Hi!! Could you please give us your two cents about how this 2CT is gonna go down with regards to Lizzy? Bc before when I thought there was only one Ciel I was 100% on board the ship. Now that it's confirmed there are two... I just, I mean, I know Lizzy is going to be with O!Ciel, but like R!Ciel is just so freaking alluring, like??? She's always been in love with the R!, but she never knew she was giving that love to O! And I just I don't know what to think anymore!!
Hi, anon! Thank you so much for your question, I have so much to say I don’t even know where to begin haha :D
This is going to get pretty long, but basically, I feel that we may see:
- o!Ciel having to acknowledge once and for all that he treasures Lizzy, and that everything he’s done for her has been because of his own feelings and not because of playing the part of the dutiful fiancé.

- Lizzy making a conscious, informed choice and choosing to remain by o!Ciel’s side. Thus showing o! Ciel that if he just trusts, if he just gives people a chance—people can love him for whom he is, rather than just compare him to his brother and find him pale in comparison.

- R!Ciel will just be a catalyst and an agent during all of this because he’s there to force their hands and make them face each other and their pasts. What remains to be seen is if he’ll actually care for Lizzy the way he used to in the past, or if she’ll just be a chess-piece for him. Whatever it is he does, he is surely going to be pretty manipulative and sly lol
Since this arc has already brought to the table that o!Ciel is frightened of being happy, I think this is when he’ll have to take out his claws, be selfish—in an entirely different way—put his foot down, and say: no. These people care about me, and I want them in my life even if I’m going to make them suffer. You can’t have them.
At the same time, it should also be the arc where o! Ciel comes to appreciate himself more. Not his identity as head of the Phantomhive house or as a stand-in for his stronger, more capable brother. But as whom he actually is, because he has people who love him dearly and care for him and will be ready to remind him of how much he’s worth in their eyes and why.
I think that’s going to be one of the keys from here on out, because otherwise, Yana wouldn’t have brought it up in the first place. However, that’s all assuming Yana will give us a break and let o! Ciel reaches a nice development threshold before pulling the rug underneath his feet again for whatever it is she has planned next lol It all depends on how dark she wants the manga to be and on how close (or far) we’re to the end.
Now for all the otp ramblings! lol
I have made a couple of posts about Lizzy and 2CT HERE, HERE, HERE, and HERE and those are probably more organized than this one is going to be. But since I can’t seem to shut up about this, here we go!
Rest assured that I completely understand why you’re torn, and I think that’s awesome because you’re actually already relating to Lizzy without realizing it! :’D If you feel confused, imagine how Lizzy must have felt when she realized what was truly happening.
I think that what helps in my case is that I’ve been separating r!Ciel from o!Ciel in regards to Lizzy for a long time now, and that I don’t really feel there is a true r!Ciel/Lizzy ship right now, so to speak.
There was in the past and there could have been in the future if things had gone differently, but they didn’t. The R!Ciel we see now isn’t the same Ciel Lizzy knew and loved so dearly; if he truly is a soulless Bizarre Doll, then he may just be acting out of memories. Out of what used to be’s and what should’ve been; I don’t really know if he’s capable of harboring actual, genuine affection for Lizzy or if he’s just going to view her as a chess piece. Someone he cared for once, but that’s ultimately expendable. I’m hoping for the former but expecting the latter, and if it is the latter then that’s just going to separate o!Ciel from him even more in a rather unfortunate fashion lol
Meanwhile, Lizzy is not the same little girl, either; and her feelings aren’t the same. While little Lizzy looked forward to marrying her cute fiancé and spent her days playing with him, Lizzy has grown into a fighter. She’s discarded her fears and truly comes into her own, and she’s done this for o!Ciel. Because he inspires her. Because she wants to protect him. Because he accepted her.
And the thing is that what Lizzy is trying to protect isn’t the memory of a happy Ciel. I mean, sure, Lizzy does want to see ours! Ciel smile like before. But Lizzy has taken in and accepted every single side of o!Ciel that he has shown (or hidden) from her.
Lizzy embraced her swords to protect the broken kid who came back to her with a pitch-black butler. Lizzy fights for the kid who tries hard to be seen as an adult. Lizzy worries for the boy who carries the burden of the world upon his shoulders and doesn’t let himself trust other people. Lizzy covets every single smile this serious boy gives her and every single moment they spend together when he lets himself relax, if only for a little while.
Lizzy gave her heart to that boy, offered it selflessly and without qualms—and that boy just so happens to be o!Ciel.
I’m sure some may find it circumstantial, but the truth is that Lizzy has grown from a child to a young lady with o!Ciel by her side. Not r!Ciel, but o!Ciel. It’s her feelings for O! Ciel which has developed into romantic love, and it’s those feelings that have matured to the point Yana herself has confirmed that Lizzy not only is in love with O! Ciel but that he’s the person Lizzy loves most in the entire world.
And while it may sound gruesome or gloomy, the truth is that all the hardships Lizzy and O! Ciel has gone through have only served to strengthen Lizzy’s feelings and dedication to him.
The thing is, though, that I’m not sure if Lizzy has accepted that quite yet or if she’s telling herself that sticking to R! Ciel is for the best.
Obviously, she is heartbroken about this. But I believe Lizzy may even feel that accepting that she wants to be by o!Ciel’s side would be a betrayal of R! Ciel, who needs her and to whom she’s actually engaged. So going to O! Ciel wouldn’t only be a betrayal of her duty as the fiancée of the Phantomhive heir, but also a betrayal to the boy she loved so dearly when she was a child.
And here’s when it gets interesting because of r! Ciel is essentially their past. That’s what he is. He has no place in their present and even less so in their future.
So by bringing him back, Yana is essentially going to force Lizzy and o! Ciel to confront each other. To be honest with each other and actually decide, on their own and together, what they want to do in regards to each other.
Lizzy may even wonder whether all the care o! Ciel has shown her was just o!Ciel trying to play the part of his brother.
Meanwhile, o! Ciel will have to face something he may have always been assuming: that had Lizzy been able to choose, Lizzy would have chosen his brother. Like everyone else would have surely done (in his eyes, at least.)
And they’ll both end up saving each other, be it emotionally or otherwise, just as they’re prone to do.
So basically, I’m expecting a very wild but rewarding ride from beginning to end hahaha :’D
