Speaking about Yana and her Ph.D. on Foreshadowing™, I think about this cover often because I’m still in love with it.
And what stood out to me is that when it comes down to it, the only ones wearing costumes were Lizzy and Ciel. Or well, special costumes, since Sebastian is always wearing his Butler disguise.
Plus, their tags:
“The Bride”, “The Groom”. I remember finding it cute funny because the clothing already made it obvious enough, but in light of the 2CT confirmation I’ve started to wonder if Yana wasn’t already foreshadowing the reveal.
After all, Lizzy is “The Bride”, yes, but she isn’t o!Ciel’s bride. She’s meant to be the bride of the r!Ciel. Samwise, o!Ciel isn’t “The Groom”; he has just taken his place. So it’s very fitting that in this cover we see o! Ciel essentially disguised as “The Groom”, out of all things.
And now that I think about it, the tags also look like prize awards, which is another very interesting choice. Almost as if Lizzy and Ciel had been awarded “The Bride” and “The Groom” title as prizes for best costume.
