Two words…MIND. BLOWN. That’s the only way I can describe being with Thien. I knew he was great in bed…I mean, why else would girls fawn all over him, but what he did to me when we made love went beyond words.
So why is he back to being a colossal asshole? Oh yeah…because he’s Thien and you screwed Noah…
Thien did more than blow my mind…he gave me hope. Then he brought my world to a screeching halt by putting as much distance between us as possible.
“What does it feel like?” Willow broke through my thoughts as we headed to the cafeteria.
“What does what feel like?” I ask.
“Being his consort.”
Lonely…painful…
“Well, whenever he decides to grace me with his presence its…AMAZING. Any other time…lets just say he’s mastered the art of not giving a damn about my feelings.” I reply, disheartened.
“Still?” She frowns.
“Yeah…still.”
Willow’s about to apologize to me for the millionth time, for my union with Thien being the constant ache in my heart that it is, but I can’t bring myself to accept her pity. We walk into the cafeteria and the sight of Thien guts me. He and Desiree are exchanging ‘come fuck me’ looks and instantly I want to kill her.
Willow follows my gaze and flashes me a sympathetic smile. This is a business arrangement. That’s what he told me and those are the words swirling in my mind as I watch the two of them.
Willow pulls me over to our usual table and I try not to look, but I can’t help it. He’s smiling at her, but they’re supposed to be MY smiles.
By chance I happen to meet Noah’s glance. He has a smirk on his face and his arm around Qi who sarcastically waves at me.
I fucking hate them.
Thien sits next to me and after trying my hardest to hold it together, I come unglued. “I get that I hurt you, but I love you. Why do you keep hurting me?” I ask, hoping to reach him.
“When has love ever been enough for you?” He cut his eyes at me. “If I recall correctly, you loved me while you were spreading your legs for Noah, right?” He points out.
Everyone at the table exchange uncomfortable glances. They hate witnessing the fights between Thien and I, as much I hat e having them. They’ve only increased after we slept together.
“I’m sorry.” Tears form in my eyes. “How many times do I have to apologize to you for what I did? Thien, I’m sorry. I’m so-so sorry.”
“Yeah, well sorry isn’t good enough. Besides, I told you what this was.” He turned to address me. “I don’t want to be loved, I don’t want you to think about me, and I don’t want your fucking affections. Just spread your legs when I need you to, give me an heir and leave me the fuck alone.”
Now everyone is watching us. Noah broke my heart but Thien is slicing into my soul with his blatant disregard for my feelings. I nodded obediently and left him alone like he asked.
Thien’s phone chirped to life and he pulled it out of his pocket to read the text that just came in. “Someone just tried to abduct the third weapon and now the humans have him under the lock and key of witness protection.” He informs us. “The Republic wants us to go after the remaining weapons. We’re to bring them to the house and guard them with our lives.”
Thien and Noah are starting to go over possibilities with the team when movement in my stomach catches my attention. A bright blinking light forms in my lower abdomen and I gasp, lifting up my shirt to take a closer look. I’m carrying a birth spark inside me, which could only mean one thing…I’m going to be a mom.
I look up and realize that everyone is watching me now. Thien motions for me to freeze everything, so I do.
“Oh my Alpha, you’re pregnant!” Willow cuffs her hand over her mouth and smiles.
“Who’s the father?” Qi asks nervously.
Thien, Noah and I, all exchange glances. The fact that I’m pregnant hadn’t even registered yet before the question of who the father is was posed. I glanced over at Qi silently cursing her for asking the question I was afraid to know the answer to.
Thien reached out to touch my stomach and I prayed to Alpha to let the baby be his. I’d already broken Thien’s heart badly and he pledged his life to me anyway. I didn’t want to add insult to injury.
Please be his…please be his…please be his…
Thien’s hand touched my stomach and I waited with baited breath. The blinking light grew dim and my heart slammed into my chest. Furious, Thien got up from the table and stormed out into the halls. Noah placed his hand on my stomach and the light grew so bright it practically lit up the room.
“Looks like we’re going to be parents.” He smiles.
I can’t with him…why Alpha, WHY…?
After swatting Noah’s hand from my stomach I take off after Thien and the team follows. He’s in the hallway, cursing loudly and hurling light sparks at any and everything in his way. He’s making crater sized holes in the walls, blowing lockers off the walls and setting pretty much everything on fire.
His rage is so consuming it’s engulfed him now and he’s covered in red flames. I want to call out to him, but he’s so angry that I fear he might hurt me. So I wait.
At some point he grows exhausted and drops to his knees. The flames surrounding him die out and his sparks are extinguished. I take a step towards him, but Willow blocks my path. “He’s blinded by his rage and he’ll kill you.” She warns me. “Even if he loves you, if he can’t control his emotions Aria, he’ll kill you.”
Instead, Wake summons Thien’s father who sends Katnis of all people to talk to Thien. She cuts her eyes at me as she tries to talk to him and then the two of them disappear in a burst of light.
“Where’d they go? Where is she taking him?” I begin to panic.
“Home.” Wake replies.
Now that Thien is gone, I’m first in command. I motion for everyone to go back into the cafeteria and then someone grabs me by the arm. “We need to talk.” Noah tells me.
“I have nothing to say to you.”
“You’re carrying my child.” He points out. “And judging from the fact that the light is blue I’d say it’s a boy. Which means you’re carrying my heir. Make the damn time to talk.”
“There’s nothing to talk about!” I shout at him. “Do you have any idea what you’ve done to me? To my union?”
“What I’ve done to you?” He reels back in disbelief. “Last time I checked you weren’t just laying there Aria, you were fucking me back. So I think its safe to say you had a hand in this too.”
I slapped Noah as hard as I could across the face and in an instant his hand was around my throat. “Go ahead, kill me.” I dared him. “You never loved me anyway, you just used me to get back at my father and Thien! Then you did what you do best and you ran!”
“What?” He stared at me incredulously. “Aria I did love you! As a matter of fact, I still fucking love you, but what was I supposed to do once you pledged your life to Thien? Wait for you!”
“YES!” I shouted back.
“And then what?” His voice softened. “Huh? You’re HIS… for life Aria, which means HE. OWNS. YOU…there’s no part of you that I can touch let along HAVE anymore. So I pledged my life to Qi.”
I didn’t want to hear anymore. Arguing with Noah is exhausting and it never goes anywhere. I tried to walk away but after my first step the room started spinning. Unable to hold myself up, I collapsed in his arms.
