Just when the limits of telepathy were not fascinating enough, many Scions (specifically Altiri with a purged experiment pair) developed a kind of workaround to deal with a telepathic connection suffering from the prospect of a weak signal. There were many reasons for wanting to amplify an existing telepathic connection. Though this is not at all needed for telepathy occurring between twoAltiri, the telepathy between an Altiri and a human could always use the boost of power wherever available. It didn’t take long to discover telepathic amplification by accident. The primary node has the ability when learned to interact with the proportion of the load the connection requires from both nodes, shifting the balance so that the primary node absorbs most of the load while the weaker node absorbs less of that constant energy requirement. As a result, the primary node will be put into a position where they will tire out faster and lose psionic energy at an alarming rate just by keeping the connection alive; but as a reward for temporarily changing this parameter during a connection, the detail level of shared sensory information grows. Though regardless of this growth (so long as the base power is strong), the ultimate effect of this change forcibly overwrites the weaker node’s basic senses with that of the stronger node. This process already happens naturally in a connection, but only to the limit of previously stated limits and ratios for each connection grade strength. Remember before how it is extremely difficult for a human node to directly see through the eyes and clearly hear through the ears of their Altiri node - as if they were walking in their body regardless of connection strength? Telepathic Amplification is the ability which removes this difficulty. The human node’s entire reality becomes overlapped with the other’s senses more strongly, allowing for a new kind of telepathic experience. The human node sees clearly through the eyes of their partner, with no apparent detail loss other than occasional light levels, and for a sustained time of several hours, or more if the stronger Scion can provide that much time. One mentioned benefit of this is to allow the human node to indirectly meet other people within the AVPSI through the senses of their Altiri node, without the need to use 3-way telepathy. However, there is only so long a time that the primary node can try to burden their Cora with such a heavy load. On average, telepathic connections require proportionally 40% psionic load from the Human Scion, and 60% psionic load from the Altiri Scion. Under the extreme circumstances of forced telepathic amplification, the Altiri Scion is put under 90% psionic load or higher, and the Human node is put under 10% psionic load or lower. Since most of the limitations of telepathy are recognized between these two bodies because the human node is generally the weaker one, this shift in parameters explains why the connection strength seemingly increases when more of its control is given to a Scion who can more quickly and effectively channel psionic energy. Due to the effects of psionic strain, the Altiri inheriting the higher load will last for far less of a time when this power is engaged, as it is dangerous to perform the action for too long. Even under circumstances of having a vigorous connection prior to use (which is required as a preliminary constraint in the first place for this ability to trigger at will), the rate of energy loss and dehydration remains higher than what that Scion is used to. Therefore, when using telepathic amplification, they can only sustain such a phenomena for a limited period of time. The variance of how long this can last is high since there are many factors involved. Generally, this ability can only be used realistically for a few hours. Once this process is over, assuming that the connection has been boosted for a significant amount of time, the primary node will likely feel drained of all their energy and need time to recover before doing anything else. The effect and intensity of this psionic drain totally depends on how far they push themself.
