’t check out for me. I haven’t seen the movie though so I won’t comment to much.
my real issue is Snow White. They’ve cast Snow White as a Latino woman. She’s not white. Oh my god that sounds very iffy but lemme explain. snow, white, that’s her name. The entire story is SKIN as white as snow, hair as dark as raven and lips as red as blood. Her name is that for the exact reason. You can’t cast someone who doesn’t have very pale skin entirely because of that reason. Hair and lips aren’t to big of a deal. I can’t think of a good comparison Disney wise. It’s like…not casting a buff dude as Hercules or a non Asian person as Mulan. It just doesn’t work. OR EVEN MAKING MERIDA NOT SCOTTISH!
disney needs to understand that if you want diverse characters and princesses you can’t just recast them in movies. Put the effort in to create new princesses of other races. Make African American princesses or Latino. Or if they wanted to diversify the Snow White movie more they can litteraly create a diverse town or change up the races of the dwarfs.
