Episode 10 - It's time.
"Master, you rang?" Sebastian said, entering my office.
I just stared out the window with a sudden numbness, and my lashes lowered. "I wanted to talk to you about something."
He blinked, and then turned to close the door behind him, facing me seconds later before stepping to the desk. "What is it, my young lord?"
I remained staring out the window. "I found the culprit."
He blinked, brows drawing together. "Master?"
"I found the culprit," I repeated, tone short, "who's planning the apocalypse."
"You found him?" Sebastian said, brows drawing together. "H... how?"
"Don't play this game with me," I said then, shooting him a dark look. "I'm not stupid."
He seemed taken aback for a moment, and then settled in on himself while closing his eyes. "Surely you aren't suggesting it's me."
"No, as a matter of fact," I snapped, eyes narrowing, "I'm suggesting that you knew who it was all this time."
He gazed up then, eyes softening. "Master."
"You don't need to lie to me," I said then, lashes lowering. "You hinted it too many times, Sebastian. You ought to be more careful."
I gazed out the window again, breaths straining a little. "You knew him from long ago... and you were so insistent on the cause of this being a grim reaper because you knew it was him." I then turned and walked over to my desk, picking up a small file and tossing it to him.
He caught it within seconds.
"Did you really think that I wouldn't search into your and Ciel's past, Sebastian?" I said then, lashes lowering. "This happened before, didn't it? But... the grim reaper was toying with souls rather than their body functions. He wanted to see if he could add time and memories to their soul after the host had died. So he created living zombies that looked like humans, lived like humans."
Sebastian just set the files gracefully down onto the desk.
"This reaper hid from your sight for a painfully long time, although Ciel was very close to him because he was his main source of information to the underground in the 1800s. He fed Ciel every speck of information." I tipped my head up as Sebastian watched me darkly. "He also ran a funeral shop, and he was crazy, but Ciel dealt with it. This reaper was obsessed with corpses and coffins and death in general. But you never suspected he was up to something so dangerous."
"Master," Sebastian said then, red eyes glowing, "I beg you to stop."
"His name..." I said then, lashes lowering, "Undertaker."
Sebastian gritted his teeth.
"Who is the man who designed this camera?" I said then, raising the machine in my hand.
It was the camera that could read thoughts... I was trying to hard to take an image of Sebastian with it.
"You commented about how he had such phosphorescent eyes, and that it showed who he was immediately." I set the camera down. "Phosphorescent eyes clearly state that the person is a reaper." I gazed up then. "You also commented about how he chose the worst name possible, because you caught on immediately. What was his name, Sebastian?"
"Master," he said in a dark tone. "Please, enough. You do not understand that—"
"Overtaker," I finished.
He closed his eyes tightly.
"The same man who went by Undertaker. Now... Overtaker was in my life for quite some time, but he clearly made sure not to get me to pay more frequent visits to him, you know." My glare sharpened. "Because he knew you were there, and that you'd recognize him immediately."
"Master," Sebastian tried to reason.
But I ignored him. "Sebastian, he's the one who killed my parents, he's the one who created that... freak show. He's the one who's been plotting all this. Do you understand why?"
Sebastian just closed his eyes again.
"I know why." I made an impatient sound. "He wants to experiment on me."
His brows knotted together in frustration.
"He turned my parents first," I said then, lashes lowering. "I know you went to the hospital that night I sent you to get food. I know my parents were his first victims, his first experiments. I know that. And I know that my soul especially he wants to toy with. He wants to create an army of soulless people and build their lives endlessly. He wants them to live forever."
I narrowed my eyes. "He's just.
"That.
"Twisted."
Sebastian parted his lashes then, gazing up at me. "Master."
"You hid this from me," I said then, eyes narrowing. "You've been hiding it for so long because you don't want to grant my wish, is that it?"
He just closed his eyes tightly, sighing heavily in annoyance.
"Sebastian," I said then, eyes narrowing, "we cannot keep doing this. You can't keep holding this back. I know that you must abide from the contract. You cannot refrain taking my soul when the wish is fulfilled. That is in the contract itself. You are starving, understand? Do you not understand what's at stake here? You signed this contract saying that you would extract my soul at the end of my wish. And have you been planning to extend the wish longer and longer so it will not be fulfilled? I know you don't want to do it yet. But there are MANY things at stake here."
He just gazed at me sadly.
"He will keep killing, and killing, and killing, Sebastian," I stated then, eyes narrowing. "He will continue until the entire world had ended and all of us are DEAD."
Sebastian parted his eyes. "Master."
"Shut it," I snapped then, glaring sharply.
He silenced then, lashes lowering.
I just closed my eyes tightly, feeling the weight of everything overcome me and threatening to crash me through the floor.
But I toughed it out and shoved it away. Just like I always did.
"Sebastian..." I said then, setting my hands on my desk as I lowered my head, "my wish has changed. I want to find the culprit only, and after you take my soul, I want you to use that power I give you to kill the Overtaker. You might me a demon, but you need that strength to defeat him, I know it."
His eyes widened immediately, face paling. "My lord."
"Do not argue with me," I said then, gazing up sharply.
His face remained whitened, and his brows drew together as his eyes reddened in a sudden frustration. "Are you that willing to risk your own life for the sake of others? Risk it to a demon knowing that your soul will never transfer again?"
I stared down at the table, shoving all feelings of uneasiness and fear away. "I am willing. And this is what you wanted, isn't it? You wanted me to be with you forever."
I just stood up straighter and slipped my hand under the string of my eye patch, pulling it from my eye and letting it fall to the desk.
I gazed up at Sebastian, feeling the pentagram in my eye glisten under the lighting. "So, now you understand. The contract has been fulfilled. We found the culprit. It is... time now."
The seal on my eye glowed a bright white, and I closed my eyes tightly, feeling it blind me even when my sight was covered.
But when I gazed up, I felt Sebastian's heartbeat echo through the entire room, and his demonic eyes blazed with a sudden hunger, and his lashes lowered.
"You are hungry," I said then, eyes darkening. "Now the hunger is irreversible, isn't it?"
"Master..." he answered, pupils slitting like a cat's, although he somehow kept his composure, "you vowed to me that you would give me your soul for one wish. Vengeance. You changed your wish now, but it is mendable. We, indeed, found the culprit, but we haven't had vengeance yet... are you sure you are ready?"
My lashes lowered. "I'm ready."
His eyes darkened. "If that is what you wish, then so be it."
