Lizzy and the 2 Ciels (chapter 142 & 117)
I already made a post about Lizzy’s shoes when the chapter came out, so now I’m just going to gush and let the rest of my thoughts out because this is too much.
I knew Lizzy was in the manor all along and that she’d be saved for last!! I wonder how much she heard? And how much of R!Ciel/O! Ciel’s story was even said aloud, anyway? The flashback went on for so long that now everything is blurry for me lol
In either case, now is when things will get truly interesting because oh boy can I see R!Ciel using Lizzy in all the ways he sees fit to further break and isolate O!Ciel.
I’m eager to see R!Ciel and Lizzy interact because I wonder if he’s going to bother to put off the façade of a loving fiancee, or if he’s not even going to bother to hide his manipulations from her. I’m also wondering if he still harbors any sort of affection for her, or if his status as a bizarre doll prevents it and now all his feelings are reserved towards his little brother.
My girl is finally in the same room as the two of them. I’m so excited I can barely wait for next month.
Her face though.
Oh, God. Her face. Lizzy is so damn hurt. She’s spent the entire arc alone and miserable and who knows all the stuff R!Ciel and the others fed her.
But it’s extremely telling that despite all that, despite what she knows and doesn’t know - Lizzy still looks heartbroken to not be on O!Ciel’s side.
She doesn’t even look angry. Just, heartbroken.
I saw lots of people being surprised about Lizzy taking R!Ciel’s side - but that’s been her conflict throughout the entire arc. When she decided to go back to the Blue Sect, it was obvious which side she was temporarily on. Even more so when she fought against Sebastian and told him that she didn’t know what the right thing to do was, but that “I, at least, cannot go over to that side.”
And whose side would that be of not O!Ciel’s? She even left her Ciel plushie behind.
Speaking about that chapter. Look at this beauty.
Sebastian wonders what’s gotten into her since she has always wished for “Young Master’s” happiness. It’s obvious which Ciel would come to Elizabeth’s mind since this is Sebastian she’s talking to.
And what does Yana show us? Lizzy’s low heeled shoes. This is the ONLY time in the entire chapter that Elizabeth’s feet get any sort of focus. And OF COURSE, it happens right as Sebastian brings up that throughout the entire manga, all Lizzy has wanted is O!Ciel’s happiness!
And you know what made it even better?
That his question broke Lizzy!! She’s shaking!! Completely heart-broken as she claims that she can’t go over to O!Ciel’s side!!
Because Sebastian just hit her where it hurts. In her feelings for O!Ciel, which shouldn’t be there yet are.
Look at the face Elizabeth had when we saw her by R!Ciel’s side:
Miserable. She’s been miserable all this time, and Paula confirms it:
The person the most hurt by Lizzy’s choice is none other than Lizzy herself. Because, technically, Lizzy is doing what she ought to do. She’s taking the side of her actual fiancée, the boy who was her best friend when they were children.
And now he comes after all these years and tells her that he’s gone through hell and back. Alone all this time. And now he’s finally home.
And Elizabeth, who’s a protector by nature - for whom R!Ciel once was the entire world. Can you imagine how unbelievably guilty she must have felt? To know that all this time, she was letting her best friend down and falling in love with his brother?
Seriously. I can’t even begin to imagine how difficult this must all be for her, and then we have to add the confusion, the betrayal (because how can she know that everything O!Ciel did for her was actually out of genuine affection when he’s been lying to her all along about something as innate as his identity?), and the possible lies and manipulation Bravat and the others must have fed her. It just gets to be too much to bear, honestly.
Is this going to hurt O!Ciel, too, though? You bet it will, and I think that’s probably exactly what R!Ciel wants.
I’m not sure if R!Ciel knows just how important Lizzy and O!Ciel are to each other now, and that Lizzy is quite possibly the most important piece if he truly were to want to break O!Ciel - but the fact that the Blue Sect made sure to keep Lizzy on their side is pretty incriminating on that front.
Oh, and Sebastian!!
Look at his expression when Elizabeth shows up!! Back when Sebastian fought against her, he wondered what had gotten into her. He then even haughtily teased O!Ciel about not being able to “shackle” Lizzy’s heart, but now?
Now that he gets just why Elizabeth behaved the way she did? His expression has a regretful air because he knows things just got even more complicated for O!Ciel. Because this - Lizzy turning against him, is one of the lowest blows he can receive right now, and he’s already gotten enough on his plate.
Also, got to love how when we see Lizzy pointing and O!Ciel’s shock, it’s like everyone surrounding him just disappeared. We should at least be able to see their shoes going by the angle, but nope. Zero. Nada.
Nothing but O!Ciel and the one whose disappointment is going to hit him the hardest.
edit; almost forgot!! I’m also wondering if there’s a reason why Lizzy showed up when she did aside from, well, Yana being Yana. Like, was that an instruction given by R!Ciel? Ahhh seriously, can it be next week already?
