No! No! Noooooooooooo!!!
This isn't happening, THIS CAN'T BE HAPPENING!
There stood the very lady to whom I owed the ten dollars!
"Alright good morning class, my name is Emily Hayley, you can call me Ms Emily and I'm going to be your homeroom teacher for this class and Math teacher for class 2 and 3," she said and stopped when her eyes glued themselves with mine. Oh those pretty eyes!
"Ugh! Snap out of it Jason," I said to myself.
Emily's P. O. V:
Uh-Oh.
HE is a student of this school? Oh well it will then be easy for me to get the money I thought but what I really feared was how his behaviour would be.
The introductory class was clearly nothing to write home about. I was nervous as hell because it was my first class ever. I went in expecting warm welcome but all I got was a few 'good morning's from the I'm-so-innocent students while the gangster types simply stood up and looked elsewhere. A few of the meanest looking boys didn't even bother to stand up!
I made up my mind to keep them in control by force but since it was my first day for them as well as me, I just let it slide.
After what seemed like a decade, the class was finally over. Thankfully Jason never troubled me and his friends seemed to be nice people.
Jason's P. O. V:
I was rather scared in the first class itself. To ease my mind, I went to the cafeteria and bought a bottle of juice and drank it all in one gulp. I realised my mistake when I heard something like a dump truck running around in my belly. My stomach started hurting like hell. I ran to the restroom and barged into the first cubicle. In there was Ms Emily?
Okay. The stupid thing that I, 'Jason the great' did:
I did not see the sign, 'LADIES'. Oops!
"The door, please close it," she said. My face was probably turning into different shades of red due to utter embarrassment. "And meet me in the staff room," she said in an angrier voice. I did as I was told and waited in the staff room for her. She came after a while and the moment she saw me, all she gave was a cold glare. Great.
"So Jason Reed, care to explain why you ran into the women's toilet?" she asked as I just stood there unable to look at her. "I had to go very badly, I didn't even notice the sign, I'm so sorry," I explained. "Okay I believe your story but don't go blabbering about this elsewhere," she said. Just as I was about to leave, she spoke again, "When are you going to return the 10 dollars, huh?" Damn, I thought she had forgotten. I left without answering.
I saw Janet and George outside. "Do you guys have 10 dollars?" I asked them. George simply shook his head while Janet said, "Um... I have only one 20 dollar bill-", without even asking, I snatched it from her hand and sped off. Janet wouldn't mind, I hoped so.
Emily's P. O. V:
As I walked through the hallway talking to another teacher, she was telling me about how stubborn and troublesome Jason could be. Just then I spotted him standing all alone. "What are you doing here after classes are over?" I asked him. He calmly answered me," I was waiting for you. Can you spare a moment?" I nodded
He pushed a twenty dollar bill in my hand and said, "I know it is late but please regain your trust in me". I nodded and said, "I don't trust you enough to give you the balance in cash, follow me," and went to a nearby hotel. "Alright order what you want". He stared at the ground for a moment then said, "You order first. From that I'll order since a teacher's salary is pretty tight". "I'm gonna eat spaghetti" I announced to which he replied, "Then I'll also eat that". We ordered it and ate in silence. Not a word was spoken after that.
After I went home, I took a shower and went upstairs to the common terrace that joined the two apartment wings and stood there hanging some wet clothes on the clothesline and drying my hair. Suddenly someone called me "mommy" and hugged me tightly from the back before I had time to react. When their grip loosened I turned back to see a shocked Jason. "What are you doing in this apartment?" we asked each other at the same time. Then it struck both of us, we lived in the same apartment! Oh joy!
"You live here?" asked Jason.
"Yup. I moved here just a few weeks ago," I replied.
"Which floor are you in?"
"The fifth one. My house is at the extreme end of the left wing. What about you?"
"I also live in the fifth floor, at the extreme end of the right wing," he replied. I guessed that I didn't see him there before because the terrace was the only link between the otherwise separate apartments. Yeah, talk about a genius building designer.
"Why did you call me 'mommy'?" I asked. "I'm sorry, I thought you were my aunt, I've always called her 'mom'" he said looking down and then ran away leaving me confused.
What just happened? I thought as I looked at the boy sprinting off.
