Episode 9 Continued - Ruthless
I quickly snuck in through the back door of the mansion, glancing around nervously before I saw Scarlet walking down the other side of the hall.
“Scarlet,” I said then, making her glance at me, “do you know where master is?”
She parted her lips. “She’s in the study. Why, Sebastian?”
I smiled then, closing my eyes. “No reason. Just curious.”
She blinked before shrugging and walking off to another room.
I parted my lashes as the smile remained on my face, and I made sure the room was clear before I turned and opened the back door.
My eyes immediately softened.
A small little black kitten sat there, gazing up at me with her soft, yellow eyes that reflected the lights to easily.
“Oh, so precious…” I said then, kneeling down and petting her silky fur. “I’d never think that such a beauty could exist in this world.”
I then caught under her armpits, making her mewl softly as I held her up with one arm, continuously petting her silky fur.
I kept the smile. “Master will never know.”
“Sebastian,” someone said from my right.
I stilled, a sudden gust of shock and discomfort rushing through me.
I quickly hid the cat behind me, smiling as Yumi came up from down the hall.
“Yes, master?” I said kindly.
She kept coming toward me. “Where have you been? I’ve been having to deal with these horrid servants all day. It’s exhausting! They don’t even know how to boil water for my tea.”
The kitten struggled from behind me, but I quickly held her in place, adjusting my arms so she was comfortable. “That’s unfortunate. I apologize for taking so long.”
Yumi stood a couple feet in front of me. “Why are you struggling so much? Seriously, go drink some water.”
I just kept the smile. “Will do, master. Even though water won’t do anything for me, I shall go drink it straight away.”
“Good,” she answered, “because I seriously think—”
She broke off, inhaling deeply.
A sneeze squeaked past her lips, and she lurched forward at the movement.
Yumi stood up straight then, holding her finger under her nose as if she predicted another one coming. “Sebastian.”
I kept the smile. “Yes?”
“Are you hiding a cat behind you?” she demanded then.
I just closed my eyes as I kept the smile. “Why ask such peculiar questions?”
She sneezed again, taking a step backward. “I told you to avoid bringing cats inside, you idiot! You know very well that I’m allergic—”
She sneezed, once more, the sound squeaking past her lips.
I parted my lashes, watching her curiously.
“Put it back outside!” she said then, stepping backward. “That’s an order, Sebastian!”
She then continued down the hall, sneezing occasionally as she made her way back to her office.
I pouted then, pulling the cat out from behind me.
She remained in my arms, lightly batting her face to rid of dust before gazing up at me.
A soft mewl came from her mouth, and her big eyes glistened as she watched me.
“Master’s so cruel… I have a perfect place for you, too. One that won’t set off master’s allergies. But she said to put you outside.”
A smile crossed my face. “She never said I couldn’t bring you back in, though.”
I quietly stepped outside then, setting the kitten down and closing the door behind me.
She mewed again and sat down, gazing up at me curiously.
“Follow me,” I said to her, and I started down the sides of the house.
She did, and I snuck my way around the house before making it to a small window that entered the basement.
I just quietly hopped into the gutter and opened the window, slinking into the room seconds later.
After landing on the ground, I glanced up to find the kitten following me.
She landed on the ground as I closed the window, and I smiled and knelt down, lightly petting her head.
“Such soft fur,” I said then, watching her curiously, “such beautiful eyes. The creature of the night… such perceptive reflexes.”
But a sudden voice broke me from my state:
“Sebastian!” Yumi sneezed again after calling my name. “Get me some fucking Benadryl or something, you idiot!”
I just gazed up in annoyance.
“Sebastian, where are you?!”
I just gazed down at the kitten. “We must hurry before she comes down here. Come on, quickly.”
I rushed over to the closet and opened the door, picking up the kitten and stuffing her into the large space.
She bounced off the ground before looking around curiously, and I smiled when I saw all the other cats in the space mewing and circling around each other.
“Sebastian!” Yumi said, knocking on my door. “I know you can hear me.”
I remained silent.
She just barged in a matter of seconds, and I slammed my closet door shut, gazing over at the doorway while setting my back against wood.
“What are you doing?” Yumi said then, rubbing her nose with a tissue. “You caused this mess now—”
She sneezed again, body lurching forward.
Yumi gazed up. “Now get me some meds or something.”
I smiled, closing my eyes kindly. “At once, master! You can go back to your study now.”
She just scoffed and walked out, closing the door behind her.
I just rushed around the room, cleaning all specks of cat dandruff and fur, tossing it out the window seconds later.
After that, I dashed out from my room, rushing over to the back door where I entered at first, ridding of all causes of master’s allergy, dusting off my jacket and gloves.
The only trigger of her allergy was my closet, and she almost never raided through it.
I stopped at her office door only a minute later, holding a small bottle of liquid Benadryl in my hand.
I knocked kindly. “Master? I have your meds.”
“Enter,” she said then.
I entered the room, closing the door seconds later, and I gazed up before stepping over to her desk.
Yumi laid her head on the table, clearly looking dazed.
I just set a small measuring cup on her desk, pouring the medicine in it seconds later.
When I was done, I set the bottle aside and picked up the cup, stepping over to her before bowing slightly.
I handed her the cup then, and she took it kindly before swallowing the whole thing.
I took it back and stepped back over to pick up the bottle, finally bowing one more time at the end of her desk. “I shall be back in a couple minutes for your lunch.” I stood up straighter and exited the room, closing the door seconds later.
Cammie came up from in front of me, dashing down the halls. “Sebasssstiannnnn! A lettteerrrrr!”
She waved a thin, plain envelope in her hand, making her way toward me.
Unlike Scarlet who tripped over everything, Cammie stumbled and caught herself, slowing in front of me seconds later.
“It’s from the king, yes!” she said, closing her eyes in elation. “It’s for master!”
“Another job?” I said then, taking the envelope from her hand before gazing down at it. “Oh, well… I’ll give it to master after she eats her lunch.”
“You made master’s lunch?” Cammie said then, irises beating in joy.
“Aren’t I the only one who does anything around here?” I said in annoyance. “All you four do is kill people.” I sighed then. “And master’s so spoiled she can’t even tie her own shoelaces.”
I heard Yumi sneeze from inside the office.
“Annoying indeed,” I answered, gazing up as I smiled. “But it’s fine. If I couldn’t handle all this on my own… then what kind of butler would I be?”
Cammie just watched me with her eyes sparkling.
“I shall go retrieve her lunch,” I said then, making my way down the hall.
