CHARLOTTE’S P.O.V.
I have never been more embarrassed in my life, and that’s saying something. As Alec expressed, thoroughly as I might add, how he would practically love to get into my pants, I wanted nothing but to dig a hole in the floor, crawl into it, and die. I was too shocked and humiliated to do anything but just gape at him, but as he once again tried to correct himself by saying a second time how he wouldn’t mind getting into my pants, I had to stop him before practically running away in horror, hiding out in the girl’s bathroom until the bell rang.
Right now, I was in my 2nd period, which was math, just doodling in my notebook since I was the first one done with the assignment, therefore, I had to wait until everybody was done before moving on. I was transitioning from my notebook, to looking out at the football field from the window when a small pair of hands slammed down on my desk, making me look up with a jump, coming face to face with a very pissed Destiny.
“Destiny.” I greeted coldly, discreetly leaning back in my chair to put space between the seething monster. “What do I owe the pleasure-“
“Cut the crap, Jones.” She snarled, her face contorted in anger. “Didn’t we talk about you falling at my boyfriend’s feet, bitch?!” She demanded, making me sigh, turning back to my doodling.
“Um, no; you talked, I listened.” I stated calmly, and I could tell by the way she stamped her foot for the fourth time in the past 10 seconds, that me being calm was making her angrier.
“Well how about you listen some more,” She snapped, grabbing a handful of my hair and yanking me up to my feet, making my eyes widen at the confrontation. “Stay.Away.From.Ale-“ Before she could even finish, I forcefully grabbed her wrist, squeezing it for extra effect before yanking it to the right as hard as I could, making her cry out and clutch her elbow to her protruding chest.
“OW!” She cried, her face warped with pain as she tried to shake my firm hand off.
“Don’t ever touch me.” I ordered, my face emotionless as I watched her writhe in pain for a few more seconds before letting go, much to her relief.
“You freak!” She shouted, now rubbing her bruised wrist with tears of anger and embarrassment pooling in her eyes as she hurriedly backed away, as if I set her on fire.
“Yeah, whatever.” I muttered, sitting down, continuing my doodling in my notebook.876Please respect copyright.PENANAnWnc7kjhTv

Alec and I had been hanging out a lot, whether it be at our table in the coffee shop, the arcade down the street from my house, the park under what was now our tree, and anywhere else we decided to go to. Right now, we were relaxed at the park, his legs sprawled out as he propped himself up on the tree, and me laying across his lap, staring up at the sky with a lazy smile. We had been here for a little less than an hour, more than half of that time resting in comfortable silence.
We were watching little kids playing a friendly game of soccer when he spoke up while simultaneously running his hands through my hair.
“So there’s this dinner…” He finally said, making me groan in disapproval, which he chuckled at.
“Don’t be melodramatic, Charlie.” He said with a smile, and my cheeks turned pink at the nickname he became mighty fond of these few days. “It’s just a dinner for my Dad’s huge job, and he wants me to come with a date, so-“
“So you’re asking me?” I questioned bewilderedly, shocked he would even consider bringing me. Well he did say you were the prettiest girl in school. I thought blushingly.
“W-W-Well yeah, I thought we were pretty close…I mean, not like that kind of close, like dating, but like really good friends. Not that I wouldn’t date you-“
“Alec, please not this again.” I said, firmly placing my hand on his hard chest, making him clamp his mouth shut. “I was just wondering why you’re taking me, and not like…Destiny or someone.” I added the last part so it didn’t look like I was singling out Destiny, even though I most definitely was.
“Huh?” He blurted out, as if the thought of bringing your booty call to your Dad’s fancy dinner wasn’t exactly normal. “Oh god, no, I would never take Destiny to meet my parents.”
“And you’d take me?” I teased, peering up at him just in time to see his face turn a bright pink, making me giggle. “Do I have to dress up?” I asked with a reluctant sigh.
“Um, yes.” He said, nodding as if him saying it wasn’t enough, and I groaned loudly at the idea. “It’s not that bad!” He argued with a throaty chuckle, for which I gave him a glare for.
“I don’t own any dresses!”
“Um, don’t all girls at least one dress?” He asked with a raise of an eyebrow.
“Wow, that’s so stereotypical.” I teased. “But no; Take me as a prime example.”
“Well I have a sister…Maybe you guys could like…Go to the mall together or something. I don’t know, wherever giggling teens go.”
“Um, no offense, but isn’t your sister like…14?” I asked with a wince, remembering how he was telling me all about his family just yesterday, and he had mentioned his overachieving sister.
“Hey, my sister actually has great taste!” He argued playfully, earning a giggle from me.
“Okay, okay, you might be right.” I agreed. “Take me to this sister.” I sighed dramatically, placing the back of my hand on my forehead and resting my other one on my chest, making him burst into laughter.
“You’re crazy.” He laughed, bending over to help me up, which I reluctantly let him.876Please respect copyright.PENANATqdzoXVbVH

“Wow.” I expressed. “I can’t believe you’ve never had ice cream. Are you even human?”
“Um, yes, I’ll have you know I’m very human, thank you very much.” Alec laughed across from me as we walked lazily down the sidewalk, side by side. “I just haven’t tried ice cream.”
“Ever.” I declared, and he nodded, a huge smile on his face. “Wow, I will make you eat ice cream if it’s the last thing I do.”
“It’s not like I’m scared of it, I just…Never really got the time.” He offered, but I snorted at that. We were walking to his house, which surprisingly wasn’t that far from the park we were at, and I noticed how we were so close, our shoulders kept brushing together, but I discarded the thought once my cheeks were aflame.
“Okay.” I drawled sarcastically, dropping the conversation for now. “So, when is this fancy dinner?” I asked, saying the word ‘fancy’ in a horrible British accent that he snorted at.
“This Saturday.” He stated proudly, pushing his hands into his pockets.
“Alec, today is Thursday. Talk about late notice!” I scoffed, playfully whacking him on his chest.
“Hey! I just made it late notice so you couldn’t exactly drop out.” He said sheepishly, rubbing the nape of his neck.
“Wow, I just love your faith in me.” I said sarcastically, peering up at him to see he was looking straight ahead with a small and natural smile. He really was too handsome for his own good.
“Me too.” He said seriously, looking down at me with so much emotions, that I was too light-headed to determine what they were. Somehow, we stopped walking, now just me staring up at him and him staring down at me, and it was just too many emotions we were trying to send to each other.
“Charlotte.” He breathed, reaching up and tucking a strand of hair behind my ear, moving in closer until we were chest against chest, and I could feel his warm breath fanning my face. I closed my eyes, inhaling, taking in this surreal moment as he ran his hands through my hair and I couldn’t do anything but place my hands on his chest just in case my knees gave out because of our proximately.
Placing his finger under my chin, he brought my head up so I could look him in the eye, and I couldn’t do anything but just get lost in the beautiful orbs. Alec cocked his head slightly before beginning to lean in slowly, and I couldn’t do anything but stand there, my heart racing so fast it hurt, overthinking everything. Where we really about to kiss? Did I want him to kiss me? Just as I felt his breath on my lips, we were interrupted.
“Alec? Wow, Alec!” A chirpy voice called as if the person didn’t just see us standing in the middle of the sidewalk, about to frickin’ kiss. We pulled away as if we were on fire, Alec turning to see who called him, and me with an equally red face, looking around as if the passing butterfly was more interesting than whatever the hell was going on.
“Wow, it’s been so long! How are you?” The feminine voice questioned, and when I peeked, I saw Alec standing there, stunned, before he quickly embraced the girl with a sigh.
“Victoria, wow, look at you! I-I’m good, how are you?” He asked, holding her back at arm’s length to get a good look at her. I couldn’t help but to look away, harshly chewing on my bottom lip as I thought about that almost kiss. We were entering dangerous territory, Alec and I, and I had to back out of whatever this was. I couldn’t let myself get close to him, not after Brandon.
With that newfound determination, I shoved my hands in my pea coat before turning, heading the opposite way Alec and I were going.
“C-Charlie!” Alec’s voice stopped me, much to my irritation. Turning on my heel, I looked at him and the beaming girl, who replicated a fucking Victoria’s Secret model. “Come on! I want you to meet someone.”
Reluctantly, I stomped to where they were standing, my arms crossed as I forced a smile.
“Charlie, this is Victoria, Victoria, this is Charlie.” Alec said, placing his hand on my lower back, making me internally shiver.
“Uh, it’s Charlotte.” I corrected, looking coldly at her. “You can call me Charlotte.” Either this girl was fucking dumb and she didn’t catch my hostility, or it didn’t affect her; either way, she just smiled my way before turning back to Alec with a bigger smile, aimlessly twirling a strand of her dark black hair on a manicured finger, obnoxiously chewing on her gum.
“Wow, Alec, it’s been so long since we’ve seen each other. I see you’ve gotten much more attractive, Charlie’s a lucky gal, now isn’t she?” Victoria hinted at, never leaving his gaze. Scoffing at that not so subtle way of seeing if Alec was single or not, I stood in front of him so Victoria had to look at me, making her frown slightly.
“Once again, you call me Charlotte, not Charlie. And no, Alec and I aren’t dating, so he’s up for grabs if you want him.” I snapped, ignoring the pang of hurt I felt at the thought of them actually dating.
“Oh my mistake.” She giggled way too hard to be attractive before sticking a bit of her pinky in her mouth, seductively looking at Alec. “I just assumed you guys were a thing since I thought I saw you guys almost kissing.” She giggled, an innocent smile on her face as she tried to maneuver around me to get closer to Alec.
“Well if you thought we were about to kiss, then why did you interrupt?”
“Uh, yeah, I think we should go.” Alec butted in, grabbing my hand and gently pulling away. “We have somewhere to be, so I’ll catch you around? How long are you in town for?”
“Permanently.” She stated with a wink and a smirk, all directed at him, making me clench my jaw. “And yeah, I would love to go somewhere and…Catch up.” She said, taking her time to drop her gaze to his crotch before taking extra-long returning back to his eyes.
“Er, yeah, okay.” He muttered before we were off, chills and shivers running up my hand that he was still clutching.
“Yeah, count me out of that whole catching up thing, I would hate to watch porn live.” I scoffed, yanking my hand out of his grasp. “Who is she?”
“Just a….Old friend.” He stated simply, his voice now distant. “She moved away a while ago without a goodbye, so you could kind of imagine my surprise when I saw her.”
“Yeah, I think anybody would be surprised to see sex on legs.” I snorted, running a hand through my hair.
“Why so hostile?” He asked, peering down at me. I knew he was trying to come off as casual, but he failed, horribly.
“Um, maybe because we were literally about to kiss seconds before you were all over the next girl you saw, letting her bluntly tell you that she wants to fuck you whenever you get the chance, you fucking oblivious idiot!” I snapped, throwing my hands up in exasperation.
“W-Wait, what? She never said that!” He argued, his eyes wide with confusion at the idea. I scoffed, shaking my head and rolling my eyes.
“Did you guys used to date?” I suggested, and noticed how he took a couple of seconds to answer.
“Uh…Yeah, we did.” He answered.
All the answers I needed.
The rest of the walk was bathed in awkward silence, and I was more than relieved when he announced we were here when we were standing in front of a huge house with a complimentary garden. The house was at least 2 stories high, with what looked like a wrap-around porch that I always wanted. I let Alec lead me to the door which we slipped in after he unlocked it, and then we were standing in the living room, or rather foyer it looked like. As he let it be known that he was home, I took that time to look adoringly at the family pictures that hung on the walls that made the house less intimidating.
.Too anxious to sit in the cream soft leather sofa I remained in the centre like a grubby garden ornament. With my eyes only I toured the spacious room. On my left was a period fireplace with a tall pottery vase standing either side, displaying bouquets of sweet smelling flowers. Above the fireplace a huge guiled mirror showed my reflection. Above my head a chandelier hung with the afternoon sun glinting off the cut glass. The room had a high ceiling and a large picture window, giving me a view of the front lawn. The wall was cream-coloured, and the floor was covered with a soft carpet. The furniture looked antique, but in good shape, making me smile.
“I’m loving this house.” I complimented before my attention was taken from the designer rug, to the bright white staircase, where a young blonde girl was skipping down it. Her blonde hair was currently tied in a ponytail, bringing attention to her warm brown eyes that danced around happily before landing on me, resulting in her smiling hugely.
“Hi!” She greeted, literally skipping across the carpet to reach me before throwing her arms around me, surprising me to the max. “My name’s Amy, and you must be Charlotte! Wow, when Alec said you were so pretty, I thought he was just exaggerating, but you are drop dead gorgeous.” She bluntly said, looking at my outfit when an approving smile.
“Wow, thanks.” I said, eying Alec with a smirk and a cocked eyebrow, watching in amusement as he squirmed, avoiding my eyes while rubbing the nape of his neck.
“Jesus, Amy-“
“I can tell we’re going to be great friends!” Amy squealed, cutting off her uncomfortable brother, already pulling me up the stairs, and I couldn’t do anything but let myself get dragged by someone 3 years younger than me.
Gee.
We burst into a room that was littered with blue. Instead of the cliché’ pink for the teen’s bedroom, from the carpet, to the walls, to the furniture, it was blue. The ceiling was made to look like an actual sky, with realistic looking clouds scattered across the surface. Her bedding was dark blue, and the walls were light blue. The only thing that wasn’t blue, was the carpet, which was a bright white.
“Nice.” I smiled, taking a seat on her plush bed, loving how it folded with my size.
“Thanks. Now, I have a couple dresses that you can use, considering you and I aren’t that different.” She said, eying my length with one quick look before nodding, turning back to her walk in closet.
“Wait, how did you know Alec invited me? And how did you know I was going to say yeah?” I questioned with curiosity, remembering how her and Alec didn’t even talk when we arrived. She waved at me dismissively with a small smile when she came out with a couple of dresses in hand.
“Alec and I talk.” She said simply, laying the dresses out on her bed. “And as for your response, I knew you said yes because you’re here. Speaking of which, what took you guys so long?” She frowned slightly, standing me up so she could get a good look at my front, before turning me around, and then she nodded, shoving me, gently but firmly, back down onto the bed.
“Er…We ran into a...Old friend of his.” I cringed at how loosely I was using the word ‘friend’, looking at Amy’s window seat, another thing this house had that I had always wanted.
“Really?” She said with a cocked eyebrow. “Elaborate. What did she look like?” She once again stood me up, now holding a dress up to me I guess to see how long it would be on me before nodding. “Try this on.” She added.
“Well she looked like a freakin’ model to say the least.” I scoffed, reaching to the hem of my shirt before pulling it off, leaving me in my all black bra, and then I was working on my jeans. “Uh, long black hair, creepy brown eyes, and a mole-“
“Holy shitballs!” Amy screeched, making me stop mid-way pulling off my jeans as I nearly fell over in surprise at her huge reaction. “Are you talking about Victoria?!”
“Uh yeah…” I said, finishing taking off my jeans before putting my clothes on the bed, not at all fazed that I was in my bra and underwear in front of this stranger. I guess Amy was just someone that was easily likeable.
Unlike Victoria.
Taking the dress from Amy’s hand since she seemed to be frozen in place, her eyes wide with surprise and her jaw dropped, I carefully bunched it up.
“Do you know her or something?” I asked, my curiosity perked to the max.
“Know her?! She was my brother’s first everything.” She snapped, and if I had a cup of water, I would’ve spit out the liquid in surprise.
“What?!” I snapped, as if I didn’t just hear what she said. “What do you mean first everything?”
“First girlfriend, they were going out from the 7th grade to the 10th before she disappeared without a type of goodbye, first first, if you know what I mean, first kiss, first love, first everything. Even when she left in the 10th grade, Alec was still horribly in love with her.”
“Well is he still in love with her? Why did she leave?” I asked, suddenly incredibly jealous and self-conscious, and still very much in my underwear.
“Well I’m sure he’s still in love with her, she was his first.” Amy scoffed, running a hand through her hair which I didn’t notice was freed from its ponytail. “And nobody really knew why she left, but there are definitely rumours. Some said she got pregnant by a one night stand at the party, the last time anyone from here had seen here, others said she went to Russia for drug rehab, they just go on and on. Nobody really knows.”
“Do you think they’re going to get back together?”
“Well technically they never really broke up.” Amy sighed, and I could tell she didn’t exactly fancy Victoria. “So yeah, maybe, unless he’s moved on…”
“Yeah, I’m pretty sure him and Destiny weren’t actually like…A thing-“
“Not her, idiot.” She scolded. “I’m talking about you.”
“M-Me?” I scrawled, throwing my hand to my chest very dramatically, my eyes widened. “W-What makes you think he would move on because of me? I wasn’t his first anything-Not his first kiss, his first-“
“Yeah, but you’re his first date to these dinners.” She said with a smirk, and when she saw my confused face, she clarified. “Dad’s been having these dinners for as long as I can remember, even before Victoria left, but he never brought anybody with him. He was always a single pringle.” She said.
Okay. I thought. That was a good point, good enough to get me to stop talking immediately.
“Amy, where’s my guitar- Holy shit.” Alec stopped in the doorway, looking at me with widened eyes, making me realize that I was still very much in my underwear.
Thank god I put on my good underwear today.
“Oh…Er, sorry…I’m going to go.” He muttered, looking between a smirking Amy who had her hands on her hips, and a blushing me.
“Yeah, that would be best.” Amy laughed, watching as Alec awkwardly backed away, closing the door behind him, making us burst out with laughter. 876Please respect copyright.PENANAnutZzQ9CBj

Today was the day, and I was as nervous as a fat boy in an all-you-can-eat buffet.
“I-I can’t go out there.” I insisted, clutching my stomach that kept churning nervously. “I look hideous.” Okay, that was a complete and utter lie. As I stood in front of Amy’s full-body mirror, I couldn’t believe it was me standing here. Cliché’ but true. I was squeezed in a dark red rhinestone Chiffon Cocktail Dress that ended at my knee and had a beautiful sweetheart neckline that Amy lended me, sparkling platform, peep toe pumps that had jewels covering every inch of the beautiful heels that I had gotten for my 16th birthday, and this was my first time actually wearing them.
Amy did my makeup, going for a darker look to compliment my outfit, using eye shadow, eye liner, mascara, and then foundation. It took her about 10 minutes to do the cat eye perfectly, but it was definitely worth it. And then Amy also did my hair, which was tucked nicely into a beautiful ballerina bun.
Amy sure knew what the hell she was doing, unlike me.
“You look fine, darling.” Amy drawled in an exaggerated British accent, handing me my clutch and my light brown wool jacket, waiting until I slipped the jacket on before standing in front of me in an equally fancy outfit, standing in a shrivelled black dress that went a couple inches from her knee, nude pumps, and her makeup done to perfection, going for the more natural look instead of mines. Her hair fell down her shoulders in natural waves before she added a black bow headband.876Please respect copyright.PENANADIhgZescB6
We had been up here for hours getting ready, so while we were upstairs, people were filing in downstairs, all of Alec and Amy’s dad’s co-workers, all chattering and having a grand time.
“I know.” I admitted. “I’m just nervous.”
“Why are you nervous? You have nothing to worry about; you look beautiful.” She said honestly, and I couldn’t help but hug her, even if I had only known her for a couple days.
“You’re right.” I said with a reassuring nod. “Let’s go.” And with that, we linked arms and headed out her room, towards the staircase.876Please respect copyright.PENANAavhOeKmndV
