Janet’s P. O. V:827Please respect copyright.PENANARz6eVNjAtv
“Please tell me they have been found,” I said to George but he shook his head and went away, agony evident in his eyes. I couldn’t hold back my tears. I might have been mad at Jason for many things many times but still he was my best friend. Come to think of it, he was there whenever I needed him most, helping me with the flowers in sixth grade, fighting with Emmett for me and heck in seventh grade he even went down on his knees before a bully to get my money that the bully snatched from me.
And don’t worry; he knocked off two teeth of the bully last year.
All those memories coming like a flood made me even sadder. The rain stopped pouring but the fog was still too thick to see anything. I heard someone come up behind me. Turning around I saw the ever-so-calm eyes of Amy.827Please respect copyright.PENANAb7ir0XNbVz
“Hey Janet answer this question. Today after all these incidents, did you ever think that it would be nice if only Jason returned, huh? She asked looking out at nothing in particular.
“What are you talking about? I would never think like that” I replied a bit angry.
Does this girl even have emotions?
“Whoa calm down, I was just asking” she said and went away, just like that!
Geez, it’s so hard to understand this girl.
I was trying to wrap my head around Amy's unusual behaviour when I heard footsteps approaching. Narrowing my eyes, I tried to see who it was through the thick fog and voila, there stood Jason with Ms Emily on his back. “Ms Emily has been bitten by a snake, take her inside” he said. One weird thing however was that Jason looked nearly deceased as he followed us inside.827Please respect copyright.PENANA3mipD64uw0
Then fell Jason onto the floor making everyone, I mean, everyone to stop whatever they were doing and look at him. It was then that we all realized that his life was slowly leaving his body as he lay in a puddle of blood that oozed from his poorly bandaged arm. He fainted obviously because of the loss of such a huge amount of blood.
But as lucky as he was, he responded well to the treatment and was out of the danger zone soon. However, he was not able to stay awake for long times as he was too exhausted.
It had been well over a day since the last time Jason woke up. Since there was nothing so threatening to his life, we were back to our normal selves. Needless to say, the trip was nothing to write home about but the things that happened became memories themselves. Ms Caroline and Ms Emily started burying their petty arguments and got along well. However Ms Emily was visibly sad obviously because of Jason.
Where in the world is this stupid Luke when I need him? I thought to myself as I searched him as he had my earphones in his bag. I finally found him near the entrance to the room where Jason was.
What is he doing here?
“Luke?”
He turned around and when he saw me, he quickly called me. I went over and he pointed his finger towards the room. Confused, I looked in and saw Ms Emily whispering something to a half-awake Jason. I shooed Luke away and listened to what she was saying.
She was crying and apologizing for putting his life in danger. I thought of chiding Luke for making a mountain out of a molehill. Just as I was about to leave, Ms Emily took Jason's hand in hers.
"I can't even find words to thank you, Jason. Had you not jumped in after me, I would've been torn apart by the trees. I'm forever in your debt. I'm so sorry for being such a clumsy woman and going after my purse when I should have been more mature," she said, sobbing softly.
"Saving the girl he loves is just about the least that any guy can do. I can say this a hundred times, I love you. So whether you like it or not, I'll always be there for you whenever you face dangers. We'll take down your hurdles together," Jason said in a bare whisper.
"Oh, Jason!" she whispered as she bent over him and kissed his lips deeply and he kissed her back with so much love and passion. I just couldn't stand the sight of it.
I’m so going to kill that lady!
Emily’s P. O. V:
I was starting to get tired of doing nothing but just lying down. Fortunately for me, the snake bite was harmless and I was up and walking in no time. Carrie’s behaviour turned the tables on itself. For instance when I woke up, she was there with a cup of coffee in her hands and tears in her eyes. She became so affectionate.
Jason was not so lucky however. Seeing what he underwent for me, it wouldn’t take a genius to figure out why he was looking more dead than alive. He would wake up, look around for some time giving me, Janet and George just enough time to talk to him and then he would fall asleep again.
I felt like a total loser each time I saw his face. The cut on his arm gave me goose bumps because if it wasn’t for him, I’d be dead by now. He risked himself for me more than once but all I could do was just watch helplessly. I could still remember exactly, the feeling of his arms wrapping around me as we fell so that I could escape unhurt; something that required more than just affection and self-sacrifice.
We reached the school on Tuesday evening just as planned. Jason was alright except for the stitched wound on his arm and a scar on his forehead. The trip was very good indeed. Carrie and I started to get along and needless to say, I fell in love with Jason even more but still didn’t want to admit my feelings even though I went so far as to kiss him. Janet however seemed a bit ticked off about something. There was a small doubt in my mind whether she had seen us kissing. But I just brushed that thought aside.
“Alright dinner’s on me. Who’s coming?” announced Carrie. Everyone joined except Janet. Jason tried talking her into coming when she snapped at him shouting, “Leave me alone” and went home leaving everyone confused and speechless. What had gotten into her?
Jason was a bit upset about Janet’s sudden outburst but cheered up soon after. We went to a restaurant and had a pretty long dinner with most of the time spent on Jason and me telling all that happened to us when we got lost in the forest.
“And God was obviously with us so we found our way back to the condo. That’s how we came back,” I finished.
“You two owe us a lot, you know?” asked George.
“Eh? Owe you? What exactly do we owe?” asked Jason.
“Hmm. Let’s see…” started Tina and continued, “You, stupid people went missing, inviting everyone to panic-land. Amy and I didn’t show it much though. Luke walked at least fifty miles in a wild goose chase in hopes of finding you and becoming the hero.”
“Hey, I wasn’t trying to be the hero!” exclaimed Luke
“Okay shut up idiot," she snapped. Probably everyone other than those two could clearly see that they loved each other despite all the cat fights. "Anyway, George, Janet and Ms Caroline were practically crying rivers, especially Ms Caroline who was in hysterias,” she finished.
“You know, I really didn’t need that honour,” said Carrie, blushing.
“Yeah, it’s natural seeing that Ms Emily is our teacher and Jason’s my best friend,” whined George.
Thus time flew by with lots of chatter and laughter after which we went home, each person with memories to last a lifetime.
Jason’s P. O. V:
Two days after we came back, I went to the hospital to have the last of the sutures removed. I sat outside on a bench after coming home from the hospital to get some fresh air. I noticed someone coming toward me and it didn’t take me long to realize that it was Ms Caroline.
“Oh, hey Jason”, she greeted and I smiled back at her. By the way, she became or at least acted more mature after the trip. She came and sat by me and we talked for a long time albeit about nothing much in particular. However, I was itching to ask her about Ms Emily.
Truth be told, I hadn’t actually seen Ms Emily face to face after the trip. She was absent to school the first day and she wasn’t at her house that evening either. The next day, she did come to school but didn’t come to our class and sent Ms Caroline instead to take care of the duties.
I couldn’t contain myself so I asked her, “How is Ms Emily doing after the trip? Is she alright?”
She seemed to be in deep thought for a while and answered, “I don’t know what to say, she seems to have changed a bit.”
“Changed? How?” I bombarded her with questions as her vague reply started scaring me.
“Um… for instance when I talk about you and her during the trip, she gets really mad and tells me that’s she looks at you as a student who has a crush on her and nothing more,” she replied and even an idiot could figure out that I would have been happier without hearing that.
“Ah come on, what’s with the sad face? You know she’s more on the taciturn side,” she comforted me. She had a point. Ms Emily sure was quite reticent. Thus leaving me to my thoughts, she went inside bidding goodnight.
And if you’re wondering, Ms Caroline stopped trying to tempt me and we became good friends.
A/N: Here I am with a new (and pretty long) chapter that wasn't actually due for another week. I got a short break so I came back home :)
Thought Emily would accept Jason just like that? Obviously that's not the case. But then, what on earth is she thinking?
Next chap may be up by 19th though I'm not sure. Thanks again for the amazing response and support. The story's been on top of the trending list for a while now which is something I never dreamed of. I really appreciate it. Bye for now :D
