The next day I was busy teasing a girl called Amy when Luke came over and informed me that the Ms Emily was calling me. A million thoughts coursed through my mind before I even set foot out of the classroom. I went in the direction of her room bracing myself for a slap or a string of scolding.908Please respect copyright.PENANAeWqGXEwrLW
I was just so uneasy to even enter her room. I guess she had grown tired of waiting for me to enter because after a while, she came out. I was shocked when out of the blue she said, "I'll come to the music concert with you." I couldn't believe my ears.
"What?" I asked dumbfounded.
You really are a stupid boy, you know that? I said that I'll come to the concert with you this Saturday. Did your vintage brain process what I just said?" she asked clearly irritated. I felt like I was on top of the world. I nodded with my thoughts in some other dimension.
"But mind you, you say a word about this to anyone and I'll personally enjoy the pleasure of tormenting you in math classes, got it?" she asked, with a look that asked "Are you even listening?"
I nodded again, completely oblivious to what she was really saying.
The wait for Saturday was agony trying its best to torture me. Finally, Saturday hauled itself to me. I went to the concert venue well in advance. About five minutes later, Ms Emily came proving me that the dresses she wore to school were not the prettiest. No she was not wearing anything fancy or too revealing, just a pair of jeans and a 'Hello kitty' T-shirt but I was drawn by some sort of radiance beyond the scope of words. ['Angel' by Akon]
"This is not a date you idiot!" I told myself.
We went in. I could tell she really enjoyed it as she was all smiles on the way back home. She was about to enter the elevator when she stopped for a moment and said in a barely audible voice, "If you get another chance like this, ask no one but me, okay?"
"Of course", I replied. I couldn't control myself. I leaned over and gave a quick peck on her cheek and she went home blushing with a hand on the place where I kissed her and I went to George's house to borrow some class notes. I had slacked off too much and if it continued, I was sure to study high school all over again.
I was in a happy mood the next day till the math hour. Ms Emily was very angry seeing the two marks I had gotten out of 100. At home, aunt was even angrier. She even said that she was ashamed of being related to me. Ouch! That hurt, especially coming from aunt.
Dad came home from work, a little later. At an otherwise quiet dinner, out of the blue he asked, "How was the concert? Did your girlfriend like it?" I nodded with a small smile at the thought of how happy Ms Emily was. "Invite her here, I wanna meet the one who has captured your heart," he said.
Oh no! Well, good things never last long.
"Um... ok..." was all I managed to say.
I spent a sleepless night contemplating on what to do with the newly risen problem. The truth was not an option at all – period. I had to think of some way out of this mess. After an hour of thought, I reluctantly thought of asking Janet to come to my house. Guilt was constantly gnawing at my conscience. Janet was my best friend. Even George would irritate me sometimes resulting in cold wars but the girl on the other hand never made me angry.
I'll fall at her feet and apologise if necessary when this is over I thought as I finally made up my mind to call her.
The next day at school, as usual George finished eating before Janet and I did. He was always the fast-eater of our group. Once he left, I asked her and boy, it was as difficult as proposing to someone.
Janet's P. O. V:
Jason had a rather strange atmosphere of uneasiness around him. George finished eating first. He always ate way too fast. As soon as he left to wash his hands, Jason asked, "Err... Janet, can you come over to my house tomorrow?" I couldn't believe what I had just heard. "It's okay if you wanna invite George too" he continued pointing to George who had returned.
I should have said yes sooner. Guess today's just not my day.
I told George about the invite and he was only happy to come, to my dismay must I add. I wanted it to be just Jason and me. So the next day, after class was over, all three of us walked to Jason's house. For some reason, I felt that Jason was looking a bit disturbed. The uneasiness on his face grew as we neared his house. There was nothing I could think of that would scare Jason in his own house.
What I didn't expect was that Jason's father was home. To be honest, he was a bit scary. Well, that was probably the reason for Jason's fidgeting.
Jason's Aunt made dinner. We sat around the table, eager to lay our hands on the scrumptious-looking feast in front of our eyes. After saying a small prayer, we started digging in. The food tasted even better than it looked. Jason's father sat on a higher chair symbolising that he was the family head. When I was busy tearing meat off a chicken piece, out of the blue he asked,
"How was the concert?"
What is he talking about? I thought as I froze in my seat with the piece of chicken still sticking out of my mouth.
I looked over to see Jason who was biting his nails and sweating out gallons.
So he had used me. The knife of betrayal piercing right in the centre of my heart sure was sharp and barbed, yet I covered for him, conjuring up a tight yet convincing smile and saying, "It was fun."

Yikes! To escape, Jason used Janet! Not to mention, she's his best friend. How will she react??
Does Jason deserve to be her friend? Is he a poor confused boy? Or is he just plain stupid?
