The Astral Plane is the first key to all of this research. Current human science focuses mostly on the observable universe more than the unobservable universe. This is because searching for the invisible can be a very frustrating or often impossible task for any aspiring scientist. The Scions (those with psionic powers) are the other key to this research. Without them, there would be no proof or real idea of what an Astral Plane really is; the very name would not exist. The Astral Plane was more of a challenge for proof for both Humans and the AVPSI (initially). While Herios never discovered or founded the astral plane, she presented the most amount of detailed ideas and theoretical data regarding the Astral Plane than anyone else known to the AVPSI, (including giving the plane its name) which sparked the initial interest in both subjects of categories. As a Scion herself, Herios was obsessed and fixated on the astral world, as if she could somehow see the details despite others not being able to. But the ultimate point of this page is to highlight that fact that the world exists in more layers than what can be seen with our own detectable senses. The Astral Plane is a world partially separated from this one, a plane above this physical plane, and it should be safe to assume that there are even higher planes than the Astral. While the AVPSI has never successfully collected any data beyond the realms of the astral plane, many inside and outside of the AVPSI are convinced that the Astral Plane is only a temporary stop for the soul before reaching a place even more amazing, though totally unknown, and - to date, left up to the imagination. After all, it was discovered that there are two worlds instead of one, so why not more? What is certain - is that the interaction level between these planes, namely the astral and the physical one is very low at best. Most humans have no sense or detection for the astral plane. Even active Scions knew so little about the matter, at least until the AVPSI conducted research following the lead of Herios. Those outside of the AVPSI other than the purged experiments know nothing about this research, and thus, can only speculate about what the Astral Plane might be like from pop culture (currently portrayed by Spirituality which does not have most details correct). The difference in interaction level however is not zero. If it were zero, there would be no psionic energy, and no connection between the two zones. As stated before, perhaps whatever interaction does exists between two planes only exists between the immediate planes when considering the idea of multiple planes of existence. For example, the existence of the Astral Plane and the unknown power of psionic biolution together prove beyond a shadow of a doubt for the AVPSI that souls are a real part of the world. Each person has a soul and that the soul possesses the physical body from the realm of the astral plane. While not much more info on that subject is available, this realization alone is a fascinating one. In any case, the AVPSI has not concluded anything religious in nature about the Astral Plane or any of its other findings. Most in the AVPSI believe that if there is a last stop for where people end up after death, the Astral Plane is most certainly not the final destination.
