“Nope” I replied.
“I hope you remember that what your dad did was never under Carrie’s control” he said and I nodded. It started drizzling. I thought it would be just a passing rain so we all resumed walking.
What a mistake! It started raining like crazy.
The rain was a bit heavy but there was no thunder luckily so we kept walking. The fog was very thick, one could easily get lost so George led the way while the rest stayed close to him. He asked me and Jason to come at the back to make sure that no one got lost.
We went a pretty long way before we realized that we were the ones who were left behind. I started to panic but did not let it show. Jason managed to maintain his rather calm composure. He didn’t seem the least bit stressed.
“Aren’t we a bit too much behind them?” I asked Jason as the fear started gnawing harder at my already frightened self. He nodded which I could barely see through the thick fog. Suddenly Jason grabbed my hand strongly. I was wondering why when my left foot touched thin air instead of ground. “Be careful” he warned. I was petrified as I looked down; Jason had just saved me from a two thousand metre death-drop!
We crossed another bend when I slipped on a loose rock and fell down. “I think my butt cracked” I cried in pain. I realized what a stupid thing I had said when I saw Jason laughing as he helped me up. As I stood up, I saw my purse on the edge and went to pick it up.
Luck was obviously not so friendly with us that day because the ledge cracked and I fell. Jason dived in after me and wrapped his arms around me as we fell down a painful eight feet through some shrubs onto a clearing.
I barely had any injuries thanks to Jason. Jason? He was unconscious with a cut caused by a tree branch on his left arm, a cut which was supposed to be on my back and a gash on his forehead. The rain seemed to lash his face mercilessly while I tried getting him to wake up.
In the end he woke up and without even looking at his arm he started checking me for injuries. “Worry a little about yourself, you idiot. You’re bleeding” I said, startled. He simply shrugged and said, “Nah, we can take care of that later,” pointing to his injured arm.

We got up but as soon as we started to walk, pain shot up in my ankle. I had probably hit it somewhere when I fell. Jason saw it and immediately picked me up in his arms and started walking. I felt like a burden to him.
He nearly killed himself saving me and now he is carrying me!
We stopped to rest under a rock. Jason was clearly exhausted. His white T-shirt which was wrapped around his arm was not so efficient in stopping the bleeding and was completely red. Suddenly I felt a weird kind of pain in my leg, I looked around and saw a snake slithering away. Seeing that Jason quickly took off his vest and wrapped it tightly around the bitten area in case the snake was venomous. He picked me up in his arms again and started walking.
Great. Now I really feel like a burden to him.
George’s P. O. V:
“We are really trying our best ma’am” said the forest guard trying to comfort Ms Carrie who was leaning on my shoulder crying her eyes out saying “Emily, Emily please, don’t leave me, please come back!” I made her sit inside the guard tower as it was still raining. She looked up at me and said, “Please tell me they have been found.” I just shook my head and she went back sulking in the corner. I was upset too. I respected Ms Emily a lot and Jason was one of the best things in my life. Thinking about that, the line which Jason said to Ms Emily came into my head, “I’d bite a bullet for them just as I would for you.” That scared me to my wit’s end. Maybe something happened to Ms Emily and Jason got into trouble trying to save her. Another thing that worried me was that I could not do anything to comfort poor Ms Carrie.
