“Please!” the man sobbed, scrambling backwards as I stepped up to him slowly. “Please, I did nothing wrong!”
I smiled as I stepped toward him, lightly twisting my favorite blade between my fingers. “My client seems to think otherwise, I’m afraid.”
He just sobbed and continued crawling backwards, a wound on his right leg exposing a light sheet of muscle, and a whole lot of blood.
“Sean Jameson,” I continued as I kept advancing toward him, “wanted for two counts of manslaughter, eight counts of assault and battery, and lastly domestic violence.”
He backed himself against a wall, shrinking back onto it as if he could melt into it and disappear.
“Your ex-girlfriend’s father is not particularly happy with you, Mister Jameson,” I stated, stopping in front of him as his breath shook. “You kept going after his daughter after all his attempts to keep her away from you, and now he got fed up, so he hired me.”
I smiled as I flipped the blade in my hand, catching it seconds later.
“Please,” he sobbed, right leg shaking as more blood spilled from the wound I sliced open, “I won’t do it again. I promise!”
I chuckled, shaking my head as I flipped the knife again. “I’m sorry, but you should’ve given up before her father resulted to this.” I glanced down at him, eyes sharpening. “You should know that many people are not to be trifled with. Because most of the time… they have a trick up their sleeve, and they will result to it no matter how much they despise it.”
Before he could plead any further, I shoved my arm down and sliced the knife into his left eye, hearing him scream for a second before the blade entered his brain.
He then went limp, slumping against the wall as all life left his eyes, and the shaking in his body subsided.
I the tugged the knife out, lashes lowering when I held it at my side, blood slipping off the blade and dropping onto the carpet.
As for his eye… it was now a bottomless hole, spitting out blood like a fountain of red.
I sighed and closed my eyes. “I hate these men.”
“My, my,” someone said. “Quite a mess you made.”
I immediately flipped around and shot the knife at the voice, hearing the blade slice the air before I turned fully to take a better look.
The figure behind me just flipped his hand up, catching the blade in between two fingers.
My eyes widened.
How did he…?
“Hello,” he said then, bowing gently before standing up straight, “my name is Sebastian, and this is my master, Yumi.”
A small girl stepped out from behind the man, bandages wrapped over her right eye as her expression remained masked with a sudden numbness.
A child…?
“We heard that you’d be here tonight,” Sebastian said then, smiling. “And we thought it might be fit to offer you a job.”
He then flipped the knife at me, and I caught it, eyes narrowing. “A job?”
“Indeed,” he replied, glancing at the girl, “my master, here, figured out that you have been fired from your organization. Yesterday, to be exact, and that this was your last job.” He looked back up to me, red eyes glowing in the dim lighting. “And so, we sought fit to offer you a position at the Phantomhive manor. You will be paid well and receive free food and treatment. In exchange, you must act as a servant but your main job it to protect the manor from intruders.”
I just watched them curiously. “How much will I be paid?”
