Of all the things I expected Marcum to do when he found out about us, handing her over to Thien wasn’t one of them. To make matters worse, they think I tried to turn her dark. If dark energy was present in Aria, I’m not the one who put it there.
Seven hours…that’s how long I have to find a way to stop her union to Thien.
“Did you find anything?” I ask.
“No.” Qi replies.
“Fuck! Look harder…there’s got to be something.” I push.
“You could always just let her go.” She points out.
I narrow my eyes at Qi and she begins to claw at her throat as I rob her of the ability to breathe. “If you don’t have anything useful to say perhaps you just shouldn’t speak.” I warn her before releasing her.
“Noah, this is madness!” My father shouts.
“They stole her from me for the second time!” I shout. “I’ve skipped mad and gone straight to fucking insane! Someone find me something helpful!”
“Noah, I know you’re pissed, but you need to calm down son. I know you’re in love with Aria, but I know Marcum. If you go after him half-cocked and full of emotion, he’ll bury you.” My father tries to reason with me.
“I don’t care.” I shake my head. “I couldn’t even touch her…do you know what that feels like? To be so close to something you want so badly you can taste it but you can’t get near it?”
“What did she say?” Qi asks.
“She said she didn’t want to be his consort.”
“Are you sure?” My father asks. “Thien and Aria have a strong bond.”
“I’m one thousand percent sure, and if I can rescue her from this shit I will.”
“Then I may have something for you.” Harm chimes in.
“What?”
“It’s called a rip. Do you still have the dark stone?”
“Yes, why?”
“Well according to what I’m reading, you can use it to make a rip that will allow you and Aria to touch.”
“Okay, that gets me near her, but how does that help me?” I grow more impatient by the second.
“If you can get near her, you can bring her here…to Kaalen.”
“They’ll just come get her.” I scoff.
“Yes, but if you can get her to bind her blood with yours, the effects will be everlasting. So while you won’t be able to rescue her permanently, you’ll be able to see her whenever you want.”
I paced the floor deep in thought and came up empty. The rift would have to work for now. I had harm show me what to do and when her room came into view, she sat at the foot of her bed in tears.
“Aria.” I call out to her.
She stops crying and looks over at the vortex. “Noah?” She wipes away her tears.
Aria steps through the vortex and it feels like we were both suspended in this one moment forever. Qi slices Aria’s palm and she doesn’t even flinch. Qi does the same to me and then she collects our blood onto the dark stone.
She hands the stone to me and I close my eyes. I can feel the force field around Aria now and when I open my eyes it encases her like a cocoon. “How do I break it?” I ask Harm.
“Use your powers.” He suggests.
Placing my hand against the force field I half expect to be thrown like I was before, but the stone has temporarily bypassed the force fields security. I send a small current of power across the force field and it shatters like glass, freeing my ability to touch her.
I wasn’t sure the rip worked until Aria reached up to touch my face. Her soft, warm hands heat up my face, calming me for the first time since she was taken from me.
Wasting no time at all, I crush my lips to hers and damn if she doesn’t taste as good as I remember. “They’ll come for me.” She whispers to me.
“Let them come.” I reply.
“We should hurry then.” She smiles.
Aria grabs me by the hand and takes me to my bedroom. I lock the door behind us and watch as she slides the straps of her dress off her shoulders and it falls to the floor revealing her perfectly plump ass. Biting my lip, I follow her over to my bed, taking my clothes off along the way.
She shivers under the weight of my gaze, but she doesn’t back down. She’s at the foot of my bed now, taking off what’s left of her clothes and I follow her lead. “Are you sure?” I ask her.
“I’m not sure about anything anymore. I just know its what I want.” She replies, bringing my fingers up to her lips and sucking on every last one of them.
An inferno ignites inside me and I sink my teeth into the nape of her neck. Her lips trace my collarbone, threatening to shatter my resolve. I go to wake Aria when Qi wraps her arms around my waist. I can feel her wet tears on my back. “Why?” She whispers to me. “I fucking love you Noah.”
“I know.”
I break free from her hold and wake Aria who quickly gets dressed. I take her to the front of the palace where her team and over a thousand Angels are gathered, prepared to burn my home to the ground if they have to.
“I don’t want to go.” Aria turns away from them. “I want to stay here with you.”
“You have to.” I sigh, not wanting to let her go. “But you’re my wife, do you hear me? I don’t care what happens today, you belong to me.”
She nods as tears pour from her eyes and kisses me on the lips. It takes every ounce of strength inside me to stay on the steps of my palace as they take her away. She walks over to Thien, who’s glaring at me, and the two of them erupt into a bright light, disappearing from Kaalen.
