It was a terribly cold winter morning and all the recruits were shivering because the Serge told them to take off their shirts. Its okay, they were shirtless too.
“Alright today we are…” he paused and gave a grim face. “Where is Alice?”
No one said a word.
“I…will…ask…again.” he took a deep breath and screamed, “WHERE IS SHE?”
Finally, one of the recruits with a trembling voice said, “Shh….shh…she w…went t…to pl…play s…s…sir.”
The Sergeant couldn’t believe his ears. “What?”
Then they heard her yell in a distance.
“Was that her?” one asked.
“Yeah.”
She yelled again.
“Hey Mark, you have sharp ears.” One said nudging him. “What is she saying?”
Mark listened again and shrugged. “I don’t know but it sounds like…”
“GET OUT OF THE WAY!”
Then like flash, all the recruits were knocked out with some landing head first in the snow. Some composed themselves and looked around to see Alice lying face down in the snow.
“Alice! What the heck were you doing?” Marcel yelled.
She shook the snow from her hair and grinned. “Sorry guys! I was sledding.”
Polo got his head out of the snow. “Sledding?”
“Are you insane?” one asked in shock.
Kyle stood up and wiping the dust off his bare chest. “What I really want to know is what the heck you were using as a sled.”
“Felix thinks Alice used the metal thing.” Felix said pointing at a huge rectangular metal plate lying on the snow.
Alice gave a sheepish laugh. “Yeah. I fell off twice but got the hand of it the third time. Too bad I didn’t get the steering right.”
“Felix says you need ropes to steer the sled.”
She sat up. “Thanks! I’ll keep that in mind. Say, where’s the Serge?”
Then she heard a muffled sound and looked down to see a body half buried in a pile of snow. Quickly she got off the rest of the recruits wiped the snow off the Sargent’s torso.
“Oh no!”
“Serge are you okay?”
Polo scoffed. “He’s fine!”
“Felix disagrees. Felix says the Serge looks blue.” Felix said.
“Nah! He’s fine.” Another said.
“Yeah! Lets leave.”
“Shouldn’t we take him to the sick bay?” Alice asked.
“Nope!” said another already walking back to the sleeping unit.
“Felix aggress with Alice. Felix says Serge could die if…”
“All of you…”
The rest looked down and saw the Serge’s angry looking face.
“ALL OF YOU DO TWO HUNDRED PUSH UPS NOW!” he barked. Then he grabbed Alice by the neck and rose up with an angry look on his face. “And you do four hundred.”
Like I said, it was a cold winter morning but the recruits felt the heat that day in the snow.
