My dance studio does a production of The Nutcracker every year and last year I was Clara. This year I’m was looking forward to getting some harder roles, ones with more challenging steps and stuff.
Auditions were last Saturday, which were fun but stressful. The hardest part was waiting for the cast list to come out.
Sunday night, I was sitting in bed, and I’m like “I’ll just check the website one more time, just to be sure.” And it was OUT. I texted a few if my friends and then went and looked for my name.
The way it’s set up, there’s cast A, and cast B. The names for the main roles, Clara and the sugar plum fairy, are in cast B because they have two people for each role. That way they can understudy each other and both do two shows. So I’m looking in cast A and I’m not seeing my name, then I see it in waltz of the snow and I’m like ok cool.
I keep scrolling and get to the sugar plum fairy, AND MY NAME IS NEXT TO IT.
